Stan Hansen v Dusty Rhodes - NJPW 05/16/80 As short brawls go, this ain't half bad. There's not to much else to say about this one, other than point out Hansen's really nice elbows to Dusty's face, thus taking him out of the running for "Son Of A Plumber" night at Hooters. Dusty goes for Hansen's arm, and they start throwing chairs and tables around, and the match quickly spills outside and ends. This makes me wonder if there's another untelevised match from the same tour featuring these two, because this plays more like an introduction than a resolution. 5:41

Stan Hansen v Antonio Inoki - NJPW 02/08/80 While this is a good match, I think my favorite thing about it has to be Antonio Inoki's entrance music. It's no different than what he used at late as 1996, which is the most recent match I've seen from him, which makes it all the more entertaining, because it's 70s cop music at its absolute worst (read: best). Anyway, now I'll talk about the match. While Hansen has had far better matches in his career, this match is possibly evidence that he can do anything, as we see a nice mixture of wrestling, brawling and carrying here, and this is all before he hit what would be his peak. The ongoing story here is that Hansen tries to…

I've seen this idea batted around, but considering the interest in the classic matches threads I think it would be a good idea. We should set up an FTP server where people can upload classic matches, shoot interviews, or whatever. Web based places like YouSendIt either aren't reliable or they have limitations on filesize or downloads that just serves to annoy everyone. If you're late to the party, you miss out. I'm sure we could work out some method of setting this up, maybe even have everyone who'd benefit chip in a coupla bucks. Passwords could be put in place to discourage leechers and save the bandwidth for the folks who contribute. What do you guys t…

Once we get to the final eight wrestlers in the tournament (four from the first bracket, four from the second bracket), they will all square off with each other in round robin matches. From there, we'll determine seeding. If there's a tie (say, Bret Hart and Steve Austin are both 6-1, as an example), whoever won the individual match they had will get top seeding. The guy who has the best results wins the whole tournament. The reason for not having the winner of bracket #1 face the winner of bracket #2 is that it penalizes guys like Bret Hart, Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan who don't lose until they make it to the finals of the original bracket, when maybe those guys deserve a…

With all the releases lately, requested or otherwise, how do you think that plus the upcoming draft will change things on WWE TV? A lot of the openings now are background/role player types that can let a guy fresh from OVW work the green off without being expected to carry a big storyline. It really isn't fair now how they pull guys from OVW, give them a completely new (and usually lame) gimmick and expect them to be over right out of the box. In fact, it's what they did with the Rock, after Third Generation Blue Chipper Rocky went over like a lead balloon he was put in a stable that allowed him to gradually work on his skills until he ended up overshadowing t…

I'll do this one tomorrow. After that, I've got nothing concrete lined up to review. I'll do the Undertaker v Yokozuna casket match from the '94 Rumble if I find my tape or the match gets YouSended, but apart from that, the floor is open to requests.
