Just watched Dr Wagner Jr & Mistico v Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero from CMLL 03/12/05. Liked the match a lot and it probably deserves a place on the list I'm doing, but I'm having trouble understanding and getting used to lucha in a major way, so I don't really know where I'd put it. The way they build to technicos comebacks and work toward finishes is totally different from what I'm used to in American and Japanese wrestling, because there aren't really any hope spots in what I've seen so far and the crowd can't be heard for the damn horn. Also, what's the point in doing 2/3 falls when the first two falls end so quickly? And the horn in the crowd is annoying th…

Interesting.... WWE must be puzzled someone told them to cram it when asked to completely change his look and style after they were impressed enough to sign him. Hopefully he'll be back in TNA so he can help kick off the Spike TV show.

Please provide dates whenever you have them. Here are some links if you're unsure of the dates of matches that may help you. http://www.prowrestlinghistory.com -- Results of every supercard ever, and then some. Please, if you list a match from a PPV or ECW show, check here for the real date instead of just naming the show. http://www.thehistoryofwwe.com -- Go here for any WW/W/F/E stuff and if you know the year, you can select 'Edit' on your browser then select 'Find', and search for the wrestler, arena, etc and it should come up. http://www.deathvalleydriver.com -- For 90s matches, go to Best Matches of the 90s and see if the date is there if you are unsure o…

I'm surprised there's not already a thread on this. For those who didn't see it, Raw was in Montreal this week, and of course the WWE has to bring up the 8 year old(!) 1997 Survivor Series. Shawn went into a huge spiel about screwing Bret and how he'd do it again. Cue Bret's music & titantron. As the hugely pro-Bret crowd collectively creams their pants, the music runs longer and longer and... oh that dastardly Shawn was only joking! What won't he do next? The crowd booes and is pissed off as the realisation sets in that Bret isn't showing up. But matbe, just maybe, he'll show up at the end of the night. He doesn't. Instead, Shawn slaps Hogan i…

Pretty cool thing to do on TNA's part. It's kind of a sad comment on the business when a company does something good and it's almost shocking.

From PWInsider: This! Rocks! You know they're acquiring so much footage that I don't know that they'll ever be able to properly use it all to its full potential. I mean, they're putting together - what - 5-6 DVD sets a year? They should be doing more like 20-25 and releasing complete seasons of RAW, WCW Saturday Night, etc. on the cheap too. Oversaturate the hell out of the wrestling market.

I saw an article at Inside Pulse a while back :"AWA strips World Champion" with the subtitle "AWA has a World Champion?!" apparantly they were just as surprised as everybody else that the American Wrestling Association is up and running. The champion at the time was Evan Karagias, and the current champ is "King of Old School" Steve Corino. Today I see a fucking press release by the AWA that theyve signed Mark Jindrak...and apparanlty this is so huge they need a press release! Not only that but the groups womens champion is Sensational Sherri?!....and their bio page eludes that theyve got Kidman, Shannon Moore, Molly Holly and others working for them... Th…

A little change of pace, but with the UFC show this weekend and what will hopefully be a killer fight between Pierre and Trigg, I wanted to review these two matches from UFC 52 (and also because I'm converting my tape). These were two of the best bouts of the evening but for two different reasons; I'll try to convey as best I can what is going on and the excitement as well as explaining stuff. Hopefully people enjoy. UFC 52 came in the wake of the Ultimate Fighter, featuring the main event of Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture in re-match of the UFC 43 fight, which was over the Interim Light-Heavyweight Title of the time. It also featured a re-match of Frank Trigg agains…

    (1) Stampede will be considered part of the US for the sole purposes of this project. (2) If a WWF match takes place in England, it would still be considered a US match. (3) Any lucha will be included with Mexico. If anyone has any really catchy names for each category, share 'em and I'll change the titles.

From Best of the WWF Vol 4- Roddy Piper v Paul Orndorff (07/13/85) - At this point a top 5 80s WWF pick for me. There's some silly stuff with Piper's Hoganesque leg shake selling, and I find it sort of anti-climatic when Piper slaps Orndorff in the face and he does nothing, but this match is still more hate-filled and heated than Savage/Steamboat at Wrestlemania III. Some really fun spots with Piper getting a lot of mileage out of even small moves like side headlocks. He also cheats really well. Orndorff is the better *wrestler* of the two, but Piper is better at working the crowd and portraying his character to the audience. Fun match! From Best of the WWF Vol 13-…

Let's see how well this gets over. Post a rumor that you've heard about wrestling, whether it be previously scheduled main events, guys refusing to job, whatever, and we'll find out if it's fact or fiction in this thread. I'll start: At Survivor Series '02, HHH was supposed to injure Shawn Michaels in storyline, and Edge would jump to RAW, take his place in the EC and win the title.

The following will be spoilers if you don't want to know the results of tonight's RoH show. James Gibson won the RoH Title. So they've done exactly what they did with Punk and after booking the title well they're now passing the belt around like a $2 hooker. I'm getting sick of the RoH grown talent getting completely shafted in favor of WWF guys. Matt Hardy also beat Homicide which further pissed me off.

Interesting tidbit on the OVW tapings, where Johnny Jeter turned heel on his partner Matt Capotelli (who has a legit broken leg). Heyman usually isn't a worked shoot kind of guy, so I'm thinking this might have been a chairshot gone wrong. Either way, I hope one of our collectors can track this down when it becomes available.

Next week. 8/15. Raw. In Montreal. Let the Speculation Begin. It happens every time WWE heads north, but now it actually has a chance in hell of happening. Personally I hope it happens. I've never been a huge Bret fan, and as I discussed in the WOL thread, I don't think he was completely without blame for what happened. Having said that, if WWE never ever does anything right again they need to have him make an appearance next week. The reaction he would get would quite possibly be the biggest pop in wrestling history. It would make the reactions that made Flair and Hogan tear up when they returned look like X-Pac heat by comparison. Bret…

Here in Western PA we have the International Wrestling Cartel (that's right, the IWC). We get a lot of TNA guys and a lot of the local boys are surprisingly good for the usual "indy lifers" you normally see in small feds. They have a weekly TV show on a small power independant station, and they have a Super Indy tournament that features some really good matchups. They have a website where you can see results and order DVDs. I'm thinking of grabbing a few when I get done being goodhelmet's DVD whore.

Yeah, so what's next for Mysterio after the Eddie feud? Where would you go with him and where do you think the WWE will go with him? Personally I'd build him up for a Wrestlemania heavyweight title win next year at Mania. Against Benoit of course though Lesnar could work as well. First off, we've got to think of the kids. Mysterio's got a fan base with the youngset who really like to see his cool moveset and I guess relate to someone small beating the big monstors of the WWF. Of course Mysterio's popular with every sort of fanbase as and really I don't think the WWE has a better option as a potential face champion. The ultimate cinderella story has to be d…

The other day, I was thinking about the demise of WCW and how the promotion would have been had the Bischoff deal gone through. I was wondering what you all thought the future might have held for WCW in 2001. Keep in mind Bischoff would have had to have been a lot smarter with money since Fusient didn't have the unlimited resources Turner/Time Warner had. I think the promotion's roster would have been very interesting since they probably would have had the "brand names" (as Bischoff liked to call them) on top, such as Hogan, Nash, Sting, Goldberg, but also Bob Sapp (who they signed but never wrestled on TV), Sam Greco (an Australian kickboxer), possibly Sabu and RVD (w…
