Pro Wrestling Mostly

Because EVERYTHING is pro wrestling!

  1. Hey everyone, I just released my new album, Strong Style, via Bandcamp for free. Please give it a listen and tell your friends! The last new album raised (very little) money for the Cauliflower Alley Club in 2017 and is still available via Peanut Butter Records' bandcamp. I'm no longer sending proceeds to Cauliflower Alley Club, but PB Records could use all the support they can get right now during this crisis to keep releasing and supporting Cleveland artists. This time around, I'm sharing my new album for free and hoping people can just spend 32 minutes with it as a diversion from all this awfulness. Please, give it a listen, tell your friends, tell your enemi…

  2. I don't have a lot of knowledge or things to share, other than that I'm super excited that I found the full soundtrack to Rollergames on YouTube! This was a show I got into in the late 80s because of the pro wrestling similarities, but also because it aired on a lineup with American Gladiators, WWF Superstars, and NWA World Wide Wrestling. I was always interested in the overlap in pro wrestling and roller derby history and this thread seems like a good place to be a catch-all for this topic. I'm sure others know more than I do.

Surely Rock more than anyone knows that the selling is just as important as the comeback for a babyface. Hopefully Cena will get in there and teach these geeks how to work.

i watch a lot of boxing, and consequently i follow boxing news, and sadly that means sometimes reading things that promoters and associated lowlifes say. and that shit is a lot like pro wrestling, which isn't a surprise at all but sometimes you really do get incredible stuff. like this amazing quote from Eddie Hearn about Joshua-Povetkin: so uh, discuss boxing and carny shit in boxing.

Anyone interested in doing a PWO NFL fantasy league this year? We'd need 6, 8, or 10 people. Free league, standard scoring, snake draft, just for fun and bragging rights. Most likely on ESPN unless anyone violently objects. I think the biggest difficulty will be setting a draft time that suits everyone. You can use the queue system on ESPN to set up a pretty good auto-draft, though.

  11. I've been ACHING to talk about this shit here. England is the absolute biggest shitbag heel in the history of the sport! Claiming they be the best and that "FOOTBALL IS COMING HOME" while only winning ONCE is peak heel shit. The sheer hypocrisy on the treatment of players is astounding, too. Miz without the accolades, pretty much. Alternatively, they would be that indie fan that hypes up any C+ player to be a A+ one. Walcott and other players like him like Lingard and Sterling are the sort of backyarders who only do flips. Spain would be the Revival. Always technically profficient, but other than a period of glory, bunch of underachievers. Brazil is the act…

  12. Hi All, Some of you might of noticed that I have been gone for the past few weeks. I had a mental health scare a few weeks back and was in Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital in Fort Washington, PA for a two week stay. I have realized many things since I have been out and functional in society. I feel that wrestling has helped me through many tough times including when my parents were drinking through my latest bout with suicidal ideation. I want to share my story and share some experiences that are wrestling related and hopefully I can help anyone that's in need with depression, anxiety, or any form of mental illness. Believe it or not the first thing I did on the Frida…

  13. So I've worked with cheese in various forms (buying, selling, making) for about 15 years now and know way more about cheese than any sane person should ever know about cheese. Since I'm on this forum and have as many posts as I do, obviously the same can be said about wrestling. I also like to make weird oddball comparisons between things that don't make sense at all. "This chocolate reminds me of Christmas. That Dog looks like a Lamp." Etc. (I get it, I'm crazy. But this is gonna be cool, I swear). So the obvious thing to do was create the If Wrestlers were Cheeses What Cheeses Would They Be Thread. You might have clicked on this thinking "haha, cool, Ric Flair is c…

  18. Basically, if you donate $25 or more to the Hispanic Foundation's UNIDO Disaster Relief Fund I will draw you a wrestler with a notable run in Puerto Rico. Every drawing will be 9x12, with a color scheme of black, white, and one other color of your choice. Okay, so here’s what to do: 1.) Donate $25 or more to The Hispanic Federation 2.) Email me a copy of the receipt. My email is TheAnthonyStock at gmail dot com 3.) In the email, tell me what wrestler you want and what color you want. Sorry, just one color. I may end up having to make a lot of these. 4.) Remember to tell me your address. Where am I sending this drawing? 5.) Wait for the drawing to arrive. It m…

One of my favorite pop culture writers is Chuck Klosterman. In one of his best pieces, he writes at length about how important it is to have a nemesis and an archenemy - and goes on to explain how these two people are not the same. Full text here Basically, your nemesis is a bit like your rival - you are constantly in competition with this person and want to beat them, but you harbor begrudging respect for them, maybe even secretly appreciate them. Your archenemy is someone you loathe. According to Klosterman, Larry Bird's nemesis was Magic Johnson. They were the leaders of their respective teams at a time when their teams were competing to be the best team in th…

I hate him. I know its all an act just for show but I want to punch him in the face so badly. Despite hating him I can never change the channel when he's on TV for fear of missing what batshit crazy thing comes out of his mouth next. And the hate I have for him get's transferred to his son who is otherwise devoid of personality and would never be able to draw this nuclear level of heat on his own.

Often times watching sports I have the thought "wow that dude could be a huge a draw in pro wrestling". I was wondering if anybody ever has that thought. Has anybody seen somebody with such personality and a unique look and thought that. Does anybody else watch college hoops and see Przemek Karnowski and think he could be the next Andre. Or watch the Olympics and see Mijain Lopez and think wow he could be a great monster heel.
