Not that I would ever want to see it become violent at any point in the now 4-decades running on and off feud, but in the current media landscape everything like this is now fair game to be booked.

I know there are some other fans out there. So what are you reading? I recently decided to do a reread of Daredevil series that started with Kevin Smith as a writer that ran to about 2010. I've gotten through about the first 10 issues so far. The Kevin Smith issues didn't age terribly but they aren't as good as I remember. Things come together decently by the end but there are some weird spots in the story. His 8 issues are what gave me a real love of Daredevil and it was fun to revisit them. I'm really looking forward to rereading the Bendis run on the book. I also recently read the 14th volume of One Punch Man. I thought the series had started to slow to a crawl…

I watched the Roman Polanski film Repulsion last night from 1965 and there's a little scene in which they turn the tv on and there's a wrestling match on. British commentator. It's a tag match. I think "Rebel Ray Hunter" is one of the guys mentioned. This is one of the oddest instances of pro wrestling popping up in an unexpected place I can think of. Any other takers?

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/envelope/cotown/la-et-ct-republican-debate-fox-news-20160304-story.html FOX News drew 16.9 million viewers for the last debate to see the follow up to the slow-burn Trump vs. Megyn Kelly angle from last August. This was their second highest viewed broadcast ever -- second only to that August debate which drew 24 million viewers. Conclusive proof that the key to a boom is finding one megastar and building around him. It helps that he is in a particularly hot angle that has involved the whole promotion. The cross-promotional Trump vs. Hillary Clinton angle planned for this Fall is sure to draw huge ratings.

say what you will about this segment otherwise but both of them slowly walking towards each other reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey when the astronauts discover the monolith. Reminded me instantly but just one of those things you bat away with before the booking of it starts. But it has remained in my head for awhile. Last year I was actually inspired to rewatch and review Gladiator on Letterboxd after WrestleMania and in no small part because of Russell Crowe's cameo.

Pain & Gain might be Dwayne's best performance. He shows a vulnerability underneath his huge frame that never wavers, even when it leads to violence. I was really hoping it was good from the trailers, and it exceeded expectations a little.

Hey. First of all, I hope that I am not violating any rules here and won't get banned for bringing up another wrestling board. I am trying to log in to my old account there for months, but that board is not recognizing my password. I tried to reset it, but its seems like their board isnt able to send any mails. Same with trying to register a new account - no emails with activation of the account are being send. Their "Contact us" form also doesnt work. I heard that the owner had passed away earlier this year and it seems like whoever is in charge there now doesnt know what he is doing. If anyone here has an account there, could you please inform them that they…

If you take nothing but the absolute best performances, then Brando might win this. However, if Dylan's consistency measure has to be followed, then there is no chance. Way too many stinkers throughout his career. Post-prime also changes things. My personal GOAT is Robert De Niro. His run from Mean Streets, Bang the Drum Slowly in the early 70s to Jackie Brown - I must be the only one who loves that movie - and Analyse This in the late 90s is surreal for how unbelievably great it is. But if you include post-prime, then the dozens of giant turds he has laid the last 16-17 years or so will count against him. If you are looking for a limited run of concentrated qual…

What comes to mind first is something I saw Tom Petty say in a documentary from about 20 years ago, comparing the state of rock music to wrestling in a way that made me think he held both in similar regard. On the other end of the spectrum I remember Roger Waters on a radio interview in the late 90’s, in tangent to what he felt about performers who don’t sing their own material, said it was like comparing sumo to “Wrestlemania”. Elvis worked the mid-south Coliseum as did infamously The Beatles a decade later after the “Bigger than Jesus” scandal. Led Zeppelin’s manager Peter Grant was a wrestler before switching to the music industry. And Jimmy Hart is a one hit wond…

  14. To me one of the funnier and moments I can relate to on Something to Wrestle With is when Bruce is asked about Hilbilly Jim’s music being overdubbed on the Network and he immediately says he hates it. The downside to the way music is used and overdubbed eventually is kind of a bummer to whatever nostalgia is happening. This is a topic I’m interested in exploring more directly with you guys since I’m guessing you’ve watched a lot more wrestling then I have. With AEW bringing in classic rock songs for some of its top talent was an encouraging sign to me that they are of the world rather than of their own universe so to speak. For me, and this shifts every so …

  15. Watching this movie for some reason what came to mind is Vince Russo booking WCW. I'm not a fan of the trend in filmmaking that has gone from making a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end that makes sense to it being all about the cool moments, the swerve, the twist, with very little thought given to how it all fits together or making everything leading up to and coming after those moments mean something. Four writers didn't help, but it's like they all came up with stuff they wanted to do and then went 'aw crap, I guess we have to fill in the time around all that'. It's a mess of a movie that makes no sense. I didn't hate it like Halloween Kills, but I didn't…

The UFC wasn’t always a heel promotion, but it certainly is now. Their central stars are Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, and Ronda Rousey. McGregor is probably not nearly the ass hole he plays on TV, but dropping lines about how many people died to make his watch and taking the belt from his champion opponent… that is top level heel stuff. Jon Jones does drugs, more or less gets caught cheating on his wife regularly, and drives his car into stuff all the time, never seeming to be too remorseful. He is so generally unlikable it drives me nuts. Ronda also rubs people the wrong way. She seems likeable sometimes, but her competitiveness turns her into raging bitch. The chip on h…

Independent Jesse Ventura I'm drawing a blank on any others that we know for sure, or can reasonably assume based on comments, should be lumped in with a specific political party. (And feel free to take this thread totally off the rails, if you wish, by using past promos or out-of-the-ring misdeeds to affiliate certain wrestlers with certain political parties)

I haven't seen that hot take yet, but I always love it when super deep in the bubble rasslin folks think all sports is a work Anyway, I love baseball, this season is gonna be total horseshit, tons of players will get injured, 16 playoff teams is a joke, we're gonna have a labor stoppage soon Did Russo book this shot? Anyway, I'm a Yankees fan and I'm pissed
