via 411: - Vince McMahon has told his staff that from this point forward, John Cena is the future and that he should be protected as if he were Hulk Hogan or Steve Austin. - The plan is for Big Show to end up as ECW's top heel. Many of ECW's upper card spots will be given to newcomers that will be introduced in the coming weeks. - Tazz and Lawler were both unhappy trying to work out their match. Tazz no longer wants to wrestle, and did not want to have a wrestling match. This upset the King, who then thought that if Tazz is no longer going to wrestle, then Tazz should have jobbed. Lawler agreed to lose as long as he didn't have to actually tap out (his a…

Just discovered this, written by JP Prag and James "JT" Thomlison. Really enjoyable reads and makes it fun to go back to the shows and catch those moments. Also neat to see the tiny things that aren't usually mentioned getting some respect. *makes note to come up with an HH tomorrow*

Just a bunch of thoughts that were going through my mind which I wanted to type down. This was commented on in the DVDVR messageboard but it was buried deep within some other post. Basically, it was about the Bret vs Austin matches. The Bret vs Austin matches are often debated on which one is better. The two matches in question are Bret vs Austin from Survivor Series 96 and of course Wrestlemania XIII. Of course you will find people favouring both sides. However, one very interesting thing I'm noticed (and I hope I'm not wrong on this) is that people who believe SSeries is better don't really think of that match as being one of the best of all time but peo…

Some of you may remember when Vince brought the nWo back they started selling the classic nWo shirts, only this time they had a giant WWF.com logo on the upper back which kinda kills the whole thing the nWo was about. Now I see that ECW.com redirects to a subpage of WWE.com instead of having its own domain. There's of course banner ads for WWEShopzone.com and a big paragraph of legalese at the bottom stating how everything is property of World Wrestling Entertainment. I thought they were supposed to be getting back to kayfabe on the websites, why can't they stop reminding people that all these factions that are supposed to be separate on TV are really all owned…

This is sort of like the "State Your Unpopular Opinions" thread at TSM, except I thought we could actually defend ours here:[li] Triple H is my favorite wrestler He has been for sometime and now that he's seemingly turning face, a lot more people are coming around on him. Before he feuded with Cena, though, I was trying to defend HHH daily against multiple naysayers from several different message forums. I just like his persona and his wrestling style. He really does remind me of a mix of several old NWA wrestlers. Namely Harley Race and Ric Flair. I also think he's entertaining in non-wrestling segments. For example, on Raw, I marked out when he spit out the water th…

Sucks considering his segment on Dusty's DVD was one of the best things ever seen on WWE produced video. I hope he lands in TNA, as "Goldust let go by WWE" has become wrestling's version of Gangstalicious getting shot again.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be in that building if Cena wins tonight.

So, here we are. Since I made a new thread, I thought I should add more content to the original post and perhaps expand on my opinion more. Chris Benoit is pretty much the embodiment of "smark-darling." He has a ton of wrestling experience, great selling, good facial expressions and he's one of the best wrestlers currently active as far as it pertains to psychology. He's put on great matches in countries all over the world. He's worked for ECW, WCW & WWE. He trained in the infamous "Hart Dungeon." So, why then, do I find him so boring? It's certainly not what he does in the ring. I've found several of his matches gripping, such as his Royal Rumble match with Kurt …

RIP. He fought cancer for years and finally succumbed it seems. A total class act according to almost everyone in wrestling.

Reading The Death of WCW over Christmas break has been an eye-opening experience. While it's true that most of what is covered here isn't new, this is the first time anyone has really recapped the history of the promotion in one format with added thought and analysis. Dave Meltzer's quote in the foreword may be what stuck with me most. He said that there have been far more cases since 2001 of companies attempting to repeat WCW's failures than there have been of companies attempting to repeat WCW's successes. The NWO, quite frankly, is probably the greatest and most successful storyline in the history of American wrestling. Most will say Austin/McMahon or Austin/Rock,…

When Tatanka made his return to WWE, a lot of people were barely able to stifle laughter at the thought of a guy from the cartoon era wrestling in 2006. Yet when he did make it back on TV, pretty much everyone was impressed at not only the shape he was in, but how he was still pretty decent in the ring and took bumps some of the youngin's would hesitate taking. Considering SD's roster is pretty much barebones now due to injuries and ECW needing a talent pool, I can't figure out why someone like Tatanka is still jerking the curtain on Velocity. I'm not saying he deserves the title, or even a main event push for that matter, but Finlay's proven that there's room in th…

Apparently the fight was real, and the story is pretty crazy. Booker is the man.

From Meltz: With the Pillman DVD, and the impending debuts of Harry Smith and Nattie Neidhart (she's rumored to sign after recovering from knee surgery) I figured Vince would be getting the Stampede footage soon. I just hope they don't do anything stupid considering they have tons more footage featuring Bret and Owen.

This was posted by Kevin Cook on DVDVR not long ago, and makes me laugh every time I read it. So I thought I'd post it here.

Inspired by the awesomeness of the Benoit vs Finlay Judgement Day I decided I wanted to make a post of my favourite Benoit matches ever. If I don't get too lazy I will do this by category such as Favourite WWF, WCW, ECW, other, UWA, NJPW and of course Stampede. Than I will attempt to do an overall favourite category. Of course there are several matches where I really couldn't put one match in front of another but just did so because I had to. Yeah, life is tough. WP's Favourite Benoit WWF matches 1)Benoit vs Austin from Smackdown in Edmonton, Alberta Canada This match which actually has 5 mnutes taken out from it makes it to first spot primarily for t…

http://pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=18248&p=1 Ouch, I couldn't imagine paying $40 a pop for some of the crap they've been putting on PPV the last couple of years.

From WO: Wow, who was he traveling with to cause "extreme heat"?

As far as reasons why, Meltzer simply said "your first guess would be the correct guess". So, yeah, that makes two people that have now felt the effects of the drug policy, that we know of.

It's very unfortunate. Joey Mercury is really good, and Johnny Nitro was starting to get really good. They looked like a tag team, had a doubleteam finisher, had a valet, were over, got to wrestle in TV main events on a fairly regular basis, had a great gimmick and for most of their run, unfortunately, had no rivalry. Then, WWE actually builds up a babyface tag team for the first time in years that beats MNM on Sunday night, which got a big pop. They killed it just minutes later by breaking up the heels. What's saddest about the breakup is the timing of it. After a year of facing whoever WWE could put together to challenge them, they finally had an actual tag team t…

My God, they just had Khali squash the Undertaker at the PPV. He pinned him with one foot on his chest. I NEVER thought I'd see this day. WOW. Vince must really be a Dalip fan.

SSS states that there's been talk between NJ President Simon Inoki and Johnny Ace about WWE using Shinsuke Nakamura. If it does happen, I wonder how WWE is going to screw that one, and who will Nakamura have to job to other than trip...
