From Meltz (with the usual Meltzerian typos fixed by me): I was wondering how long TNA would put up with no-shows, since it seems like someone's MIA ever PPV they do. I'm sure the ROHbots will be upset, but for Strong and Aries to risk missing a PPV for a company with nationwide TV so they can work a show in a blizzard for an indy is kind of a slap in the face to TNA. Yeah I know they're getting a lot of talent from ROH but when a company has you booked for a PPV slot you should at least give the impression that they're the priority.

We never talk about the current product that much anymore. Well, unless it's like newsbits. Not a bad Raw. Here's some of my thoughts: - Raw started with the Diva's Battle Royal. If it's going to happen, they might as well get it out of the way early. The crowd gets to pop for all the attractive women coming out and the match was kept short. Candice got to the point quickly in her post-celebration promo and then Edge & Lita hit the ring. Edge hit his point quickly as well: Him & Foley at 'Mania. Not a great opening segment but they got their points across and did what needed to be done. Now we know that Candice is the #1 contender to Trish's women's titl…

I was watching a couple of matches of Velocity yesterday and I just couldn't get over the fact that it seems this guy has a fulltime gig now. I really can't think of any positives to hiring the guy. Has the guy even had a really good singles match?

from DVDVR Bret has mainly been talking to Kevin Dunn about the HOF ceremony. Meltzer thinks it's a way for Bret to say goodbye to his fans. They are going to beg him to work the PPV but Dave doesn't believe Bret will bite. Lots of heat on Vince and Steph for the Eddie angle. The creative team was against it but Steph insisted they go that direction. Vince approved. Vince's reply when someone question's him is "Look at the big picture". Morale is at an all time low and it's going to be interesting when contract renewals come up. Jarrett believed that Bret was never going to work for TNA and thought he would go back to Vince. When the HOF announcemen…

Over at DVDVR, there was a thread that got (prematurely, IMO) closed about RF and his new promotion losing their building. Basically, RF's new promotion was going to run in an Elks Lodge until a bunch of people were calling the Lodge and telling them about Rob's past. Now the Lodge said they're not hosting any more wrestling shows. This made me wonder, we excuse a lot of things under the banner of "it's just pro wrestling", but there was actually people defending RF in the DVDVR thread. There were comments basically saying people should let it go, it's been 2 years, etc. Are people that jaded or just stupid? For those who forgot/don't know, Rob was caught by a web …

Bret Hart v Undertaker - WWF One Night Only PPV 09/20/97 Atmosphere alone doesn't make a match, but it certainly goes a long way. Here, it adds an extra dimension to the work in the ring, an alternative way to interpret the actions of each man. What makes this match unique isn't the fact that the crowd is divided - we've seen that in many major matches. What makes this unique is that in most cases, a divided crowd results in a somewhat dull match with no established roles with everything getting cheered. In this case, a course of boos acts as a background vocal for the loud cheers both men receive - it's simply amazing that each man has so much hardcore support from t…

I'm listening to the Highspots shoot he did in 2004, and it's probably the greatest education you can get about the wrestling business. He's so straightforward to the point where he almost comes off mean, until you realize what he says is absolutely right. His greatest line is something Gorilla told him, if you're in the business for anything but making money you're an idiot. The surprising thing is he thinks the wrestling business is done in terms of being hugely popular, since the business is so open, people aren't going to pay money when they know how the tricks are done.

Got the Brock DVD from Netflix today, I put it in my DVD-Rom drive to watch it on my PC. I happened to have Windows Explorer open and I saw that the Disc ID (the label that shows up next to the drive letter) is WWE_BROCK_LESNER. Oof. Pretty sad when they release a DVD of a former WWE champion and botch the spelling of his name.

From Meltz: I don't know whats worse, getting Vicki and the kids involved when this whole deal is about getting Orton over, or the clowns at DVDVR who are telling people to stop complaining about the angle if his wife's okay with it.

I just picked up this set from a guy at Crazy Max and it's probably the most amazing collection of footage I've ever come across in one format. So be prepared for a full review of all of it soon, because it just blows me away that someone put this all in one set and I feel the need to share the love. I think EVERY wrestling fan should have this set, and at some point in the future, I might make some additions to it myself.

  25. I used to love Mick Foley. I wasn't any bandwagon jumper either. I followed Foley during his first WCW run...when I saw Sting kick his ass during his infamous "sit down" strike. I loved his Tag Team with Max Pain, and actually paid real money for Spring Stampede 1994 to see the Street Fight with the Nasty Boys. Being a fan of both ECW and IWA/FMW I followed him after WCW. King of the Death Match was the first Japanese Tape I ever bought. I was thrilled when he came to the WWF as Mankind, loved the feud with Taker, and was there watching for his career peak in 1997-2000. I own an autographed first addition of "Have A Nice Day." I wasn't upset when he came out of …
