  3. One of Ted's last singles matches (he had two indie ones after this before returning to AJPW for Real World Tag League and getting hurt/retiring) and you know what? For 1993 and 39yo Ted, this is pretty good. His charisma, and how he works holds and when in holds, coupled with Akiyama's facials gets you through the early stretches just fine. Ted hotshots Jun, which breaks the arm stuff and he goes on offense, working around the neck and sleepers. Akiyama's eventual comeback looked like the style clash you'd expect, but Ted hung in there. He even catches Jun on a dive and then eats a flying forearm off the apron to the outside. There's a botched roll-up off the ropes here …

  4. AJPW Triple Crown Champion Mitsuharu Misawa vs Stan Hansen - AJPW 10/23/93 Misawa vs Hansen was a popular main event in 1993 for All Japan. They headlined the finals of the Carnival, had a title defense in May and was the main event of the big October Anniversary Show. I think 1993 All Japan has been defined by the beginning of the legendary Four Corners of Heaven Tag Series and the incredible Hansen vs Kobashi rivalry, but in terms of main event rivalry this was the match. Not only that I think this was Stan's Swan Song as a main event singles draw. He would win the title one more time in 1995 for reasons I am not sure of, but after this, the focus began to shift to…

  6. Sting vs Sid Vicious - WCW Halloween Havoc 1993 Not much has really changed in three years. Yes this is not for the World Title, but men’s aesthetic has not really changed. Sid has shown significant improvement in the ring in 1993 and it continues here. Thing begins Sting’s descent into the midcard as Flair gets pushed in Sid’s stead and Hogan comes in next summer. Sid in classic Sid fashion can’t last more than 6 months in a place and is out within a week due to the Scissors incident with Arn Anderson. His Horsemen run from 90-91 is his longest run. I still want to watch the Flair match from this run but I was would say his 93 run, then Skyscrapers, then Horsemen th…

  7. More heated their Clash match and these two had great chemistry. Wonderful jumps the Dragon and its on. Great opening as each is firing and Orndorff getting the best of it. Steamer takes a powder and Wonderful is all over him. Loved the Dragons missed dive from the ramp into the ring. Steamboat goes for a flying hammerlock and this begins the armwork that would dominate the match. Between this& Regal he sure loved armwork and he was really good at it. It did go for a while and started to get heel in peril. Orndorff fires up on outside and it feels like a babyface comeback. They collide on a crossbosy attempt and that levels the playing field. I thought the finish stre…
