In case anyone's planning on purchasing it, I did, and through last night, as well as today, I've come to the conclusion that at least some batches' 2nd disc is poorly produced, with some scratches and stuff. I actually got a fairly good deal on mine $23.99 CDN for 3 discs, but when I tried playing the second disc, the disc stopped about halfway through the Ground Zero match with HBK. I tried exchanging it today, but the only other copy at the store I was at, Future Shop, had a WORSE conditioned disc. Fortunately, Future Shop was nice enough to give me a full refund, inspite of the package being opened and all. Now, this may not be the case for all the releases, but …

?Fighting Fate? Fedor vs. Cro Cop PRIDE: Final Conflict 2005 Sunday, August 28th, 9:00pm EST This Sunday, on Pay Per View, two of the top heavyweight fighters on the planet will go head-to-head in one of the biggest fights in Mixed Martial Arts history. History. It?s funny, I find myself thinking a lot about MMA history and what has led to these two men going into battle. It?s not just their history, but THE history of the sport that has lead to this Sunday. The evolution of the heavyweight title and the men who have competed for it is a tale woven in triumphant victories and tragic defeats, and begins with a fighter by the name of Mark ?The Hammer? Colem…

Back when WWE.com started with title histories, they acknowledged Inoki's switch with Backlund in Japan. The histories were gone for a while, and now they're back with no mention of Backlund ever dropping the strap.

I just noticed that no one had any comments on RAW. I didn't watch it and haven't read any reviews so I have no idea what happened. So, what happened?

Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio I finally got round to watching the full version, or at least the version shown on television and the match doesn?t disappoint at all. Having it in Japan definitely made the match better in some parts because the crowd were really appreciative of the face and heel element that the match had. Whenever Rey played to the crowd they cheered and whenever Angle played to the crowd or cheated they boo?ed. This is missing in the WWE and in the United States in general. Too many spots in the US don?t reach full potential due to the crowd not really caring, and too many heels are cheered for my liking. Hunter, Angle and Eddy are names that immediatel…

WWE seems to be trying to package them like Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch, with a Deliverance twist. We all know Cade, who's Murdoch? Anyone want to wager what direction they'll go with this?

I'd wager I'm probably in the minority on most of these: I don't mind the LOD 2005 angle. They just didn't throw Heidenreich in there as the new Hawk and expect people to buy it. They showed him reluctant to take on any of the LOD gimmick until Animal assured him it was okay. I thought it was uncharacterisically classy on WWE's part to acknowledge no one will replace Hawk and made it so it was Animal giving his blessing as the surviving member to have Heidenreich don the LOD gear. I dig the Undertaker-Orton feud. Orton's that cocky bastard you just want to see get his ass kicked, and Taker's still capable of putting on a respectable performance. Ever since his …

According to WWE.com, it's coming back as a weekly feature this Friday. I miss reading the cryptic double talk and unique JR catchphrases. Let's hope this causes some big backstage headaches like it did before!

Ted DiBiase vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan (No DQ for the North American Heavyweight Championship, 1985) Play By Play Immediately, you know you are watching some old-school wrestling. Prior to the match, DiBiase wants to make sure that the match is no DQ and as soon as he gets confirmation, immediately blinds Duggan with the Evil~! powder to the eyes. Then in an instance, he throws Duggan over the top-rope and immediately blasts him into the ringpost? twice Duggan opens up a gusher and the crowd is going batshit the entire way. DiBiase not only starts to heel it up, but also shows some strategy by attacking the cut. He unloads the punches to the head, rams the blood…

I've been noticing that on newer WWE DVD releases, they're not only blurring the WWF scratch logo (which everyone knows is a no-no now) but in footage of 80s stuff where they identify the champion with "World Wrestling Federation (Whatever) Champion", the World Wrestling Federation part is blurred. They're even blanking out the "F" when someone says "WWF" as well. I thought Vince was allowed to use WWF for all the pre-scratch logo stuff. Did the panda people bust his balls again?

Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels Batista? Vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield; World Championship John Cena? Vs. Chris Jericho; WWE Championship Orlando Jordon? Vs. Chris Benoit; US Championship Edge w/ Lita Vs. Matt Hardy Kurt Angle Vs. Eugene w/ Christy Hemme The Undertaker Vs. Randy Orton Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio; Ladder Match Also, people have speculated that we could get anyone from Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar, Trish Stratus and Triple H showing up tonight. We also might get something to do with LOD2k5 and MNM. EDIT: I don't know how I forget about that other Summerslam thread. I even posted in it. Anyway, you can either delete this topic, or we…

