Are there any rumors floating around about someone in management being upset with him? I mean I don't think the guy's won a match since June. Tonight he had to job to a tag wrestler.

I?m curious as to what you guys regard as the top 10 feuds in the history of the company, from 1963 to the present. It can be based on nostalgia, drawing power, quality of matches, or the amount of heat. The criteria are entirely up to you but state your case and provide evidence to back it up.

I got this from goodhelmet today and was eager to watch the match that everyone is clamoring over. Did it live up to the hype? Honestly, I'd have to say no, only because it had that new-Star-Wars-movie level of hype that no match could have lived up to. I think a lot of the hype was from ROH fans having a collective orgasm over seeing one of their Japanese heroes live in person. Match of the year? Most likely. I heard some people talking as if it was the greatest match ever, which I'd argue was a bit of overhype. Having said that, it was certianly one of the better matches I've seen in a long time. You know how sometimes discussions here end up comparing wrest…

When I posted the taping results, the reaction was basically that TNA was dumb for running Christian vs Monty so soon. Having seen the show, I think I can see where this is going and why it might just work. So JJ is facing Rhyno at the PPV, and he mentioned that Raven's a former champ and didn't get a title shot. So make it part of the "Larry Z fucks with Raven" storyline and have Raven interfere in the match to stick it to Larry for not giving him a shot (meaning JJ retains). Then have Monty challenge JJ on the New Year's Eve show and have him Pounce Jeff back to 1997, now you have literally the whole year to have Christian chasing Monty for the NWA title.

I watched a lot of wrestling during the last couple of weeks. Two matches that moved me were with Williams vs Kawada and Williams vs Kobashi from 9/23/94 Williams vs Kawada is one of my all time favourite matches. I'm not quite sure of the date though because it's on a comp. Williams was a monstor and I loved how Kawada gradually knocked him down bit by bit until he got the eventual pinfall. Williams was just the perfect champion at the time. Believable, pulling off great matches, tough, charasmatic and strong as anything. I've always been impressed by his work ethic. I don't think people realise how hard he actually works in the ring. This is something that …

I hope WWE comes to its senses and realizes that Joey Styles is proabably the best wrestling announcer out there now. He gives the product a more professional edge just by his knowledge of moves and history that put him roughly a zillion miles ahead of anyone employed by the E. Anyone else heard about this?

Which seems a bit of a shame. Voting for the WWF thing is back to February and Watts is now not the next one, because Barnett is getting a garage full of tapes. Now it's other Japan men, which will probably be cancelled too because someone else finds something else, and so on until our deaths. Grumble grumble.

So Chikara Pro had some 16 man elimination match that went for 104 minutes over the weekend. This spurred an interesting debate elsewhere about match length. IMO, there's no credible way for a wrestling match to go to 104 minutes. I just don't see how even the most gifted workers could make that long of a match work. I think it's too long to keep people's attention and I don't think any wrestler has the kind of moveset to make that work. I notice my enjoyment of matches starts to slowly dip at the 45 minute mark. I've only liked a few matches that have gone around 60 minutes (not counting Rumbles) and I think 60-65 minutes is about the max that any match sho…

After one of the fights at the UFC show tonight (which was otherwise disappointing, by the way) UFC President Dana White came out to make some major announcements... Liddell/Couture III is signed, sealed and will be delivered on February 4th 2006. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Awesome. Former Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir is finally making his comeback in 2006. Arlovski vs. Mir WILL finally happen in 2006. Dana thanks the fans for their support of The Ultimate Fighter. The coaches for season 3 are announced and they are KEN SHAMROCK and TITO ORTIZ!!! Both Ken and Tito make their way out. Ken gets cheers, Tito gets a mixed reaction. Ken and Tito get into a sh…

I'm about to start watching a comp of recommended Yoshida matches and I wanted to keep them separate so she can be discussed in-depth in this thread if the opportunity comes up. So this is the thread for it. First up: Mariko Yoshida v Candy Okutsu - 12/18/98 Hmmm. I think Yoshida's performance was better than the match itself in this case. I did like that there was a very competitive feel, but I didn't like that Okutsu wrestled like she was trying to upstage her opponent the entire time. Candy -- at least in this match -- comes across as someone who thinks that wrestling is just moves. Without Yoshida to ground things, I don't know how much purpose or directio…

When asked about Montreal, Earl says he did not know the finish until about ten minutes before the match. Dave says that he had the car waiting to take Earl out of the building. Earl then chimes in that he told Dave right before he went on. I findthis to be total bullshit. Dave had the car running and ready to go but only knew ten minutes before the match? Please. On Montreal, Earl says, "But you know, as I look at it now and probably a week later after it happened, out of al lthe people working there, Bret was screwing each and every one of them... including myself. As my OCD continues to run rampant, I now must make a list of my personal top 25 matches. At first, I thought I would do nothing more than a list but lists without comments generally suck. So with each match, I will try to give a simple run down of why it makes such a high ranking with myself and any other comments that are necessary. This list is also going to be very limited when it comes to All Japan 1990's. Not because the matches aren't great, but because I can not for the life of me, get into them at this moment. 2 guys with awesome punches, stomps, knees, etc. give me much more joy these days....who knows why? Started thinking about this on Saturday so …

Credit: PWI Insider I admit to being in awe of this stuff five or six years ago, but these are the kinds of matches I've typically been the most uninterested by anytime they've popped up on recent WWE releases. A more shaped card for the release will help me get off the fence, but this'll be a release that has most ECW mideons going, "OMG BEST DVD EVAR!~"

As epidemic as the issue of early deaths in professional wrestling has become, it seems to me as though the tragedies have probably peaked, and in fact probably peaked a year or two ago. When you look at those who have passed away, most have careers that spanned roughly two decades and either fall into the category of being unhealthily thick in a 1980's sense, or of having substance abuse problems that likely lasted for years. Guys who were considered to have great bodies in the 1980's like Road Warrior Hawk and Hercules were bulky but not cut, and didn't seem to have the cardiovascular conditioning that a lot of bigger guys have today. Diets didn't seem to be n…

I thought we could use a change of pace. A topic not associated to Eddie Guerrero's death. My vote is for James Gibson. Everything I saw from him this year has been fantastic. He put on a ton of great matches in ROH and his promos were money. I've always liked him but this year he's really stood out to me. Runner-up would probably be Samoa Joe.

So with Batista hurt, Christian in TNA and Eddie passing away there's a huge void left on Smackdown. If Benoit walks this month that's another upper card guy down. This leaves JBL, Matt Hardy, Rey Misterio, Booker T and Randy Orton as the main guys left. So what do they do. Finally end the split or import Raw stars.
