This seems to be the starting point. What age group are we targeting first and foremost? What TV stations, time slots and length of programming are we wanting? Let's brainstorm.
-
You have a roster of as many guys or as few guys as you want, you can choose wrestlers from the past or present. Who books it, what would the focus, style and goals of the promotion be, who would be the top talent, the undercard and the announcers, the promoter, etc? Go as far with this as you want and feel free to go into everything from marketing to public relations to how you would build talent for the future. Leave no stone unturned.

This category will be for all WCW and NWA matches that took place between May of 1985 and March of 2001. Pay-per-view nominations aren't necessary for this thread. What we're needing for this thread is the following: Handheld recommendations -- VERY IMPORTANT TV recommendations - 1985-1988 TV recommendations - 1991, 2000-2001 TV recommendations (NOT Nitro) 1995-1999 Please do not post any recommendations that do not fit one of these categories, as those matches are already taken care of. I will post those in this thread soon. Thanks.

This was a game mentioned by Spike Dudley a couple of years back on WWE.com. Basically, someone mentions a wrestler's name (ex: Wrestler X) and the next name is a letter that starts with that wrestler's last name (ex: X The Wrestler) and so on. Chris Benoit Brock Lesnar Ray Traylor That's sort of how it would go. Anyway, I thought we'd try it here. Let's see how long we can keep it going. I have a feeling we can make it last months. We'll modify the rules for the purpose of message boarding and say that anyone who repeats a name is eliminated from the game. Ready? Let's go. First name: Lord Littlebrook

http://www.riverhorse.tv/projects/proj_catch.htm Catch: The Hold Not Taken looks at the origins of catch wrestling and the techniques that later became part of pro-wrestling. It covers the roots of the sport in Westmoreland, Cumberland and Cornish Wrestling, Bill Riley's Snake Pit Gym, Riley's influence on Karl Gotch as expllained by Tatsumi Fujinami and while it does have an old school wrestler taking a pop at the modern for of entertainment, this video is certainly worth picking up if anyone has a genuine interest in the evolution of wrestling and the days when Boston Crabs were not considered weak finishers.

We've been creeping around this discussion for several months now so might as well start a topic for it. I'll start it off with the Crusher and Dick the Bruiser. Terrible wrestlers for the most part and a horrible look. They would never get a look from most indies, TNA or the WWF yet they were huge draws during their time.

http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2AKCJNZ...T92RK6DLZLYDE3D This is, quite simply, a must-read. I don't know what the best part of the article is -- the fascinating details about Eddy's training, the way he was taught to throw a worked punch, the quotes about him from Rock, Konnan and Chris Jericho, the admission from Jericho that he and Eddy used to get together after shows and do GHB back in WCW, Eddy being told that he had the back of a 70-year old and being told he should retire last year, Paul Heyman's proposed booking for Eddy and Benoit in both ECW and WCW, the surprising Steve Austin mention ... this is the best thing I think Meltzer has ever done.

I just recently starting listening to The Law on a regular basis and I was just curious if there were any other radio shows and how popular they were.

The guy who's put most of wrestling's superstars back together at one point or another suffered a heart attack over the weekend and is in intensive care.

With all of the hooplah surrounding last night's show I figured I would do what all of you are doing tonight... watch RAW. I have not seen a RAW episode since the Eddie tribute and have not seen a complete episode since the 2004 draft. So, every half hour or so, I'll make my comments and go from there. First off, the Power Is Back video looks great. Never saw it before and I like the vibe. Also, the New Years Revolution recap should have just saved everyone $30 when planning to order the replay.

From WWE.com: I'm not quite sure what the appropriate reaction is here.

From PWInsider vis DVDVR: Well this is good news, and completely different from the "Sting won't put anyone over" story that came out when his signing was announced.

Yes, I actually care because I'm a mark for the Elimination Chamber gimmick and I'm holding out hope that we might get a new champion. Not because I don't think Cena is a good champion, he does at least get reactions, just because I'm a greedy fan and personally I want a new champ. This is also a reminder thread because a lot of people seem to forget about PPV's these days. Also, thread title: "idiot" You'll note that Helms/Lawler doesn't have a picture. That pretty much shows what WWE thinks of that match. Of course, it was just a throw together match at the last second and there's probably zero interest in that match. It's not like the pictures are real flatte…

Use this thread to nominate matches you've seen that you think are good that would fit in this category. We'll keep this and all other topics open for the remainder of the year so you can add matches anytime you come across something you see that you like.

Credit: PWInsider.com It's far, far, far too easy to get heat in wrestling. Just a reminder of why I'll never try to get into it.

I was watching this today, as seen as part of the WM box set, and it was interesting to watch it with more enlightened eyes. I saw things in a way I didn't when I was watching when it happened ( I was 12 at the time). First off, I noticed that what makes Jesse and Gorilla such a good team is that they're both ex-wrestlers. If someone went for a pin too early, they'd call them on it, and by the same token they did a superb job discussing the strategy for each guy in the match. They actually agreed with each other a lot more than I remembered, there was actually very little face/heel announcer bickering. One thing that immediately leaps to attention is not only …

Now, I'm sure I'm in the minority but I've been liking what's been happening on Smackdown lately. Not the whole Mark Henry/Batista stuff or the JBL/Boogeyman stuff but the Benoit/Booker stuff. It's almost like the injury to Booker has made it better. They teased Benoit getting swept. Now he's fighting back to even score. If you've read the spoilers for Smackdown on Friday, you know that Orlando Jordan gets involved now too. Orton is 0-2 against Benoit in this situation. Once because of Sharmell and the second time because of OJ. OJ in a backstage promo even made reference to holding the US title longer than Benoit and Booker when talking about Booker not showing him any r…

Alvarez's Sunday Update Same deal as the 04 Rumble with Holly and Lesnar. A jobber for Batista to feud with so they don't have to waste somebody "important" to do a big PPV job.

A new WWE DVD is coming out, called ECW's Most Extreme Matches. Paul Heyman is hosting. The idea behind hiring Shelton Benjamin's mama is to get him over as a mama's boy heel. The thought process is that she will get so over that he'll be over just by being associated with her. She's currently under a three-month deal, but it's expected that if she gets over like they expect, they will renew her deal. WWE was mad that Ted DiBiase collapsing made the Internet, despite the fact that it was reported by WWE.com. It wasn't heart problems, but rather the same inner ear condition that Ric Flair had at one time. Charlie Haas has officially re-signed with WWE. …

Vince's new moneymaking idea for the new guys coming up is "Team Spirit", a stable of male cheerleaders. Ken Doane apparently has been doing the gimmick in houseshows, Elijah Burke has already asked out of it. Surely this will turn things around in 2006.