I haven't watched the Road Warriors DVD yet, but in the promos they always show clips from the "drunk Hawk" angle when they mention Hawk's real problems. Is WWE trying to suggest that angle was a shoot now? Why doesn't Vince realize that calling guys up that everyone says aren't ready is the most counterproductive thing you can do? What do you think the over/under is on Heyman getting himself thrown out of OVW? I can't see him not blowing up the first time a pet project of his gets called up to WWE and ruined. If Brock goes to SD when he signs, you think JBL will stiff him because he's been disrespectful of wrestling? The Boogeyman. Honestly, what the…

I was reading Loss's list of 100 matches and he mentioned the 6-5-89 Footloose vs. Can-Ams match and how great it was. Well, for what may be one of the top 3 best tag matches of the 80s, it wasn't even the best match on the card. That honor would go to the Jumbo-Tenryu match. So, in your opinion, what cards can you think of that had 2 legitimate super MOTYs on it. Personally, I don't know of any combo that surpasses the 6-5-89 duo. Other shows that may be mentioned include... 5-22-84 Ric Flair vs. Harley Race Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Kerry Von Erich WM X Owen vs. Bret HBK vs. Razor Ramon ladder match Honestly, I don't think either of these would fit …

Currently were looking at an 8 match card... and most likely some TNA surrounding the Diva Search contest. 1. Icon Vs Legend Shawn Michaels Vs Hulk Hogan 2. WWE Championship John Cena ? Vs Chris Jericho 3. World Heavyweight Title No DQ Match Batista ? Vs JBL 4. Singles Match Edge Vs Matt Hardy 5. WrestleMania Rematch Randy Orton Vs The Undertaker 6. Singles Match Kurt Angle vs. Eugene - Although not explicitly stated, I believe this match will be for Angle's Olympic gold medal So that'd leave us with 2 actual matches, most likely Eddie/Rey V (or is it VI? I honestly lost track) and perhaps a Tag Titles Match from RAW, but h…

Who do you guys think will be the biggest star in wrestling lets say 5 years from now that is active on either the WWE or TNA roster? Despite being stuck with the gimmick of doom I still see a huge amount of potential in Rob Conway. Assuming this gimmick doesn't completely kill the guy then I can see him making major strides over the next couple of years. Carlito is going to be a major player in the not to distant future. As long as WWE manage to hold off on pushing him into the main event and turning him face he could very well go on to have a Piper like impact. Shelton Benjamin is the next Chris Benoit, for lack of a better analogy. He's going to be the…

From the Baltimore Sun. You have to register to view it. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-sp....ack=1&cset=true Show business has hold on Angle Career: The former Olympian has his heart into knuckling down on the mat and stage. With a gold medal draped around his neck, Kurt Angle couldn't hold back the tears as he stood proudly on the podium, his right hand across his heart, as "The Star-Spangled Banner" played. It was the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, and Angle had just won the 220-pound freestyle wrestling competition. The fact that he even qualified for the Olympics was amazing, because he did it with a broken neck, whi…

Apparently you can't get "Captain Charisma" shirts at WWE live events or from ShopZone, and he's pretty disgruntled that a projected main event push got scuttled. Since he's been on SmackDown, he's been squished by Batista twice and punked by the Mexicools last night. I wonder whose Wheaties he peed in.

Credit to RD of Green Destiny Excellent news for NOAH fans, as Shiga has always been one of the highlights of NOAH's mid card. Hopefully he's recovered enough to work like he used to be able to, because he was finally climbing the ranks before he went down.

So Lord Of The Curry calls me up 'round 4pm Tuesday and suggests going to the Smackdown show in Toronto. I sez cool and we're off. Leave Mississauga at 5 and get to TO at about 6ish and pick up our tickets. We've never really done any spontaneous ticket buying - we usually just order through ticketmaster months before - so after some confusion (we were buying at seperate ticket windows) we get our tickets. 117 level, row 5, obstructed view. Now, no one has ever told me the greatness that is obstructed view. For one, our tickets were relatively cheap @ $40, and they managed -by far- to get us closest to the ring (our previous WWE endevours put us in the nosebleed…

Use this thread to nominate matches you've seen that you think are good that would fit in this category. We'll keep this and all other topics open for the remainder of the year so you can add matches anytime you come across something you see that you like.

I was wondering, considering their timeslot, what would it take for TNA to be considered a success? A 2.0 rating? A certain level of PPV buys? What's the magic numbers that would allow you to say that they've "made it"?

Edge vs. Shawn Michaels, 30/01/05 This would be a match that would fall under my ?match of two halves? column. The first half is pretty dull if I were to be honest. It has both its strong points and its weak points that make for it to be pretty standard, where as the last seven or so minutes are quite strong. The first half?s weakness stems from communication problems as well as Edge not being able to feel the crowd. There was a spot on the outside to set up Edge doing his sit-down reverse DDT manoeuvre, but the set up was poor which resulted in the spot looking tacky, which also lead the spot looking extremely fake. Edge was also not wise in his selection of move…
