Figure we should have a catch all thread for folks who got this and are up late watching it all.

It's the holiday season so I am bringing the holiday blues to PWO. It is no surprise I don't care for Kane or Demolition but more specifically, I don't care for Barry Darsow. I didn't like him pre Dems or post Dems. However, we already have threads created to discuss those guys. My hope for this thread is that it becomes a springboard to create more individual threads where we can discuss individual wrestlers such as the Dick Murdoch or Terry Funk threads. JVK slagged Dick Murdoch and it forced me to put in words why I liked him so much. After reading this in his latest blog entry, I decided it was time for a "Jim Ross is a grouchy, hateful, vile human being" thread. Too many things he has said and done lately have exposed what most of us already suspected, but let's put it all in one place.

I know a lot of you have or will be getting the set, so feel free to use this thread to cross-post anything you post there, so we can leach off the discussion at PWO. For all intents and purposes, DVDR and here seem like "IWC smart" HQ. Only, nobody who posts here seem to have any of the received (and irritating) opinions I'd typically expect from the Dean Malenko-loving* IWC smart crowd. I was thinking about this one earlier. Does anybody think Undertaker is a bigger star than Hogan? I think when it comes to name recognition, Undertaker is as a known name as Hogan, amongst fans and non fans. When Paul Bearer died it was shocking that so many people knew who he was, so I have little doubt normal folk know who Taker is, if only for being that Wrasslin guy. So I've been talking about starting a project for several years now where I go back and watch every episode of Smoky Mountain Wrestling in order. With the summer here and a real lack of things on my DVR to watch, I thought there would be no better time than the present. So as outlined elsewhere Dave has been running polls on the website with list of potential HoF candidates. John also has a thread at Classics for discussing the same issue (new, different candidates missing from the ballot). In this thread I'll look at the candidates in the polls, one poll at a time. If I think the person should be on the ballot I'll bold them. If there is a greater than fifty percent chance that I would vote for them I'll put them in italics. According to Jim Ross' blog, the WWE will release a Randy Savage DVD on June 9. As Jim Ross mentioned in his blog, it will probably have the Savage vs. Steamboat match from WrestleMania III on it. But what other matches do you think should be on there?

When somebody passes away, it deserves its own thread. If you post something in the Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread section, and the conversation spreads across 3 pages, it probably deserved its own thread. Common sense people!!!!

This wasn't a serious thing - it was Danielson as heel playing up to a stereotype and playing with the crowd, and them loving it. The crowd were just playing their role as part of the gimmick and feeling like they were involved in the product. This sounds so counter-productive that I don't know what to think of this.

This seems like a fun idea, given that there is no shortage of universally accepted truths in wrestling. Stuff like Kurt Angle being the best wrestler ever, Lex Luger supposedly being a musclehead with no talent at all, and the Dynamite/Tiger Mask series all being ***** classics have already been debated and debunked by the more level headed crowd (many of which can be found here). Some brief thoughts on some of the matches I've seen so far from the deathvalley best of 80s series. Thanks a million to deathvalley for this. This is a must for any fan. I've been watching the majority of these without audio. I've used a PS2 which works fine for the video but not for the audio. THe Magnasonic DVD player worked better but the majority of the matches were without sound. One other DVD player I tried didn't work as well. Anybody know what DVD player I should be playing these discs in? Please help! With all credit to Meltzer's Montreal timeline and Bret's book but as an oral history their Greatest Rivalaries DVD is ridiculously compelling it is like a 30 for 30 ESPN documentary. Nevermind the interplay between the two. Highest possible recommendation
