Borderline excellent character driven tag. This matchup really tells the story by itself, but I give them credit for going the extra mile and really emphasizing the dynamic constantly. You had Fukuoka, the non descript little mouse teaming with the juggernaut that is Devil Masami. So Yamazaki & Cuty are basically pushing Fukuoka, but when Masami comes in she dominates. Yamazaki & Cuty trying to outwrestle Devil and bouncing off of her is all kinds of fun (including Yamazaki hitting maybe the most logical sunset flip in history on Devil) and because Fukuoka is dependant on her partner to survive you get that constant intensity and nifty help spots. Yamazaki really …

Man, I maybe be insane but 1990-1992 Bull rules so hard compared to what she was doing later. This was Bull as wall of doom who will squash you like a bug. Hasegawa and Bat are the weak links, altough Bat will kick you really hard in the face for a weak link. I continue to love incubatory Hokuto as everytime she's in it looks like a fight to the death. Actually it also looks like a fight to the death when Hasegawa is in because she takes the most god awful beating in this. Horrid horrid horrid. Hasegawa has almost no offense compared to karate Bat and Bull, so she takes her basic junior's spin kick and turns it into a death move. I mean she does this by straight up spin k…

Shinya Hashimoto vs Randy Thurton - NJPW 5/31/91 Different Style Fight Shinya Hashimoto path to redemption begins here. He has not wrestled since being KO's by the Finnish bruiser, Tony Halme back in February. I think it was smart to have his first match back be against a new opponent in a Different Style Fight. He gets to regain some credibility en route to beating Halme later in the year. Thurton is a black American kickboxer. I'm surprised he didn't go places. Tall, good looking, in good shape and good presence. Clocking in at ~5 minutes great spring. Tons of energy. Thurton threw some good kicks and wailed on Hashimoto with punches. He bloodied him pretty good…

Damn, I didn't expect to like this so much. Any Fujinami big match is guaranteed to have a ton of wrestling, and there was a lot of that here, but there was also a ton of disdain right from the opening which has Chono spitting Fujinami in the face. Chono is far from a great matworker, but he was game here, busting out an awesome calf slicer and a flying clothesline that was like something Necro Butcher would do. He also wasn't afraid to get into stiff slap battles and I liked his headbutts and mafia kicks he would use to combat Fujinami's mat prowess. Fujinami on his side had one of the most brutal dropkicks I've ever seen and an epic dive. This was a very typical NJPW st…
