I know we have probably done one of these in the past but I am going to resurrect the topic for some of the guys who have just joined recently. So, what is your favorite promotion and what time period? I have two so I'll respond later with my own thoughts.

It's been a rough month for All Japan's roster. Jamal, Giant Bernard, the Dudleys, Taiyo Kea and a few other guys are now gone from the promotion. It's looking really bad for All Japan as they have little money and a very depleted roster. So do you think they'll survive 2006?

Abyss: Truely a top worker in the U.S. right now and it seems smarks shit all over him because he's a big guy. I've seen a lot of unwarranted bashing that goes his way. America's Most Wanted: Miles ahead of the Impact Players and the Eliminators but get hated for being TNA's golden boys. It seems a lot of workers are currently getting unfairly shit on because they work in TNA and not RoH. AJ Styles: I can understand thinking he's overrated but the level of hate he gets on some boards is beyond stupid. Can't you just think a guy isn't as good as others think without taking every possible chance to take a shot at the guy? Masahiro Chono: Give the guy a…

Which order would you place the following matches in? I'm curious. Misawa v Kawada - 6/3/94 Misawa/Kobashi v Kawada/Taue - 6/9/95 Misawa/Akiyama v Kawada/Taue - 12/6/96 Hokuto v Kandori - 4/2/93 Toyota/Yamada v Ozaki/Kansai - 11/26/92 When discussing the top five matches of the 90s, these are, most of the time, the matches that come up more than any others. So, how would you rank them compared to each other, and why would you say some are better than others? I've never heard much extended talk about the 6/95 and 12/96 tags for example, or comparing 6/3/94 to those matches. Nor have I heard much comparing AJW's peak to AJPW's peak. Misawa/Kobashi v K…

Necro Butcher: It seems people get a hardon because he's a deathmatch wrestler that has some basic fundamentals of actual wrestling. He's probably the best garbage wrestler I've seen but that's not really saying anything about the guy. I've seen him called a top 5 worker on the indy scene and that's just insane. CW Anderson: Everything this guy does screams of a 2nd rate Arn Andersom impression. I've never seen the guy in anything passing as good. I have seen him many times drag a capable worker into an awful match. Jimmy Rave: This is a guy that went from being underrated to being completely overrated in the span of about a month. Ebessan: Just don…

Taken from various boards and sites.: Matt Hardy was supposed to be chokeslammed by Undertaker at the end of Survivor Series. Hardy bailed on the fly because he thought it would "hurt his momentum" (what momentum?) Taker chewed him out in public in front of the boys, called him a mark and that he should respect the veteran wrestlers more. Apparently the squash at the PPV was his punishment. Big suprise, Hogan is upset at his Summerslam payoff. The New RAW GM should be Dusty Rhodes. Vince is not allowing Benoit and Rey to work an Eddy memorial show in Mexico Hogan wants to work Cena, Angle or Big Show if Austin won't do the WM match. Rey a…

Reading the Final Battle 2005 results got me thinking of chants that annoy me. Here's a list: "5 star match" "MOTY" "this is awesome" "ECW" - actually any chant that requires you chanting the companies name "holy shit" "can't see shit" "boring" "USA" towards foreigners, still acceptable for Duggan matches

Every time I watch and review a match that I dig, I always find myself questioning the nature of professional wrestling. Why did I like it? What made it good? How does it correspond to my existing views on wrestling? If it doesn't allign with my previous notions, what changes? Wrestling is not just one thing, it's many things to many people. A few days ago on the subject of "technical wrestling" in another thread, Loss mentioned that what I defined as technical wrestling sucked (to him, at least). Knowing what Loss likes (somewhat), I can understand that POV. I, of course, do not subscribe to it at all. Han vs. Tamura is one of those matches where we'd have deep …

I recently acquired a huge chunk of shoot interviews so instead of doing reviews, I'll post random thoughts on them. feel free to join in. Raven and Sandman - This is fucking hilarious. Seriously, there are no shortages of funny stories with this one. The one that stands out is when they are talking about the Sign Guy in the audience. Raven said that one day when Sign Guy was at the gym looking for wrestlers, Stevie Richards, who was a heel at the time, happened to be there. Stevie recognized him and went up to say hi but Sign Guy, thinking he was a face refused to shake Stevie's hand and simply said "Kayfabe." After Raven heard that shit, he created Sign Guy D…

Anyone else plan on watching this tonight? I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm going to watch it and then hopefully get home in time to catch the LAW. I think that TNA have done a better than average job of building to this PPV. I care about almost every match. I don't care about everyone in every match but I still want to see the outcomes of the matches.

