All right, since people have expressed an interest in watching more World of Sport and the Veidor/Davies match got some pretty positive feedback, I decided that instead of nominating a bunch of workers no-one's ever heard of, I would choose an intro match for each of the stars and if you like the wrestler you can watch more of their matches and nominate them yourselves. In order not to break anyone's heart, I will try not to pick workers whom we only have one or two matches of. Let's start with the perennial villain Mick McManus, who maintained that hair of his through a forty year career. Here's a vintage McManus performance from 1976 against a then masked Kung…

Who are the guys you expect to do well in the final voting that won't make your list? Where do you break from the conventional wisdom of the board, or wrestling fandom at large? I'd say there's a difference in that obviously, guys like Michaels and Angle would do better in the average poll than they will here. My most controversial pick of a guy who might not make my ballot is Tully Blanchard, which would be absurd to many here. It's not so much that I won't list him as it is that I need to go back into his Microscope thread and remember what's great about him. Something about the conventional wisdom around his excellence has never quite worked for me, but I also know…

Mentioned it in the Vince thread but curious how others are approaching this more broadly. How many people are you ranking on a limited number of matches? What's the fewest matches you'll be ranking a given worker on? As an example, I believe Parv mentioned Hiroshi Hase as a top 20 candidate after roughly 10 matches. Curious how comfortable people are with a smaller sample size for certain wrestlers up and down the ballot.

The "Best 80s Worker" got me thinking about breaking this stuff down even further and I figured we could take a look at Japan first. Which Japanese wrestler will you rank highest? Which Japanese wrestlers do you expect to make your list? Who was the best of the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s to come out of Japan? Who was your favorite Ace? Who was your favorite top challenger? Who was your favorite under the radar guy? Who was the best at their peak? Who has disappointed you the most?

Is there a glaring lack of CZW wrestlers I can easily understand that it's not a goldmine of fantastic wrestling but, looking through the nominations and not seeing Blk Jeez makes me wonder if CZW workers are under represented?

As stated in the original rules, nominations are due March 1st and the ballot is due at WrestleMania 32. That leaves two months to get in any last minute nominations and 3 months to finish off your ballot. What is everyone's game plan going into the home stretch? Any other areas that people feel need to be discussed? Finishing line thoughts? If anybody knows how to set up a webpage for voting where people are forced to pick from a list to make their top 100, let me know.

I have no dog in this fight. Just interested to know where people are. It's possible that whoever wins the 80s ends up as #1, possible but not a definite. I envision more fun polls as we inch towards end.

As a counterpart to the other thread, who are the least popular wrestlers on your list? Is there anyone on your ballot who you think won't make anyone else's?

I was looking over my tentative list today and here are the individuals which I have marked as "need to see more". Could someone kindly recommend 5-8 matches of each to get as comprehensive look of those wrestlers that a limiting look like that allows: Andrei Kopylov Bison Kimura Buddy Rogers Buddy Rose Chicky Starr Clive Myers Invader I Invader III Jackie Sato Lou Thesz Minoru Tanaka Ricky Santana Terry Rudge Steve Grey Yumi Ikeshita Zoltan Boscik I will also lump the Dragon Gate nominees in here. I really do want to give a look to those nominated and have enjoyed some of the sampling of Dragon Gate I have done throughout the years (especially when…

To the more avid fans who have seen more things, please note that I am trying to craft a path that will help people ease into the style more than I am coming up with a list of the best matches. Chances are your favorite matches will get some play at some point, but I think there is value in watching stuff in a certain order so that the excess that is sometimes there isn't a turn-off. Please also note that while I've put a lot of thought into the match selections, in the interest of sharing stuff, I'm not really trying to make a well-written post. I'm just trying to hit on the key points. Anyway ... I've been thinking about this for a few days and here's what I've …

Spurned partly by the possibly v Undertaker at WM talk. The general feeling on Angle (and Michaels) here was the biggest 'holy shit!' moment when I first came to this site. I'm curious how folks feel about him now. His TNA run gets very little attention, and I'm wondering if his WWE stuff is still as polarising as ever.

I don't know that I have a real point in saying this, but I just wanted to say this. I see my #97 as a ringing endorsement. The #97 wrestler on my ballot is among the top wrestlers of all-time. I feel strongly about my #97. I'd go to bat for my #97. We talk a lot about who is in contention for #1 on our ballots, but I find myself just as excited about guys in the 75-100 range. They aren't GOAT candidates, but who cares? My question is, do others agree that how we rank our 80-100 deserves just as much scrutiny and thought as how we rank our 1-20? If you disagree, what is the cutoff where you think the ranking becomes more arbitrary?

I've been thinking about this watching all the young Kiyoshi Tamura matches. Who are some of your favorite/the best young wrestlers ever? I'm thinking first 2-3 years of their career? Gut reaction is Tamura, Kobashi, and Akiyama. Who else was a great rookie/youngster?

Thought this might be fun and a bit more focused than the "Who's in your 100". I went through the list of nominees and did a preliminary sorting for the first time tonight, setting out top ten contenders, top 25, 26-50, and 50-100 roughly. I ended up with 52 in the top ten, top 25 and 26-50 groups, with another 36 in the 50-100 range. Gives me a decent base of general impressions to start building a list out of. So, here are my first glance top ten contenders: Toshiaki Kawada Stan Hansen Sami Zayn Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat Nick Bockwinkel Mitsuharu Misawa Kenta Kobashi 'The Great Muta' Keiji Mutoh Jumbo Tsuruta Hiroshi Tanahashi Genichiro Tenryu …

Don't know if this is a fun idea or a dumb one. But let's say this poll wasn't us, it was a poll of those in wrestling (dead, alive, owners, wrestlers WHOEVER you want it to be). What do you think various people's top 10 would look like? I'll start out with one I actually have no idea. Vince Russo.

Self-explanatory, thought it'd be interesting to compare how many wrestlers we'd rank from a certain region, I'm splitting it Japan-Mexico-Europe-US&friends. Currently jap folks make up a little over half of my list, I have between 15-20 lucha guys and the rest is mostly US with some safe EU picks like Finlay, Han and Breaks thrown in there.

I saw the claim made that some people think it is Kawada. Arn Anderson might be a de facto go to choice and before thinking about things, I thought it might be also. But it has just occurred to me that it might just be ... Jumbo Tsuruta. He had four legit great tag teams who ALL had matches in the ****3/4+ range. Jumbo and Baba - some real classics in the 70s, especially vs. Funks. Jumbo and Tenryu - some real classics vs. Choshu and co. Jumbo and Yatsu - really great team in 88-9. Jumbo and Taue - awesome swan song and the six mans with Fuchi also all-time best level matches for their type. Could even argue that the Jumbo and Fuchi combo might st…

Since the start of the GWE project, who are the workers whose stock is rising and falling for you? Who is rising on your list? Who is falling? What has convinced you one way or the other? No one is allowed to say Ric Flair. For the love of god please no one say Ric Flair. Stock Rising William Regal Regal went from somewhere in the 50s to a very likely top 25 worker. The complaint against Regal was always that he lacked MOTYC type matches and after rewatching or viewing for the first time stuff like the Arn match from SuperBrawl, the Larry Z series, the Hashimoto matches, Finlay from Uncensored, the Chris Hero match from NXT (This is one of my new favorite m…
