It seems like every fed in Japan has offshoots these days, is there any clear way of explaining who's tied to who? Japan's starting to look like the territory days where there was a zillion promotions all affiliated with a larger group. Also, am I correct in placing the big 3 Japan feds as NOAH>All Japan>New Japan? I know AJ had some problems, but from what I can tell they've started to rebound and NJ has hit the skids hard.

I'm curious as to which wrestling move would you never take and shy away from. For me personally, as much as I love the move, I'm scared shitless of taking the Canadian Destroyer from anyone else than Williams and even then I'm worried I'd botch it.

So I didn't cancel, but I'm not posting on the boards anymore either. Anyway, here's the news: -- Vince is considering Flair v Dusty for Wrestlemania, but is still adamant about Flair v Steamboat not happening. -- Vince wants to move Rey to RAW in this year's draft so he can feud with HHH. HHH wants the feud as well. The reason for the move to RAW is because he's wanting to boost RAW's numbers on Telemundo, which is owned by NBC, to give him more stroke with NBC. They also want to do a Rey/Carlito feud, which they actually think will be a recreation of Rey/Eddy. -- Lots of heat on Randy Orton for this Friday's SmackDown promo, with the mindset that he shoul…

Yeah, so on SD this week, Randy Orton insults Eddie, then challenges Rey to put up his WM title shot at No Way Out. And, like an idiot, Rey agrees. Looks like Orton/Angle is definitely going to be the plan (as rumored), while Rey gets bumped down to some meaningless undercard match (vs. Book for the US Title?). Oh, and they'll use Eddie's death to put heat on Orton, since he's nowhere near over enough to be ME'ing for the title at WM. Fun all around, to be sure. What a pile of suck.

Better one day early than never. Wild Pegasus v El Samurai - NJPW 07/07/95 How do I put this nicely? THIS IS A VERY BORING MATCH. You could have heard a pin drop in the audience until about the 18-minute mark, when they sort of pop for a few spots, and then you don't hear another peep until the 25-minute mark, when they start doing the quick, try-to-get-the-fall-before-the-time-expires false finishes to only passing heat. No semblances of roles here, no advantages or disadvantages from either guy. It's often stated that NJ juniors in the mid-90s did pointless matwork for the first 5-10 minutes of their matches that had no affect on the match at all. This is that s…

IN other thread people mentioned the heart punch, tongan death grip, garvin stomp, people's elbow and others I'm forgetting. I don't think any of those is as bad as the claw. Yes the claw was protected and worked for me when I was a kid. But looking back it's just so horribly unbelievable that the implication that it hurts at all is just blah. I also hate the fact that anytime someone doesn't have a finisher now they give him so fucked up spinning DDT variation.

I can't believe Kevin Von Erich's son wants to get into the business. I guess they must not talk about his uncles very much. Isn't it ironic that DiBiase has heat for being too 80s, yet they wanted to team up Dean Visk with the WARLORD? Who's more 80s than him?

from DVDVR Board: Shelton B. is expected to beat Flair for the IC title Raven is having severe health problems as it relates to his past abuses of recreational and performance enhancing drugs. His thyroid is all messed up. The reason TNA had their unopposed Monday night show canceled the week that the dog show is preempting RAW, is because TNA was told by Spike to sign another marquee talent (ala Sting) and failed to do so. Jeff Jarrett contacted The Rock recently asking advice about product advice. TNA and the UFC are sharing much the same audience on Spike. This was not the case when UFC and WWE were both on the network. Dave suggests that TNA is mor…

With many of us having received the DVDVR sets and most of us seeing new footage we haven't seen before in the past few months, how would you guys feel about redoing the WWF tournament and at least changing the time parameters enough to where guys like Backlund, Muraco, Adonis, Patera and Patterson would get a fair shake? Maybe 1979-2006? Thoughts?

Smackdown was a lot of fun tonight. The four highlights being of course Benoit vs Orton, Mysterio vs Henry , Finlay vs Funaki plus the footage of Benoit/Rey and Santo giving tribute to Eddie Guerrero in Mexico. The rest was passable but there was nothing else you really have to see. Mysterio vs Henry was another pretty good match that really picked up once Mysterio got on offence towards the end. I won't ruin it but I will say the transistion Rey uses to go from defence to offence was superb and is something everyone should check out. Really fun finising stretch here with Rey using all sorts of fun offence. I enjoy Rey more now than I did in WCW. He was great he…

What's the deal with people hating the Canadian Destroyer? Sure, it's not something you could do in a real fight, but the majority of moves in wrestling require co-operation from both parties. I don't get why there's such a hatred for it.

Any word of what's on it? It's only a 1 disc set so I know it won't be a lot, but I'm looking forward to seeing some 70s WWWF action. Along the same lines, I wonder if they'd ever do a DVD of Bruno Sammartino. I know he won't have anything to do with WWE now, but it'd be cool if they honored the longest reigning champ in company history.

I found the above quotes by Loss very interesting so I thought I'd comment. Let me say why I disagree with this. He's talking about a few in-ring things. Tully and Arn made guys. They taught them how to work and led to them being superstars. They worked in a time when the tag team scene was red hot. They were part of one of the most succesful gimmicks in the history of the business, and plied their trade in both major federations to great success. MNM cannot be called "the new Tully and Arn" because they haven't done much. Two good matches? Big damn deal. They use a lot of the same match gimmicks that Tully and Arn used? Infused a little psychology? Big deal. Eve…

There aren't that many. Jushin Liger Aja Kong Jumbo Tsuruta Mitsaharu Misawa Kenta Kobashi Terry Funk Ric Flair Jaguar Yokota Akira Hokuto Barry Windham Toshiaki Kawada Harley Race Eddy Guerrero Can't think of anyone else now. There are alot of guys that and gals that are probably better, but I can conceive of an argument for Slaughter (see Dick Beyer, Stan Hansen, Nick Bockwinkel), then there are alot of people that I would rate right on his level (guys like Owen, Adonis, Bret), but I really can't think of very many that are clearly better. Of course I'm probably overrating him, but am I the only one really high on Sarge?

Who would be interested in a 12 disc Hart Foundation comp that goes from Sur. Series 96 to Sur. Series 97? The last disc is an epilogue of the fallout after Survivor Series. All of the PPV matches are either from DVD or VHS masters. The TV is all 1st gen SP transfers. Everything is VG to EX VQ. If interested, PM me and maybe we can have a discussion on the merits of episodic TV and how it can be done right. However, I need to make sure there is interest in such a comp before I start distributing so I am going to wait for 10 commitments before going further. I think $60 is a fair donation for the footage someone would receive. Tell me what you think. Disc 1 Bret v. A…

Everyone at one time or another has liked angles or matches that probably aren't technically good but have some sort of sick appeal. So what matches and angles are guilty pleasures for you? For me: Matches: Jake Roberts v Rick Martel Blindfold Match from WM 7. I could watch this match over and over again for some reason. Martel dropping the elbow on the bare mat is still one of the funniest visuals I've ever seen in wrestling. Hogan/Beefcake v Savage/ Zeus from Summerslam 89. Don't know why but this is a really fun match with incredible heat. Helps that Schiavone and Jesse are great on commentary during the match especially Jesse's misogynistic…
