Well, here we go! Normally my shows will go up on Saturday, with the house shows being on Sunday. Although this week my first show will go up on Thursday, because I am out of town for the weekend. I am trying a different writing style this time around in hopes of not burning myself out, and I am also trying to not do a disservice to Gordon Solie, so his verbiage may not be as prevalent at the beginning. I guess what I am trying to say is, these shows may be a bit shorter than what I normally turned out, and at the beginning, they may be a little rough as I try to get everyone debuted. So, I hope you enjoy them, but please bare with me as I get back in the groove! So,…

After the sudden collapse of Texas All-star Wrestling in early March Dory Funk Jr was more than a little irritated. The wrestling world had been downright chaotic these last few years. First the NWA the governing body of American pro wrestling since 1948 collapsed seemingly with a snap of Verne Gange's fingers. And that was just the beginning companies merging together to create super territories, Companies either starting then shutting down in less than a year ( tas ) or shutting their doors only to reopen them just as quickly. While Dory was somewhat glad to hear of the NWA's expansion into Texas he was also rather disappointed to see them limit that expansion to the ea…

"It certainly will make for an interesting dynamic," said promoter Frank Valois, president of Promotions Varoussac, the entity behind Lutte Internationale, "but I'm up for a challenge. First and foremost, I want to deliver quality wrestling to our great fanbase in Eastern Canada and I believe we can achieve that with a mix…

The last show of 1985 for NJPW, building toward their big January show, New Year Dash, which will feature all three titles (IWGP Heavyweight, IWGP Jr. Heavyweight and the IWGP Tag Team) on the line. I figured this would be a good chance to set the stage, with the respective champions (Fujinami, Tiger Mask, and Fujiwara/Yamazaki) already established. NJPW Japan Cup Tag Team League 1985, 12/12/85 Ryogoku Kokugikan ca. 9500 Fans 1. Tiger Mask & Shiro Koshinaka beat Ashura Hara & Yoshinari Ogawa (7:56) by DQ. A fast paced junior heavyweight tag match, with some very good interactions between Tiger Mask and Ashura Hara. The youngster Ogawa wa…

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Feb. 15, 1985 Wrestling Observer Newsletter AWA News: The word out of the AWA this week is that Verne Gagne has brought in a new booker and there will be some MAJOR changes moving forward. It's not known at this time who the new booker is but apparently there will be some angles that will follow through from the previous regime as well as some that will be dropped or majorly altered. Since Gordon Solie has gone to work in Continental, the entire broadcast team has been revamped with Larry Nelson being brought in as host of AWA Championship Wrestling on ESPN while Ken Resnick will be handling the interviewing duties, Rod Tron…

When the tumultuous alliance between promoters that stood as the unified AWA for one full year finally came crumbling down at the end of 1984, no one was surprised. While the different promotions have begun to position themselves for what appears to be a wrestling war in 1985, securing television deals and locking up talent, the World Wrestling Federation has been shockingly silent. They had been promoting a January 5th super show on their Superstars of Wrestling television show, and then when that evening arrived, HBO showed the 1984 hit film Ghostbusters instead, without a mention of the previously planned airing. In reality, a blizzard in New York had caused the p…
