  1. Started by Loss,

Stay tuned! Hint: It has little to do with the board and more to do with me personally.

  2. Started by Loss,

Ultimately, this experiment was a failure. The board is gone. Starting now, we return to the sharp line of avoiding politics here. If something like Saudi Arabia comes up where there is topical overlap, we'll handle that on a case-by-case basis. I trust people here to know the difference and stay on the right side.

While this has always been an intermittent issue, I've been getting them regularly lately. Error 521 - Web server is down Error 52 (or maybe it's 520?) - Bad Gateway The latter gives me the option to "retry for a live version" of the site, which usually works. Has anyone else been experiencing this more frequently than usual?

I am noticing when I post here via my iPhone that all apostrophes and quotation marks get removed from whatever I typed. It seems to be a recent issue, wondering if its some kind of board software quirk. Some examples: these all have apostrophes when I type them in.... wont cant didnt This should have quotation marks around it When I hit send they all will disappear.

Everyone should be able to now do these things: - Post HTML (which includes tweet embedding) - Edit their own topic titles - Delete their own posts

  6. I can't really tell if anyone in the queue is a real person or spam. I'm going to resend all validation emails and then approve the ones that successfully validate a second time.

I needed a total wrestling detox. I was starting to hate it. I'm back. All is well.

  8. Started by Loss,

Dylan made a thought-provoking tweet that I'd like to share. It raises interesting points, and I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has it. https://twitter.com/DylanWaco/status/941656568705290240 In short, is there a way to use the Match Discussion Archive to make it easier to look at the big picture? So if you want to compare Portland in 1980 and 1985, for example, or two Intercontinental champions, or how various guys have worked cage matches, how can we make that easier? I don't want to overhaul the folder, nor do I think that's what Dylan is advocating. But I would like to find ways to better integrate it with everything else that happens here instea…

  9. Started by Loss,

I created a new, separate account for cheapshot to post GIFs in the Match Discussion Archive, and possibly elsewhere on the board from time to time. He'll never post written content under that username - only GIFs. We set it up that way because we know that images slow down the page view for some of you, so that gives you the option to block that user and still view the page without missing any written posts. So he'll have his regular posting account for written posts, and a separate account just for GIFs. If you follow him on Twitter, you know he makes quite a few.

  10. They keep coming up as unread. Thanks

  11. Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place. We're currently without a subforum to discuss matches from this month and it's left that section all quiet/a few people posting October matches in September. Thanks

I finally got a communication signal and I wanted to let you guys know I'm alright. P.S. Sorry for posting this in this folder, didn't know where else it would fit but wanted to let anyone worried know.

Over the last couple of weeks I have talked to several people who are really happy with the way PWO is shaping up. Lots of love for the microscope and the yearbook folders are as active as ever. Here's a chance to sound off on your compliments and criticisms of the board. If you make a suggestion, we will discuss it but it doesn't guarantee we will necessarily make the changes you prefer. You have a voice... USE IT!!!

  14. Started by Loss,

    Try that.

  15. Started by Loss,

This board was founded on the idea that we would discuss Pro Wrestling Only. Of course, it only makes sense when discussing matches that often double as morality plays, or storylines that tend to implicitly and explicitly touch on issues of gender and race, or capitalist business models of wrestling companies, that sometimes the discussion will spill into broader issues. It seems to be happening more often lately, I think because of a changing culture and more politically-charged times. I also sense that the community seems pretty divided over whether this is a good thing or a bad thing. I don't think it's necessary that we are all in agreement on this issue, but I would …

I just renewed the domain for the site. It has now officially existed for ten years!

  17. Started by Loss,

This was a request made a long time ago by some people here that I would love to actually implement. Unfortunately, I've been emailing our host contact about this for a year and he's not getting back to me, so I'm thinking of other ways to accomplish a similar outcome. Maybe it just means we have a separate site away from PWO for chat or something along those lines. Any suggestions on how to implement? I'm also open to the idea of not being the one running it.

We talked it over and the feeling is if something is worth posting, it deserves it's own thread. If we feel a topic is getting multiple threads then we will merge those topics. Feel free to Create new topics!

  19. A couple of us feel that over recent weeks, the board has become too focused on bitching about modern WWE, sucking on the teet of New Japan/ROH, and discussion of old wresting, the life and blood of PWO, seems to have fallen off a cliff. I just wanted to voice this somewhere, because this trend of constant moaning about the current product is starting to make this place feel like any other generic wrestling board. I thought possibly making everyone aware of this might help bring back a bit more old-school.

  20. Started by JerryvonKramer,

The recent closing of the mega threads, a move which I don't care about in the least and have no feelings on one way or the other, has led to the general pro wrestling folder being dominated by topics about current WWE. I think there are enough of these topics to warrant an exclusive folder. Not only will this serve as a great way of keeping all that stuff together so that those wishing to discuss Rusev's push or Steve Austin's current relationship with the WWE or other such topics can do so all in one place, but also so that those wishing to avoid such topics entirely can do so too. Collectivisation and containment. Another good reason to do this is that the firs…

From time to time, PWO gets accused of having one mind and one opinion in regards to certain wrestlers/styles/matches that are our favorites. I find this to be fairly astounding given the diverse opinion of the group of people I interact with about wrestling on a daily basis. Here was a quick listing that I thought of off the top of my head with prominent posters/mods here on things we disagree on: 1. I had the 8/24/94 Kansai/Hotta vs. Hokuto/Kong match as my #2 MOTY and *****, Loss didn't rank this on first watch at even ***. 2. Loss is generally a big fan of Hayabusa, I am not a fan and Childs especially isn't. 3. I rated Rage in a Cage from 1997 as ****…

  22. Started by goodhelmet,

Man, Parv struck a nerve on the latest Supershow talking about how you can make real friends on the internet through this crazy thing called wrestling. Fucking true. Besides the hundreds of hours doing podcasts, I have met some really cool and nice people on the internet and in real life through wrestling. I want to throw a shout out to people I have hung out with outside the internet's boundaries in real life. Some of this will be perceived as name dropping, and it is, but in the best possible way and I am glad all of these guys have entered my life. -- One of our old posters, Teke184, came to my house back in 2005 or 2006 and we sat and watched wrestling while eati…

Did he get blocked? He says so on Twitter and I don't have a reason not to believe him. Okay, so Rovert can be a bit of a dick at times on here and on Twitter but I really can't imagine his joke, which was shit but not in a rude way just in a "How bout airplane food?!" type of way, being the final straw for him. He truly does enjoy this place even if at times it doesn't really show when he doesn't explicitly say it. But yeah, dude deserves to be here.

  24. Started by goodhelmet,

Some people are concerned about a beehive mentality. Others are worried about mod bullying. Maybe you just don't like that we don't dwell into other areas and want it to be Pro Wrestling 75% and Everything else 25%. Well, if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. How can we help PWO be everything you want it to be?

I'm not sure what caused him to suddenly lose his mind, but he's outta here. I deleted all of the evidence, so a lot of you will have no idea what this is even about.
