From this week's Observer WTF? I am speechless. For shits and giggles, can someone please attempt to support the Fed's position in this case. The dumbest thing ever. They might as well send a letter to the keeper of Karen Carpenter's estate asking them to cease and desist putting that song on any future Carpenters' releases.

Does it even start tonight??? Honestly, I thought it debuted tonight. I could be wrong.

On Monday, Edge and Matt Hardy will have a loser-leaves-town ladder match. Now, the outcome isn't really in doubt as Meltz had this to say... From this week's Observer... Now, I haven't seen this theory put out there yet but I am sure someone else has thought of it. I think since they are having SD! wrestlers featured on Monday that during the ladder match, Christian will come down and cost Hardy the match. From there, Hardy is forced to move to SD! and he has a built-in feud with Christian who cost Hardy his final revenge. Now, it is no secret that Hardy's angle has not been capitalized on and any steam it had in the beginning has dissipated. I know they h…

I'm going to be needing Benoit vs Regal from Velocity on some kind of format besides the online one. Anyone know of someone transferring this from WWE.com to VHS or DVD? Thanks in advance.

Yes, this sounds like a weird topic, but browsing through some of the DVDs, I noticed that most wrestlers looked like the average Joe 20 years ago, and now, they all look like bodybuilders. There's something perversely charming about someone the size of an Adrian Adonis or Buddy Rose bumping like crazy, and it's sad that if someone who looked out of shape had that amount of talent today, they wouldn't get an opportunity to showcase it, as wrestling is all about looks now. Here's hoping Trevor Murdoch makes it far.

While I was in between rounds of packing, I was reading stuff on wikipedia (which I know only has the credibility of the anonymous writers who add to it). On it, they say TNA ceased to be an NWA member in 2004. I know they have a deal to use the NWA World and Tag titles, and 2004 was about the time they stopped billing themselves as NWA-TNA but the NWA homepage still considers TNA a member. So what's the straight scoop? *edit* I just checked the NWA page again, and they don't list TNA as a member anymore. Isn't that kind of a dumb deal for the NWA to sign their world titles over to a fed not even a member?

Had SD Tivo'd and watched it earlier tonight, and thought this was really nice 10-minute TV match. I was shocked that Wade Keller was unimpressed by it. They don't really expand beyond the basics, but they go down the beaten path in awesome fashion. Christian getting hiptossed early and trying to get revenge doing the same move, only to get blown off, is a great comedy spot. Another great comedy spot is Christian throwing the ref in front of himself to distract Booker so he could sneak in a thumb to the eye. Nice build to the nearfalls, and even the finish worked because the match was constructed in that direction. I didn't like it, mainly because Sharmell is supposed to …

I want to know when you think MOTY nominations should end? If we end sometime in November, I can probably have the sets ready at the beginning of the year. If we stop at December's end, we will be able to consider all matches from this year. However, it will be mid-February before we are able to vote and all other MOTY contests will be finished. The drawback is we will be behind the times but the positive is we will be able to vote on a true MOTY instead of a Match of the past 12 months. You decide.

Since the year is nearing its end, I am thinking of creating a comp of MOTYCs. It will probably be 3-4 discs long and contain matches from WWE, Japan, Mexico and the Indys. So, lets make a list and see what is worthy of inclusion on the comps.

Apparently Spike is censoring any mention of USA tonight. They keep cutting to a "Techinical Difficulties" screen any time a sign that said "USA owns Spike" sign got on TV.

They're kinda egging WWE to sue, aren't they? I feel sorry for the first announcer to misspeak and call them by their WWE owned names.

I was reading an interview with Don West, and when asked about the negative reaction Jeff Jarrett gets from net fans, he basically said he must be doing his job (as a heel) well if he's ticking people off. Now I know he's not going to bash his company's owner/booker/champ, but I hear this a lot from wrestling companies small and large that if the net hates someone, it's because the person's so good at heeling. WWE trots this line out when the HHH bashing gets hot and heavy as well. Meltz likes to trumpet how many people in the biz read WO, they have to know the difference between "I hate you because you're a heel doing heel shit" heat and "I hate you because you're u…

Thought we'd make this a weekly thing. Slim pickings this week, but I just finished watching Velocity and the Regal/Burchill v Scotty/Funaki tag definitely gets my pick. Really fun, well structured match with lots of heat and some nice submission stuff from the heels. Booker/Christian would be #2.

Sheesh. This is the guy TNA's relying on to carry the ball on national TV? Reading this, my mind formed a vision of JJ and Killings doing the Chevy Chase-Richard Pryor SNL skit, with Killings replying to JJ by saying "DEAD Honky!@!"

I originally posted this at my TSM blog, so I just c/p'ed it over here. Oh and hi, I'm new here. Kobashi vs. Akiyama (12/23/00) The Good - Akiyama plays his role as an asshole well, Kobashi plays the role of his angered opponent well. Akiyama doesn't give clean breaks, so Kobashi brutalizes him when he gets Jun in the corner. - The strikes and execution was stiff and believable. No surprise here and nothing out of the oridnary for these guys. - They fought for the moves really well, particular the dangerous moves. The fight for the ring side suplex, the fight/tease of the ramp to floor exploder was particular good. Jun did a good job trying to get…

Someone asked him about the future of tag team wrestling in WWE, noting that they've pulled away from tag wrestling lately. JR's response: Tag teams don't get as over as singles? That must come as a surprise to the Rock n' Rolls, the Midnights, Von Erichs, Freebirds, Road Warriors, Fabs, and about a zillion other tag teams that were the top draws of their promotions. I almost agree with him about a lack of quality team until I remember they break up every tag team as soon as they get a small amount of success. The moment a team debuts, they immediately start planning their breakup. They don't even do that well either, since instead of a potentially hot bre…

What is the right way to get the most out of fresh talent you have coming into the company? (1) Shove them to the top of the card. Don't have them lose at all if they're new because the fresh stars shouldn't be putting over the stale ones. or ... (2) Force them to pay their dues with the crowd and work their way through the ranks. Each point has merit, but it seems like in many cases, by the time WWE decides a wrestler is ready for a big push, they're no longer fresh and a lot of the novelty is gone. I think of guys like Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho that should have been pushed hard immediately and weren't and suffered for it, but on the flip side,…

In their continuing effort to give OVW call-ups the most career crushing gimmicks right out of the box, Nick Nemeth (who's in a good feud with Ken Doane for the OWV TV title) debuted as Kerwin White's golf caddy.

What, did someone in WWE notice that TNA has the NWA championship and decide to combat it with 1985's biggest stars?

Both guys had their peak overness with (or against) Evolution. Was their overness because they were associated with HHH - who is such a great character and has such great promos and someone who the fans just hate, that they liked both guys in relation to HHH -, or because they were associated with a group that got lots of attention and storyline focus that it was inevitable for the crowd to like them? Or did they just get over on their natural ability? I haven't really formed my opinion yet. Give it some thought.

According to the Observer and the Torch, Sean Waltman has resurfaced just as his immediate family was on the verge of filing a missing persons report. No one knew where he was for a week. TNA was pretty upset because they wanted to feature him prominently on the Spike TV show, and from all accounts, he's been having a career renaissance lately in the ring. No explanation was given for his whereabouts, but this comes at a pretty bad time for him, because WWE was starting to show interest in rehiring him and TNA was willing to go out of their way to keep him. Who knows what will happen now, but I fear that he is another Scott Hall or Jake Roberts case, where you can on…
