  1. A Fuerza title match is a real treasure. There aren't that many of them in circulation and it's not necessarily the best setting for him (not to say he won't be great in it), but every time I come across a new one I feel like I need to see it (I say new one, but this has apparently been on youtube for over two years). For a title match it didn't have much in the way of matwork. To be honest, it didn't really have any. It was more of an "anything you can do"/"top this" affair with a primera built around throws rather than holds. Fuerza was even more of a goof than usual, maybe to the point of being too much for some, but I can't say I didn't get a kick out of it all. I'll …

  2. JIP. Only 5 minutes are shown, but there is some awesome shit here. Dean does all sorts of athletic moves. This Dean still has that boyish body, but facially looks the same as Dean always does. Dean is really exaggerated here, flippin' and playing to the crowd. When he goes to the top rope, he poses to pose, then pauses to pose AGAIN, the takes a breath before climbing... he may aswell be carrying a sign that says „I am going to get military pressed off the rope“. The match is a junior's match for sure but they go for pin combos and submissions rather than impact stuff, which I like a lot. Then it really looks like there's no way Fuchi can turn it around and then he pulls…

  3. WCW US Champion Lex Luger vs Sid Vicious - WCW 3/2/91 Unfortunately I watched this match two days ago but only have the time to do the review now. C’est la vie of a married man. Thank you to Elliot for the hookup. Since the Sting match at Halloween Havoc, Sid has had one competitive singles match against Rick Steiner which Id love to track down. It is amazing how few reps he gets on TV. The angle is very interesting. This is taped in advance of Wargames with the infamous Powerbombs to Pillman bashing his skull against the cage ceiling and the brutal landings on the shoulder. Yet even though it is taped before that he is already doing a gimmick where he sends job…

  5. The first Slinger match that I know of that received some modest hype. I'm not sure if the consensus on Slinger was that he sucked or that simply nobody paid attention. Anyways this was an unexpectedly intense scrap with some gnarly submissions. I wonder if AJPW did sudden finishes on houseshows a lot at this time because the crowd really bites on the holds (granted these guys were really stretching eachother to the max). Add a constant feeling of struggle and both guys being willing to kick the shit out of each other and you have an enjoyable match in the vein of a stiff undercard fight. There was an awesome backslide spot too that was one of the better "wrestling" spots…

  6. I think this is definitely worth watching as it is one of the most FUN trios matches I've ever seen. El Dandy & Satanico bring the fire against each other, Rayo does his usual thing & Kamala in Mexico is so freaking cool. He does so many things you'd never see him do anywhere else like disingenuous handshake attempts, bouncing around the ring in a boxer's stance, mocking his opponent's usual taunt, actually understanding tag rules. If you don't have fun watching this match then I don't know what to tell you.
