February 2020

  1. The structure of the match seeks to elevate Carter, a young upstart and semi-regular for ACTION who takes a beating but keeps coming back time and time again. Carter does an excellent job fighting from underneath. The action builds to a compelling and believable series of false finishes and big moves. The action is something that would be standard business in a PWG ring, but in this environment — a rec center in a small Georgia town on the periphery of Atlanta — it stands out, and it’s outstanding. This is a very good match and one of the best matches in ACTION's relatively brief history. It’s definitely worth seeking out and watching. Here's a link to my full …

  7. It sucked that things fell apart for Mayu to have her match with Sareee but they found a great replacement in Takumi Iroha. This was an excellent affair with Iroha working on Iwatani's arm and shoulder. Everything Iroha did was crisp, clean, and stiff. Mayu was tremendous working underneath with her selling and showing great urgency in trying to get the win quickly as possible. The closing stretch was a thing of beauty of Takumi throwing every bomb she could and Mayu with a great comeback not staying down until she couldn't take anymore. Iroha coming out the victor was the right choice as it'll set up another match for Mayu's red belt, a MOTYC for sure.

  15. Very close to the great match they had in 18' at the Strong Climb tournament. Young Gawd is fucking outstanding in this, dude knows how to wrestle with a sense of urgency and dishes punishment in a way that his opponent HAS to level up and dish back at him, which leads to awesome sequences and good strike exchanges. Loved the way he kept one upping Daichi every time, either with a vicious slap or a stiff kick aimed at Hashimoto's arm. Daichi selling was great once again, at least until the final few minutes were they both went into "your turn my turn" mode. The only complaint I have about this match is that Daichi doesn't have the offense to lead a finishing sequence…

  19. Orange bumped like a madman for PAC. PAC plays this straight and brutalizes Cassidy. That turnbuckle spot was downright disgusting. Orange's ability to do some of the stuff he does with his hands still in his pockets is incredible. Orange rolls himself out of the ring so he can get into PAC's head. I love that PAC has to use this trick to save himself from being pinned. Cassidy gets in some amazing hope spots and puts on an all-time great underdog performance. This is so much more than a silly, comedy match. This is well worth watching, as is hearing Jim Cornette rant over this match. He hated it so much that he didn't even watch the rest of the show! ★★★★¾
