I thought this was a great way to open up the show. Tito has always been a reliable worker and Shawn is starting to come into his own. Michaels, having turned on his tag partner at the start of the year, is now paired with Sherri Martel. He has taken to his new heel character like a fish to water. This has a slow start, with headlocks and a fair bit of stalling, but they kept it entertaining. Tito even manages to get a few convincing nearfalls by pinning Shawn when he's locked in Tito's headlock. Shawn's bumping might be over the top and cartoony for any other wrestling promotion, but it works well for the product WWF were putting out in 1992. I particularity love his bum…

Fun to see Jumbo in a bully role and the fans firmly behind Fuchi in their only singles match. There's a nice little build to the backdrop but as Fuchi continues to counter the attempts with submissions, working him on the mat. I like when Fuchi keeps grabbing Jumbo's arm to prevent him from using a rope break. For awhile, Jumbo wears down Fuchi with abdominal stretches and sleeper holds. When Jumbo finally hits the backdrop, he can't immediately capitalize and Fuchi kicks out at two. But Jumbo hits a second one and that's all she wrote. Great selling from both men, a fun build, but a simple and safe tournament match.

Master Blaster??? Yep, we're going there. I'll give credit to Blaster/Greene: he's not a very good wrestler but he does well enough here as the stocky heavyweight with clear limitations mostly hidden behind his muscle. What really matters with this one is how they work the match itself. The two push their advantages well: Blaster is the cocky big guy who can easily throw his weight around while Ogawa can only get in little quick bits here and there before he's run over. With the focus on a fairly limited power-wrestler, one would think that the crowd wouldn't care much about this at all....but that's exactly the opposite! Ogawa's work on the defensive with his s…

Just two weeks after his failed title challenge Fiera found himself in another one on one. He cut a promo about continuing Blue Panther's mission of ridding Mexico of its foreigners while flocked by some giddy rudo fans, and then he spent the first fall putting on a rudo masterpiece. He kicked Black Magic's ass all over the ring and treated him like the newcomer he was, and made rudo referee Gato Montini his half-witting accomplice. The clothesline with the chain was pure brilliance, and as a token of appreciation he clapped right in Montini's face afterward, just to let the ref know how much of a sucker he'd been. Everything in the ring was under Fiera's control. After t…

SWS style tag with Fujiwara thrown in the mix. So you have tubby juniors exchanging brutal spin kicks and lariats at a fast pace and Fujiwara throwing in some lightning fast counters and hitting the mat. The 3 young guys are really good and Fujiwaras presence adds just what this kind of undercard match needs. Ishinriki is a former sumo who works like a junior and junior who used to be a sumo is much better than junior who used to be a gymnast. He hits some big dive and also nice palm rushes and lariats. Kitahara and Nakano look good hitting the mat with Fujiwara. Highlights include Fujiwara hitting a huge Bas Rutten style body punch for a near KO aswell as trading some br…
