From WWE.com: Working the angle, or did Marty fuck up again? Either way it's the most strangely worded release note ever.

I re-watched this again for the second time in a week last night. I think I will either write a review or respond to Frank's excellent review later this week. This is my MOTD for the 1970's and one of the best matches I have ever seen (maybe the best). ------------------------------------------ This review isn't about the WON Awards or a candidate for the WON HOF, but since the match involves two WON HOF members I thought it might find a good home in this forum. Tying back to Steve Yohe's excellent "Wrestler of the Year 1900-1979" work, I'd have to say that the case for Billy Robinson winning WON Wrestler of the Year award in 1976 is stron…

The ROH/TNA spat seems to be growing, as ROH has decided not to book Lethal for any more shows since he chose to go to the TNA PPV and miss the ROH show that caused Strong and Aries so much problems. Both companies are sending a message that they want to be #1 priority for their workers.

I liked this thread over at DVDVR, mostly because I've been saying it for a while now, so I figured I'd bring that discussion here. I guess the gist is whether one watches wrestling and interprets every fine detail, giving a match credit accordingly, or if one watches the match and only gives credit for clear, intentional story-telling. I personally prefer the latter, because realistically, one could interpret every meaningless, random, filler spot or transition as some fine, intricate story, even though there's almost no chance that the wrestlers intended it to have such a meaning. The end result might be that literally almost any match could be claimed as a great piece …

With Bret and Eddie already in, and Dusty probably next since he has a DVD coming out, who do you think will fill out the Class of 2006? Assuming a class size of 7, my picks: Bret Eddie Dusty Ricky Steamboat The Freebirds (with Ray Gordy doing the induction honors) Mr. Fuji (they always pick someone completely random) William Perry (he was in the Battle Royal at WM 2 in Chicago, and it would have someone other than Pete Rose in the "Celebrity Wing")

On Raw or Smackdown. You only get one. Heel or face. I'm curious as to what people will say. Will you pick someone that can wrestle? Someone with a lot of charisma? A good talker? If you were to "franchise" one wrestler from WWE, whom would it be? How young will they be? Will they have a lot of experience? A good merchandise mover? Someone well traveled in the business?

Taken from DVDVR: Re: No Way Out: -Changes were made at the PPV about how to handle the Guerrero-Mysterio-Orton storyline. Vickie Guerrero was supposed to be given a script for her segments, but at the day of the show Bruce Pritchard nixed it and just told Vickie to act natural and say what she thinks would be appropriate within the storyline. -Boogeyman tried using his OVW gimmick of taking big steps before hitting his finisher with the crowd chanting B-O-O-G-E-Y-M-A-N along with each step, but it wasn't explained on TV, so no one chanted it and as Boogey realized this, he stopped doing it and just hit his finisher. 8-10? I take it that NBC execs aren't familiar with the angles Vince has pushed over the past few years.

I was at the indy show on Friday, and it was fun, as I had hoped it would be, but there were a few things about it that bothered me. After going to my first indy wrestling show, I now completely understand and empathize with all the complaining about ROH fans. I thought the people on some forums ranting about that were just overreacting, but now I've seen first hand how EXCRUCIATINGLY ANNOYING indy fans can be. When I first heard the dueling chants on TNA PPV (ie "Let's go Petey...Let's go A.J.!"), I thought it was fun, but when people do dueling chants NONSTOP from the beginning of the match until the end, the chants lose all meaning and just become grating nonsense. I u…

I'm trying to think but I'm drawing a blank. When did it become common practice in the WWF to intentionally expose the weaknesses of their workers?

Something big as far as an announcement to wrestlers is expected on Monday at the combined Raw & Smackdown tapings in Washington, DC. All wrestlers on the roster, including the guys who haven't been used in a while, have been told they must be at the tapings. - Dave Meltzer Speculation? I don't have a clue.
