Eddie Guerrero vs Dean Malenko - WCW Nitro 10/2/95 The Eddie/Malenko/Benoit trio finally make their debut on Nitro. True to form, WCW cuts to the back to see Hogan arriving and telling Jimmy Hart he is going Giant hunting. lol after all the lip service Bischoff was paying to these two as being the best, you knew he knew where his bread was buttered. Their hyper-condensed touring match. Lots of symmetry. Lots of exhibition style chain wrestling. Malenko gets a nice dropkick. Eddie hits that awesome chest puffed out splash he does to the outside. Drills him with a brainbuster but eats knees on the frog splash. They battle over some pinning predicaments and Eddie kneels…

Randy Savage vs Lex Luger - WCW Nitro 10/2/95 I knew there was one really good Savage/Luger match in this timeframe and this is it! This is the match they should have had at Halloween Havoc or WWIII. The intensity was off the charts. The way they battled over the lock-up, the vertical suplex on the floor or the backslide. So much struggle. Both men wanted it. The chippiness with the slaps and shoves. Savage is always fired up but Luger was bringing it too. Luger’s Military Press in Savage was really impressive. The brawling on the outside both times was awesome. How they worked that vertical suplex into a reverse neck breaker was so good. The railing and post shots w…

Ric Flair vs Arn Anderson - WCW Nitro 10/2/95 Terrific episode of Nitro, I'd say the best since the show's inception. A really hot, strong opener between Savage and Luger, fun new age workrate match between Eddie and Malenko and the excellent Hogan/Dungeon angle where Sullivan dressed as an old lady throws powder in Hogan's eyes, canes him and shaves off his Fu-Manchu. Then to top it all off you get two of the best of all time kicking ass in the ring. Like all Nitro matches, this is a hyper compressed form of the Fall Brawl match. Flair cant seem to decide if he wants to work the match as a babyface or as a heel as tendencies of both sides of Flair slip into this mat…

Matt sent me this as part of the match trade. Match opens up with Fuerza Guerrera and Solar trading overly cooperative lucha style matwork and I instantly hate it. But I push through. Then midway through the second fall all hell breaks loose and this match suddenly peaks my interest. Doink viciously boots Rey Sr in the face ala Inoki vs Great Antonio and its on. Rudo Doink is a sight to behold as he stomps the life out of Solar. The match spills to the outside with all 6 guys brawling all over the place and Borne bumping like a mad man. There is some of blood in this, not an excessive amount, just the amount you would expect from Tijuana. The third fall descends into …

An exciting match-up on paper but disappointing upon viewing. There wasn't much heat between these two, which is shame, because Nakano is known to piss off plenty of people. A lot of slow struggle spots with a few occasional spats from Nakano or hacking chops from Hashimoto. It heats up a little at the end as Nakano's able to take Hashimoto over with a German suplex and starts in with the kicks. Really loved the failed double leg takedown attempt into the DDT by Hashimoto to set up his finishing run.

Ric Flair vs Arn Anderson - WCW 10/9/95 Steel Cage Match Best match in Nitro history thus far, all three contenders have Flair in them, go figure. #GOAT. The electricity from Flair from bell to bell is off the hook. This pumped me up. The way he was balling his fist up and just letting it fly. This was babyface Flair at his best just kicking ass and taking names. Of course Arn is the best at bumping and stooging for him. I love when Flair is just throwing fists and chops with reckless abandon and then celebrates afterwards. How can you have a bad time watching this. Arn still gets plenty of offense in using the steel cage and a spine buster. Flair is back at it with …

WCW United States Champion Sting vs Shark - WCW Nitro 10/9/95 I loved how short & sweet this was. Shark attacks at the bell hits a sick powerslam and a leg drop. He misses a charge. Two Stinger Splashes and a Stinger Crossbody win it. Loved it! Even though there was a Sabu match after this, I’ll write about this here. Sting wants to a hold a peace summit with Macho Man and Total Package. Macho Man accuses him of being DOD 4 Life and their back n forth. Sting’s grand plan is if Savage and Luger each win their matches at Halloween Havoc they get to face each other. That’s fucking stupid. Luger rightfully calls it dumb as shit. Stinger calls out his manhood and…
