The XWF: Part One What if I told you in late 2001 there was a wrestling promotion backed by Shark Tank investor Kevin Harrington that could have very well challenged the WWE and brought back competition to the business? With a roster that included the likes of Hulk Hogan, Curt Hennig, Road Warriors and a young AJ Styles, the company was built for success both short and long term. However, Vince McMahon must have sensed competition and snatched up the major talents. I'm taking a look at the company and their three pilot episodes that were used to pitch to various networks. https://wrestlingrecaps.com/2017/07/02/the-xwf-part-one/

We are back with another episode of the podcast that shows new stuff to old fans and old stuff to new fans. This time it is a visit to the island of Puerto Rico. We see such stars as Carlos Colon, Abdullah the Butcher, Stan Hansen, the Invaders, Chicky Starr, TNT and many more. Then it's off to New Japan's 2016 Wrestle Kingdom Rumble where Rob says "who is that guy" more often than Art Donavan asks about guys weight! Feedback and thoughts always welcome and a special thanks to PWO member El Boricua! Also my apologies in advance for calling Invader 3 vs. Chicky Starr a mid-card feud. You can hear me visibly wince at my own screw up and fail to fix it on the podca…

I just wanted to post a link to my show. This is about tabletop wrestling game and video game booking sims. I usually do a 10-15 minute show unless I have a guest on. My biggest focus is Filsinger Games products, 80s Mania Wrestling, GoFightPow and probably TEW16 when it hits. I'm planning to review other games like Face to the Mat when I get enough time with the system. I have had Tom Filsinger on to talk about the original set of Champions of the Galaxy and as I do have some other game creators lined up to be guests in the future. https://soundcloud.com/pit-podcast-134632092/sets/wrestling-with-dice This is also an open invitation to guys here. On top of that, Jim Cornette is fired by WWE for slapping the future Santino Marella, the Summer of Punk rolls on in ROH, Kenta Kobashi vs. Samoa Joe is officially announced, Gene Snitsky teams with the Kings of Wrestling against Jimmy Snuka (and admires Lita’s feet), “Hogan Knows Best” debuts, WWE cuts a bunch of wrestlers including two married coupl…

Not sure why I hadn't started this yet since I've been their wrestling columnist for a couple months, but with my Frank Deford article going up today, now is as good a time as any: How Frank Deford Helped Pro Wrestling Journalism Become Very Real. For everything I've done there, my Kinja author page is the place to go (Kinja is the content management system used across all of Gizmodo Media Group). Because I'm a freelancer and not staff, I have a separate commenter account (because there needs to be an account that can post articles the site but I can't use that one). My favorites so far (in addition to the Deford article) are probably: My discovery via FOIA th…

Celebrate the 4th of July as it should be done, with the Living Legend Bruno Sammartino. Our podcast takes a look at Bruno's legendary feud with his protege Larry Zbyszko. So many topics are covered I could not possibly mention them all but Dave and Nick fall in love with the serious, realistic nature of this feud and its' promos. The matches, other than the first, don't get as much love and I blame myself as we really go off into so many related topics. I still think this is a very fun if somewhat irreverent listen to one of the greatest feuds of all time. We also cover the first Sasha Banks-Bailey NXT PPV match as well. A special thanks to all of the Titans of Wrest…

Kris and David are joined by the returning Emil Jay (Dojo Wars) to talk about the week that was June 21-27, 1995. Plus, we also memorialize our friend, Chris Bryan/Chandler Biggins, and both the beginning and end of the show.
