Rey Misterio Jr v Jamie Noble - WWE Velocity 05/01/04 Finding this match in itself is very WCW-ish in nature, as that was a company of countless hidden gems, and this plays exactly like it would be one of those gems. This is the best I've seen from Noble in WWE, and it's a sign of what he could have accomplished in his first run if his matches were given more time to develop. He's great here; both are, actually. The match starts off with some really spirited matwork with neither guy able to gain an advantage and they do a terrific job of breaking up the matwork with some awesome highspots to maintain the heat. They do such a good job in that area that my favorite mome…

Not sure which wrestling folder this should go in, so you guys can move it if you so choose. Since SS isn't to far off, I figured I'd do one of these and see what you guys thought. Here were the "rules" I used for myself 1. Wrestlers can only be used once. 2. Titles can only be used once. 3. The WWE, I-C, and Tag titles were my only "have to use" titles, but once I brought another one in, it fell under rule #2. 4. If a title was being defended, I couldn't use another match in which said title wasn't being defended. For example, I used Steiners/Bodies from 93 for my tag title match, so I couldn't use Harts/Busters from 89. I think that's it. Here's the ca…

For those who aren't, a couple of quick notes... --- He felt everything was done respectfully while he was on Conn. --- He felt the DVD was the right thing to do for the fans so they could get the best story. Plus, he didn't want it diminished with another Confidential-like piece. --- After his stroke, he felt like it wasnt necessary to carry around this "bag of rocks" being Montreal or Owen's death. People know it happened and they know the truth.

Chris Jericho is expected to be gone from the WWE within 6 weeks, with SummerSlam being his last show. Jericho has a multitude of gigs booked for his band, Fozzy, including a ten-day tour of the UK in October. -- Wrestling Observer Newsletter (blatantly copy & pasted from TSM) This seems like big news to me. Jericho is still a HUGE name in this business. If he's going to go fulltime with Fozzy, obviously TNA isn't in his cards. Not to mention, after he was done touring or whatever, I'm sure he'd choose to go back to WWE before TNA. Still, "what if?"

Undertaker v John Bradshaw Layfield - WWE Smackdown 06/16/05 This match deserves all the credit in the world for truly portraying JBL as the Undertaker's equal. A constant advantage Taker being so protected in the booking will always have is that when someone kicks out of one of his big moves or goes toe-to-toe with him, it'll do wonders to get them over as a threat. In that sense, this match was a huge success, even if I don't like how they got the point across at times. There seemed to a miscue on what the story was the match was trying to tell when they spilled outside, as Taker went knee first into the steps, but sold his stomach while the announcers pretended he …

Rey Misterio Jr v John Bradshaw Layfield - WWE Smackdown 04/07/05 No way in Hell was I expecting this match to be anywhere near this good. This is a really fun big man, little man encounter, and JBL is great in this, as it's his first match after losing the title and he's incredibly grumpy, which shows both in his facial expressions and aggressive style. I think what I like most about this is that they eliminate a lot of the typical clowning spots JBL does to get over the storyline of him being pissed, but they still find a way to work them in credibly. Wrestling -- presentation, NOT content! Bradshaw looks like he hasn't slept since Wrestlemania and bumps and sells h…

Three stories have surface lately that have been both hilarious and pathetic. Story #1 ... One of the Diva Search contestants wanted to do a promo mentioning Katie Vick, but none of the writers knew who Katie Vick was. Story #2 ... One of the Diva Search contestants asked one of the writers if they had any ideas for something they could do to get heat. The response? "What does 'get heat' mean?" Story #3 ... A new writer was just hired that asked JBL how he got that fake blood to continue pouring out of his forehead. These are the people constructing the storylines for the highest rated show on cable and the biggest wrestling company in the world.…

According to PWInsider, there's a Best of Starrcade double disc set coming out the first week of December. Woohoo. Anyway, assuming you have about five hours to work with, what matches would you include on the set? Hopefully they'll shy away from putting Flair/Race on a *third* WWE DVD release, but we'll see, and I could understand how it could have a place on this set.

WWE writers get a lot of criticism, rightfully so. However, something that a lot of people tend to overlook is the fact that writers are responsible for finding something interesting to do with thirty or so guys on the roster at the same time, and some talent must very difficult to put into the proper direction while focusing on main event storylines, building towards pay-per-views and other things. So, the question is, if you were a writer for WWE television, what would you do with the following wrestlers: Raw: Danny Basham Rene Dupree Tajiri Tyson Tomko Smackdown: Hardcore Holly The FBI Sylvain Grenier Orlando Jordan Answers must be realis…

Triple H vs. Randy Orton, 30/1/05 The video package before the match was shit. The WWE production team are usually on point and have produced some packages that are outstanding, but they missed the boat here on this one. They should?ve reminded the audience of how Evolution was made and how Orton?s sudden up rise caused his leader to get jealous and kick him out of the most powerful group on RAW. Instead they just hyped the stuff that had happened in the Elimination Chamber a few weeks prior, which was a real disappointment. The match has Triple H?s influence written all over it. The beginning has him bumping hard for Orton, but Hunter did well to put the RKO over as…

I don't know if I buy Russo's conversion to born-againism yet (he is the King of the Swerve after all), but wrestling and Christianity are two things that you'd think should never ever mix. People don't want to be preached to at a wrestling show, nor do they want wrestling in their church sermon.

I was just wondering how good people thought the whole show was. It has the famous Bret vs. Austin match as well as having Michaels vs. Sid. The rest of te card is underneath: Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart, Marty Jannetty & Leif Cassidy vs. Doug Furnas, Phil LaFon, Henry O. Godwinn & Phinneas I. Godwinn Mankind vs. Undertaker Crush, Goldust, Jerry Lawler and Triple H vs. Rock, Barry Windham, Marc Mero & Jake Roberts Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin Faarooq, Vader, Diesel & Razor Ramon vs. Savio Vega, Yokozuna, Flash Funk & Jimmy Snuka Shawn Michaels vs. Sid Vicious The opener interests me somewhat.
