From WO.com: Sources in the cable industry confirmed a few days ago that WWE has finalized its deal with the USA Network for Raw and the rest of WWE's cable package. WWE sources say the deal may be announced tomorrow. Thank God, they never should have left in the first damn place.

I was reading Meltzer's latest post on his site and at the bottom it listed some New England Championship Wrestling shows, one of which is in Somerville which is like a 15 minute drive from my house. I cheacked out their website and the tickets are only $8 but I'd never heard of a single one of the workers. This is a link to their list of wrestlers: http://www.necwwrestling.com/stars.htm Has anybody heard of them and if so are they worth dropping $8 and a Thursday night to see?

Surreal. Vince basically admitted that his injuries have forced him to reevaluate his views of wrestling. Good business doing their own preemptive testing before the government starts hounding them again. I'm curious how this will play out. If Vince really says what he means, this has the potential to change the company landscape.

Why was Ted Hart blackballed and who is Dan Maff and what did he do to Homi's family?

I discussed this briefly with Loss, who thought it was a good idea. Basically, like the Wrestler version, list a bunch of matches that come to mind, leading to thoughts and/or discussion about them. Loss worried that there might not be enough matches that everyone has seen, but the advantage of that is hopefully getting people curious enough to want to see them. Of course, star ratings are optional, Scott Keith-style reviews are forbidden (ha!). I'll start with some well-known ones so we can get the ball rolling relatively easily: * Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho - 3/30/2003 (WrestleMania XIX) * Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart - 8/29/1994 (SummerSlam 94) * Rey Mysteri…

From Puroresu Power: GAEA recently folded as well. The glory days of Joshi are long gone, so this isn't as crushing as it might have been at one time, but it's still sad to see that a company that once boasted the Crush Gals (Chigusa Nagayo was probably the Japanese equivalent to Madonna in the 80s in terms of mainstream star power) and had such a great interpromotional run in the early 90s is now gone for good. It would be nice to see the Observer do a "history of AJW" piece, but Meltzer hasn't really consistently covered AJW in years, anyway.

Many would say so, mostly WCW fans, and some who are WWE fans would say no. So I guess I'm a bit biased, but I dont think dX is a rip off of nWo. Maybe WWE's answer to nWo, but not really following its steps, since dX is more about attitude than having members and beating others up. Hell, I dont think they even beat others up unless necessary, being the usual heels that they are... Want an obvious rip-off? Goldberg to Austin... not entirely, but look at the same looks they have, and pushed Goldberg to the moon just to have the same attention Austin is having... Your thoughts...

I got the Rumble 2005 DVD from Netflix yesterday, and watching the gangraping he got from Benoit, Eddy, and Bob Holly made me realize I haven't heard from Puder for a while. A quick scan of OVW's website doesn't mention him, so what happened with the guy Vince sank $1,000,000 into?

I'm guessing this is going to be right up HTQ's alley, but I was watching some DVDs and it reminded me of a few things that always bugged me: 1. I was watching Bloodbath and saw Backlund vs Patterson from 1979, then on the Hogan disc there was the match where Hogan made his WWF return in 1983. One thing that really stood out is that in 1983 Backlund looked practically anorexic. Was it just an optical illusion since Backlund had shorter hair and switched to wearing a college wrestling style singlet? It definately looks like he had the steroid bloat in 1979, but I can't imagine a guy so goody-two-shoes he freaked out about turning heel shooting up. 2. Speaking of…

I have a pretty large collection of wrestling matches, and I started doing a sub-collection of famous shoots/screwjobs like SS97 and Maeda kicking the shit out of people in Japan. One thing I haven't come across yet is the Spider Lady/Wendi Richter shoot, does anyone know of a place I can download it or even a old WWF tape that has it?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2003560...5132133,00.html This is at least the second interview with him that I've seen in which he does not at all go along with the company line. Somehow, I doubt that Vince wants his workers saying that missing his baby is not as important to them as missing a one shot show based on a company that doesn't exist anymore. I also doubt that Vince likes his workers claiming that they'd rather work somewhere other than WWE, but have no other choice. He's basically saying that WWE cut his nuts off and won't let him talk because they know he'll get more over than certain people who isn't supposed to get more over than. …

Not a big group this time, so we don't go through everyone too soon. Mick Foley Roddy Piper Randy Savage The Midnight Express (Eaton and Condrey and Eaton and Lane) I shall give my two cents later.