Ok, since the Benoit topic degenerated into a Vince McMahon debate, I felt it was time to branch off and try figure out just how much of a genius Vince McMahon is. THere is no doubt he is the most successful wrestling promoter of all time. However, Vince McMahon has had so many gifts handed to him on a silver platter only for him to shit them away. So, lets dive into the genius and idiocy of Vince McMahon and see which is more prevalent.

Scott Keith states on his blog that he's being considered as a ghostwriter for Chris Jericho's book. Hopefully someone Jericho talks to on a regular basis like Dave Meltzer will clue him in that SK is not the guy for that job. I can't understand why Jericho, a pretty smart guy with a degree in Journalism, is not going to write the book himself, but maybe he simply doesn't have the time. Jericho's book, if written honestly without fear of hurting feelings, could be as telling as any book ever written about pro wrestling, considering that he's had long runs in FMW, NJPW, WAR, EMLL, SMW, ECW, WCW and WWE, trained in Stu Hart's dungeon and has crossed paths with nearly e…

Taken from one of those posts on WO that's just a shill for some internet radio show: Wow, I never heard anyone say HHH jobs too much before. What happened betweeen him and Muta, anyone know the story there? Much like the HHH comment, the Sting remark is the polar opposite of what most people's opinons are.

What does it take to be successful in professional wrestling? A lot of factors are thrown around: charisma, workrate, drawing power, etc. However, do any of them matter as much as simply having the company behind you? For example, let's look at WWE. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wasn't anything too special when he was the "Ringmaster." At least popularity wise. He certainly wasn't a "main eventer" when he was losing matches to Savio Vega. After he cut the "3:16" promo at the King of the Ring in 1996, the fans caught on. Maybe a little before that even, people started to notice him. Even jaded fans were behind him after his submission match with Bret Hart at Wrestlemania 13. H…

1988 ALL JAPAN REAL WORLD TAG LEAGUE FINALS Stan Hansen & Terry Gordy v Genichiro Tenryu & Toshiaki Kawada Anyone have any thoughts on this match they'd like to share? I personally thought it was a great match with a lot of exciting work and an unbelievably hot crowd, but there were some legal man issues that kept it from being an all-time classic for me and made it hard to stay involved in the match. That's really the only flaw I have with this match at all, and it's amazing how the 1988 style in Japan is probably more modern than the 2005 WWE style. Probably the second best RWTL final of the 80s, behind the '81 one featuring Hansen's All Japan debut.

Sorry if this is similiar to the looks thread but I've been really bothered by some of the threads I've read lately at various sites. I've had to really think about a lot of the recent wrestling deaths and the answers I've seen in other people's posts and fan attitude in general were not pleasant. It made me realize that we as fans are just as responsible for every wrestling death as the companies that hire them. We just don't fucking get it. People mourn someone like Eddie's loss and ask why this happened but they never learn anything. They constantly show they haven't by the threads I listed in the first paragraph. These same people will of course mourn and ask wh…

  25. I've read some alarming threads since the death of Eddy Guerrero at various message boards, threads that show that so many people learned absolutely nothing from this tragedy, and threads that show that so many people are hypocritical. People were so sad when Eddy Guerrero died. Then news comes out that Trevor Murdoch is about to be given a singles push. Then I notice people complaining about Trevor's push because he looks "ugly" and "out of shape". Seriously, FUCK YOU if you think that. If you think that, congratulations, because you were an accomplice in the death of Eddy Guerrero, of Brian Pillman, of Louie Spicolli, of all of the wrestlers who have died too young…
