Loss and I talked about a tag team tournament to see who is the best tag team. Regardless of who is listed, I do think we should wait until Loss comes back from vacation to start the tournament. I have a few questions I want to throw out.... Who should be in the tournament? Should we limit the promotions the tag-teams wrestled in? Should we be all-inclusive and allow foreign tag teams (ie Kawada & Taue, Kojima & Tenzan) as well? Should we have a certain cut-off date so we don't nclude tag teams most of us have probably never seen? If you have any other suggestions, ideas, or comments, feel free to post them.

So I see a lot of "Kurt Angle is one of the all time greats" you know the usually crap people say. I've usually just chalked this up inexperienced fans who don't know any better. Meltzer and his HOF voters have already made him a WON HOFer. The faults with Angle that I see are the following: 1. He's only wrestled in the WWF style. I've come to refer to the WWF style as "wrestling for dummies" because it's meant to cover up bad workers. The current great workers on the roster like Guerrero could go to any fed and immediately hold their own in different styles. Angle hasn't been given this chance but he's only good at one style. 2. Mic skills aren't that g…

Tennesse Studs vs Robbie Stewart/Davey Boy Smith Stampede 1982? The Studs go by the names Ken Wayne and Danny Davis. Small wrestlers who like alike which makes it hard to tell them apart especially on old tape footage. Stewart's a good hand in the ring from what I've seen and everybody already knows about Davey. The match comes in at the 10 minute mark where we have the Studs in the process of beating up the energetic Davey Boy Smith. This part of the match is okay but the better part comes once he tags in Stewart. Stewart hits a real nice version of the "Tenyru" elbow off of the top which had its own distinct look. Everything from there on out is pretty good…

Anyone else notice they cut the live crowd out of the HHH interview when they started chanting "boring"?

Recently, I picked up a series of Coliseum Video tapes due to certain matches that are included. One of those tapes, to my chagrin, was Hulkamania 6 because it has the infamous Hulk vs. Stan Hansen matches from Japan. One of the other matches on there was a Hogan vs. Savage match from the French tour in 1989. At one point in the match, Savage attempts to leave the arena but is stopped by a WWE official. At that point, Gorilla and Lord Alfred Hayes decided to have a little fun. Gorilla pointed out that the WWF official standing behind Savage was Terry Garvin, which Alfred confirmed by saying "Yes, that's Terry Garvin... he's always on back o…

Dick Murdoch vs. The Nightmare (Mid-South, 7-14-85) I?ll be honest with you. When I bought the Mid-South/UWF collection, I really didn?t pay attention to this match. I was more concerned with Ted DiBiase, the Fantastics and Midnight Express. However, if there was one hidden gem in the set that completely caught me by surprise, here it is. The Duggan-DiBiase matches were entertaining as hell but I expected something special from Ted DiBiase. I had never heard of The Nightmare and I only have a few, non-descript memories of Dick Murdoch. The match begins with Nightmare establishing his EVIL~! ways. He chokes Dick on the ropes and sneaks in a few hidden punches, ou…

Terry Funk v. Jumbo Tsuruta (6-11-76) This match has often been considered the greatest match of the 1970s. For those who don?t know, Jumbo was trained by the Funk Bros. and this is a teacher vs. student matchup. It has received universal praise on the net so I am not trying to make an argument on whether the praise is deserved. Instead, I hope to examine the match closely and understand all of the little things that make it so great. First Fall The first fall is the longest and most interesting fall but not in the way you would expect. The atomic drop is the highest impact move executed, yet these two work together so skillfully you don?t really mind. To start…

Harry Smith was supposed to get a tryout at the RAW tapings, and Teddy Hart had a match on the Velocity tapings today. I wonder if WWE is serious about the new generation of Harts, or if this is just more Vince kissing Bret's ass. Especially considering how badly Teddy's last tryout with the E ended. If they are serious, they should look at Nattie Neidhart to help boost the women's division. I'd love to see someone taught by Stu stretching out the diva sluts.