Mod's note -- If this topic makes no sense, it's because all the match reviews were pulled out afterward and posted in the match reviews folder that we didn't have at the time, but that we now have. Check it out, it'll make much more sense than this thread. -- Loss 05/02/05 Last match I watched was the Kojima v Tenzan Triple Crown v IWGP Title match from Feb 20th. For me, this was ***** easy, regardless of what some troll said. I seriously do not see anything else this year coming close to beating this out for MOTY.

With everybody buzzing about the Taxi Driver parody trailer, I thought I see if WWE.com had these up and - lo and behold they do. Check 'em out: http://www.wwe.com/shows/wrestlemania21/trailers.jsp The Taxi Driver one was kind of funny - Michael Cole's guest appearance just about made me laugh out loud at work.

--After his performance on Tuesday against Kurt Angle, WWE has signed Marty Jannetty to a contract. It is not 100%, but he is expected to be on the Raw side and interact in some form with Shawn Michaels --Vince McMahon returns to television (backstage, I don't expect him on TV) this week at both the Raw and Smackdown shows, and will be at this point attending all shows from this point forward. I just hope that's for the best. --Be Cool is projected as doing $5.8 million for this weekend and being No. 6 at the box office. It would end with a three-week total of $47.2 million domestic. --There will be a live Raw on 5/2 in Boston, the day after Backlash in Ma…

Tonight, the Wrestling Channel (www.thewrestlingchannel.tv) brought "International Showdown", a combination of all the wrestling genres shown on the channel, from Puro to hardcore to classic British wrestling. Short version of events, this afternoon was a Q + A session, featuring AJ Styles, Chris Daniels, Bill Apter (who seemed to be trying way too hard to sound American) and Mick F'n Foley. Questions were light hearted, and totally blew kayfabe away, and there was nothing of any insight said, even Daniels on ROH and Foley on Flair were diplomatic. The card was spectacular, even if containing matches we've all seen before. Outside of the British rules match, eve…

You can read my thoughts in full on myRoyal Treatment of Smackdown, but to sum up: it was a very well done TV match with great matwork and counter wrestling by both guys. The pace was a little slow, but they did all the little things that make a good match (going for pins on restholds instead of just sitting there, Angle bullying Marty around in holds by grabbing his mouth and rubbing his forearm in his face) Marty looked very good, and he should be kept around for the long haul. I liked the ending with Marty trying to repeatedly escape the anklelock, so Angle punishes him by adding the legbar to it.

WWE Women's Championship Trish Stratus vs Christy Hemme Well, I wanna go with the obvious choice and say Christy will win, but I think it is too soon for her to win the title and they need to maybe build this fued for maybe two more months and have Stratus drop it at Badd Blood. Of course....it won't work that way so I will just go with my gut. Winner:Christy Hemme Big Show vs Akebono WTF???????? Why would they destroy an almost flawless pay per view with such a pointless match. I mean...this will probably be the only time I flip through the channels or go for a sandwhich. I don't wanna even pick a winner but.....I must so I will choose a winner and leave…

I was just thinking about how a few weeks ago, Shawn Michaels referred to himself as 'Mr. Wrestlemania' during a promo he was doing to hype his feud with Kurt Angle. Is Shawn Michaels 'Mr. Wrestlemania'? I mean, he's definately one of the most electric stars in wrestling history. He's put on some amazing performances at Wrestlemania in the past, including his iron man match with Bret Hart , and his ladder match with Scott Hall, as well as numerous tag matches along side Marty Jannetty. Or would it perhaps be The Undertaker? The man who is undefeated, 12-0, at Wrestlemania? Is the 'Phenom' deserving of being called 'Mr. Wrestlemania'? Or how about Hulk Hogan? Hoga…

Ever since the brand separation 3 years ago WWE have been running with 2 World Championships, the WWE Championship on SmackDown! And the newly created Raw brand World Heavyweight Championship. On paper, it seems like a good idea?.but to any fan who has even glanced at WWE over the past few years; it?s painfully obvious that no one is buying it. No longer is there a champion of the World, a man who carries the promotion, instead there are just Brand Champions?champions of a television show. Of course, I?m not saying the Brand Extension is a bad thing; it?s a great idea really, but it could signify so much more with one solitary World Championship. Back in the 1980s wh…

I previously watched WM3, since it had a special meaning for me (I started watching the WWF during the build up), and it prompted me to track down some of the shows I haven't seen. Following that track I just watched Wrestlemania I for the first time, and I was amazed at how bad it was. I don't just mean in a "watching 1985 style wrestling in 2005" way, I mean in how shoddy the show was. Right from the start, they had Vince doing a voiceover listing the card while they showed photos, and the photo they had for the Executioner was decidedly not Buddy Rose under a mask. The actual Excecutioner looked like they told Buddy about 5 minutes before the show that he h…
