He doesn't say anything overly original but I found it interesting. Everything he says should be common sense for the WWE but it's not at all.

I know Vince wanted to job out everyone his dad pushed as soon as he got control of the WWF, but I'm watching a 1984 houseshow and seeing Rocky Johnson jobbing to Nicolai Volkoff. It was like one step above a jobber match, and this is a guy who was half of the WWF tag team champions barely a year earlier. What shocked me is how quickly his skills seemed to go downhill. Not that he was ever a great worker, but he got shockingly bad real fast. I guess it's a chicken and egg thing: did he get depushed because he got terrible in the ring, or did he stop giving a shit in the ring because of his rapid depush?

Despite all the crying from ECW "fans" (most of whom probably never watched the original ECW) who want to dub this a failure, ECW is by far the best wrestling show on TV. Now granted, Smackdown is a bit decimated due to injuries and bad livers, but ECW is about a millon billion times better than both of the two main brands right now. Even the bad (Al Snow seemingly sandbagging Kevin Thorn and Angle hilariously avoiding contact on the Van Daminator) was better than watching the McMahon Family Theater Show that's taking over monday nights.

Apparently F4W is suggesting Hogan's knee injury might have been a work to get him off RAW the week they were scheduled to do drug testing. The fact he was doing media appearances like Regis and seemed to be walking fine on what was suppoed to be a torn up knee helped fuel Vince's bad mood last week.

From Meltz: Looks like some of the opening pyro sparked something (a speaker, some suggested) and off it went. TNA fans, of course, responded with a "THE ROOF IS ON FIRE" chant.....

I finally was able to watch this, and.........wow. I mean, everyone knows the stories about the Von Erichs and assorted other deaths that lead to the downfall of the company, but to hear it from the people involved was something else. Things that stood out for me: After hearing Kevin talk about his grandfather, it starts to make a whole lot more sense why Fritz was the way he was. Gary Hart may be the coolest person in wrestling history not named Rick Rude. He was pretty much the only one still not sucking up to Fritz after all these years. He could barely hide the disgust when telling the story of the booking meeting where he realized that A. M…

Thursday, June 8, 2006 Ex-LSU, WWF wrestler 'Earthquake' dies at 42 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press BATON ROUGE, La. -- Former LSU wrestler John Tenta, known professionally as "Earthquake" while competing in the World Wrestling Federation, has died at the age of 42, the school said Thursday. Tenta, who lettered for the Tigers in the early 1980s when wrestling was a nationally renowned varsity sport at LSU, died after a lengthy battle with bladder cancer. "Big John," as he was known at LSU, also participated in football for the Tigers. Born in Surrey, British Columbia, he weig…

There's a thread about it at TSM...they were just speculating on what the ME should be, but it eventually turned into "could they actually put together a program that could sell out Ford Field?" I felt that there's no way they're filling that place up, unless they manage to finally put together Austin/Hogan. With what they have now, they'd be lucky to fill an arena half that size. A lot of them seem to disagree, and seem to think that just sticking Austin/Rock/Brock in there with Cena would do it. Of course, you could throw any asshole in the title match and there's the group of people who would still attend just on the basis of it being WrestleMania. What do…

I've been going through the '89 season of WWF Superstars lately, and Genius's poems are amazing and I love that gimmick so much that I've decided to transcribe all of his poems I can find in this thread for your viewing pleasure. Behold! The world's smartest man So masculine and proud The epitome of genius Amazingly endowed A one-man wrestling renaissance Just let your heart rejoice And bathe in all the luxury Of my poetic voice The best of my competitors Are so inferior I far outthink their greatest thoughts With my posterior And when the bell has sounded On my stunning victory I'll view that messy spot where My opponent used to be The ar…

I picked up the entire 1989 run of the NWA shows on TBS a little while back and I'm loving this stuff. How is it that two hours of squashes and promos from the big stars is a more entertaining and focused presentation than two hours of matches featuring big names opposite each other in 2006? Some random thoughts: * Steamboat winning the belt at Chi-Town Rumble was one of the best moments in wrestling history. The atmosphere for that entire show is just off the charts anyway, but the fuck you to the previous regime where they teased the Dusty finish but didn't deliver it was just awesome. * You just don't get interviews of this quality anymore - from anyone…

Because I am bored, here's a "Gordy List" I did on Misterio three years ago. 1. Was he ever regarded as the best draw in the world? Was he ever regarded as the best draw in his country or his promotion? No. Some might say he was the biggest drawing factor of the succesful WCW cruiser division, but that still would put him well behind Hogan, Flair, Piper, and others during that run for the company. He was a big part of the succesful Tijuana garbage run, but most accounts tend to credit that more to the product than the wrestlers involved. His ECW run would also fit the Tijuana standard. He may have helped pop attendance on a couple of WAR…

Apparently the plan for SmackDown is to have Chavo feud with Rey over him using Eddie as an inspiration for his World Title run. Fine, I can live with that. It's kinda tacky, but by carny standards it's defendable at least. Now I hear the further plans are to not only have Vicki involved but to have her turn heel and side with Chavo as well. Someone tell me how this isn't crossing some sort of line, even by the usually low SPORTZ ENTERTAINMENT standards. The usual arguments of "you can't judge cause they're family and knew Eddie better than we do" don't fly considering this is fast approaching Fritz Von Erich levels of turning a family tragedy into fun and pro…

  16. Seeing Elijah Burke from OVW getting the callup to be Sylvester Terkay's manager on SmackDown made me realize that WWE now has 3 male managers (along with Davari and Estrada) for the first time in a long while. Could it be that word finally broke through the McMahon Wall of Secrecy that putting new guys with managers who can talk is a good way to get people over?

Stop doing rematches just a week later. Smackdown tonight featured 3 matches that were on the Great American Bash card. Booker/Misterio was also on Smackdown last week for a grand total of 3 matches in 7 days. Gee and they wonder why buyrates are in the tank and the UFC does so well. Why is someone going to drop $40 on something when the results will either be undone or you can see the rematch within a week. The UFC is drawing good buyrates right now because they offer unique matches and you can only see the high profile fighters live on PPV. If you don't buy that PPV then you have to either wait for the DVD or wait until the rerun makes it's way onto tv 6 m…

With all of the suspensions and such who would you sign to fill the gaps in the roster? The only rules to this are: 1. They have to pass a drug test to get a spot on the roster so keep that in mind. 2. They can't be under contract to another company. 3. Call ups are allowed. 4. They have to have some kind of mainstream name. No indy darlings here. You need guys that will have instant credibility and can be plugged right into the mid-card.

So I got the newest WON today and it had quite the juicy tidbit: WWE didn't voluntary leave TSN over the NFL deal. Back in January, TSN cancelled Raw over the Edge/Lita sex show dealy. Vince begged and got a reprieve. After the skit w/ HHH and Candace getting oral, TSN cancelled Raw for good.

I still like the Playboy interview where he said that all he can remember from his first sexual encounter was that he wanted to insert crushed leaves in the girl's most private of parts, but I'm sure others have favorite sleazified Vince stories.