Magnum TA vs. Ted DiBiase (No DQ) Once again, we get to witness the genius of Ted DiBiase. Although he isn?t featured as prominently as I would like him to be, Ted DiBiase?s inclusion on the Mid-South compilation improves its worth tenfold. On the other hand, Magnum TA is usually criticized as being a low-average worker but he holds up his end surprisingly well in this series with DiBiase. This match is apparently No DQ. I wouldn?t know that except Jim Ross begins his commentary midway through the match and informs the listeners. Both wrestlers retreat to their corners after the ref gives his instructions, but Ted DiBiase sneaks up on an unsuspecting Magnum.…

Wargames (Great American Bash 7-4-87) This is probably the most popular gimmick match of all-time and with good reason. The Wargames matches are usually revered as the best that WCW could offer. Wargames 1991 and 1992 get hailed as the best but I wanted to observe the original and possibly revisit the followers at a later time. In this match, it is the battle of the Four Horsemen (Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair, Lex Luger & JJ Dillon) vs. The Legion of Doom and the Superpowers (Dusty Rhodes, Nikita Koloff, Hawk, Animal & Paul Ellering. The biggest flaw I found in the match right off the beginning deals with the participants. Once you realize the …

This is a debate on another message board and I wanted to know what the real answer was. What was the WWF's reason for taking the title off of him in 90? I had always heard it was because his drug use was getting out of control and they were increasingly worried about him killing himself.

I was watching his match this week on Raw, and over the last couple of years and he's just not "Great" anymore. His offense/moveset is stagnant, his psychology isn't there any more (Not enough working on specific areas, not continuing to work on the weak points of opponents), he wrestles the same style match with basically everyone, and just doesn't seem motivated much. He's still probably still one of the best workers on Raw, but he's not far and away the best talent in the business like he used to be. Your thoughts?

Tomorrow, on Raw, Edge is supposed to get a title match against Batista since Edge won the "Gold Rush" tournament. Last week we saw Lita turn on Kane and cost Kane the tournament. It could be argued that her turn even overshadowed Edge's win. We saw that Triple H wasn't on Raw since he left two weeks ago. We saw Batista help out Ric Flair. So, what's going to happen? I'm sure we've all read the rumors about Triple/Batista III at the next Raw PPV. We also know that the draft is coming up in a couple of weeks. So, could we see a title switch on Raw? I'm thinking that Edge might get himself DQ'ed against Batista by beating the slop out of him with a weapon. A …

Two categories: What ______ has What is available on tape but we don't have yet -------------------------------------------------------------- Tim Cooke MX vs. Fantastics (2/28/88 - NWA) * There are three versions of this. The first is the very JIP version that aired on 3/19 on WTBS. The second is the more complete version which aired on Pro on 3/12 and showed almost 25 minutes. The third is from the Wrestling Network in Florida which showed footage not shown in the NWA versions but only showed a total of 22 minutes. The best is the Pro version but the only person with a decent copy is Tabe and even his dubs of the match are rough. i have a…

Rock & Roll Express & Jose Lothario v Chavo & Hector Guerrero & Buddy Landell - Mid South 1984 (Mexican Death Match) Man, the Guerreros are awesome! I wish Chavo and Hector had had a run in the NWA, because they'd probably be remembered as being close to the same level as the Midnight Express and far ahead of the Rock & Roll Express. They're the ones doing the majority of the work that resonates here -- check out the competition the Guerreros and Landell get into trying to see who can sell Jose's weak punches the best, and so many of the stooging tactics (i.e. getting shown up and retreating to the arms of your tag team partner) are things Eddy too…

So ... Bret Hart won. I was trying to compile more detailed results, but I keep going braindead when I try, I guess because it's too freakin' early in the morning. I'll come back to it later.

PWI: The initial buyrate for the Backlash PPV has come in at between 250,000 to 275,000 buys. That is down from the about 295,000 that the show did last year. I guess Hogan's return didn't make that much of a difference.

Finally got to see this last night. I have always been disappointed with the 2/12/86 WTBS Special that had the MX/RNR title switch. Cornette has said this was the best of the COndrey/Eaton matches against the RnR so I had high hopes. To start, they cram a lot into 10 minutes. I didn't see a clip and they didn't go to commercial during the match, so I believe it is complete. Japanese TV muffles the crowd a little with their announcers but it isn't too bad. Brawl to start, followed by Gibson doing a segment with Condrey, which ends with Gibson running over to the ropes that are holding Cornette in the cage above the ring and shaking it. Crowd pops big. Mor…

Owen Hart died. Amazing to think it's already been this long. I can still vividly remember so much from that night.

Dave Meltzer seems to think we're about one step away from the second version of the Monday Night Wars, according to the latest Observer. TNA is expected to sign with WGN in the next few weeks and go head-to-head with RAW on Monday nights from 8PM-10PM. There is major infighting right now in the company between Panda Energy and the Jarretts that could possibly end with the Jarretts being let go, and they're looking to bring in Samoa Joe, CM Punk, American Dragon and Ultimo Dragon. Danielson is not a lock yet because he's reevaluating his career at this point. Those are definitely positive changes in the right direction, but I think they need to do something to attem…
