AJ Styles is expected to face Hiroshi Tanahashi at next week's pay-per-view. Samoa Joe injured his ankle at a recent IWA Mid South show. He appeared in front of the audience to tell them that he hurt himself, thinking that would be better than someone else doing it. He's expected to be OK by this weekend. AJ Styles was on Powerslam radio recently and noted that a lot of guys are directionless because of all the WWE guys coming in and taking their spots, and also that Jeff Jarrett getting as much TV time as he is is "confusing". He said Russo talked him into working his show and not Ring of Honor because Abyss is safe in the ring and he wouldn't be risking furthe…

So New Japan is turning away paying customers so they can give more tickets away? Do they not want to make money anymore? WWE doesn't even try to hold that suspension of disbelief. What next, will John Witherspoon show up next as Shelton's grizzled dad who clears out the locker room when he takes a shit? The part about not complaining about the schedule pisses me off, as it's a symbol of all that's wrong with wrestling. I don't know if Regal was playing the role of sockpuppet for Vince or if he really feels that way since he's a legit badass, but when most people you work with are on painkillers to some extent or another it's moronic to say people shouldn't as…

Kurt Angle Shawn Michaels AJ Styles Christopher Daniels Kenta Kobashi John Bradshaw Layfield Necro Butcher We've done some of these before, but I thought it would be fun to revisit them, and especially in the context of them all being the most debated wrestlers on the Internet these days.

According to PWI. Hell, I was just watching The Longest Yard and wondering why Vince hadn't signed him yet

Called "Good bye WWF as we know" , it's a salute to the pre-WWE era. Watching this made me play a little game called "count the markouts".

TNA is considering adding a Women's title (NWA World Women's title perhaps?) and a tag team X divison title sometime in the next year. The X tag title would add some depth to the division and give some of the guys not in the singles X title hunt something to do, and I have to admit I'm interested to see what a non WWE company can do with women's wrestling. I don't see why it can't find a niche without having to be reduced to bra and panty jello pudding fights.

but for those who haven't, enjoy as the New Age Outlaws shoot on HHH. This is probably the best example of the messenger ruining the message. No doubt what they say is true, or at least greatly based in fact, it's still fucking Road Dogg and Billy Gunn bitching about people not doing their best to elevate talent.

So I'm going through the extras on the Bret DVD since I admit I'm not a real huge fan so I wasn't too interested in the main interview portion. I came across on disc 1 an extra called "Bret remembers his colleagues that passed away" or something to that effect. It was Bret talking about all the people he's worked with that have died, and it was just mind blowing. The list of names itself was almost mind numbing: Owen, Davey, Pillman, Bossman, Perfect, Kerry, Rude (Bret even broke down when talking about him), Hawk, and especially Elizabeth, who Bret even compared to his mother by saying "both were too good for wrestling". We all know the stories, but to see it put to vide…

I've been watching this off and on, and it's just amazing. Some of the VQ isn't great but it's the history of Piper's Pit from the first segment in 1984 up till the angle with Adrian Adonis at WM 3. All the famous moments are included: Piper slapping around jobber Frankie Williams (capped off by the famous "just when they think they have the answers" line). Piper turning Snuka into a human fruit salad. Piper and Captain Lou badmouthing Cyndi Lauper that turned into the birth of Rock N' Wrestling and the build to WM I. Piper abducting midget wrestler Haiti Kid and shaving his hair into a mohawk because he was a fan of Mr. T. The whole Pi…

Taken from several boards (TSM, DVD,etc) Juvi has a lot of heat on him. So much so that Crazy and Psychosis are begging to be split from him. He wanted his girlfriend to be his valet but it was nixed because she doesn't speak english. He asked why Booker gets to have a valet and management said because Sharmell is his wife, is under contract and speaks English. Johnny Ace wants to sign Samoa Joe to be the monster heel that Rikishi couldn't pull off in 2000. Joe invited Brian Gewirtz to a ROH show to send a message to TNA that he is willing to negotiate with WWE. The Tim White angle was Gewirtz's idea and Stephanie insisted on it happening despite pr…

So, was the angle tonight more of an apology on Vince's part (taking into account his fucked up, egod-driven, hubris-filled logic) or was it just another pot shot? Bygones be bygones, I haven't let go when you have? The recap makes me think the former, but Vince makes me think the latter. And it's nice how if it is the latter, Michaels throws himself in a rather favorable position. Anyone care to tell me?

I'm not posting the whole thing but there's a video package for an inring return for Fit Finley. So who's the first to complain about him working too stiff?

Caught that in the SD spoilers. No idea how much time it got, but hopefully they get more than a few minutes. Their 1st 2 matches were pretty damn good, so you may want to make a note to check it out.

Last night on Meltzer's show Meltz was talking about HHH and Hogan holding people down and comparing the two. HOwever, I do not care about HHH holding people down. I am more interested when Meltzer made the following comment. "The bottom line is there was nobody ... I dont care who says what about anything... there was nobody in that period from 1984 to 1989 who put in the position of Hulk Hogan would have done as good as Hulk Hogan drawing the money. Nobody." Do you agree or disagree? Discuss.

The question is simple enough. What's the longest beatdown of a face you've ever seen? What's the most amount of time you've ever seen before the face makes his comeback?

I was watching the Looney Tunes Golden Collection 3 today, listening to the commentary tracks and learning about the history behind the cartoons we all grew up with. One of the things you learn is that Bob Clampett (director of some of the early Bugs Bunny cartoons, among others) claimed he was the sole creator of Bugs Bunny, much to the chagrin of the other famous directors who had more of a hand in the creation. Fast forward to today and there's a group of people like Ren and Stimpy creator John K who worship the ground Clampett walks on and takes the time on his commentary on the Golden Collection to bash other directors at every opportunity. Why? Mainly because histo…

I thought this might be of interest. Christmas hasn?t been a popular day to run shows in W/WWF/E country but a few have taken place over the years. The first two aren?t WWWF cards per say, just shows where the champion appeared. Miami Beach, FL ? Convention Hall - December 25, 1964 WWWF World Champion Bruno Sammartino defeated Duke Keomuka 3 other bouts Atlanta, GA - City Auditorium - December 25, 1979 Steve Travis fought Prof. Toru Tanaka to a draw Tommy Rich & Ray Candy defeated Ernie Ladd & Ox Baker Killer Khan defeated Bob Armstrong in a judo jacket match Ric Flair fought Georgia TV Champion Austin Idol to a no contest WWF Wo…

I was talking to Loss about this and i was concerned about the lack of discussion when it comes to old school wrestling. To be honest, anytime a topic comes up talking about older territories or even early WCW, there is usually a tepid response. We had a decent Mid South thread going for awhile but that was me, Loss, Tim Cooke and sek ramblin on. For awhile, it was just me and Loss posting our match reviews. EastCoastJ brought up World Class recently and that thread went nowhere also. So, would anyone like to hear more old school talk or am I the only one?

Will things get better or worse? Do you see any new stars emerging? Will Edge's MITB gimmick be totally forgotten or will it be honored? Will HHH regain the gold? Will the drug testing have a severe adverse effect on the roster? Will The Rock, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar, Steve Austin or Bill Goldberg return? Will the gap between TNA and WWE close at all? Who will headline Wrestlemania? What will the big story of the year be? What do you think is the most important decision WWE will make next year? Let's discuss.
