Since I've been back on a pro wrestling podcast kick, I wanted to be sure to sprinkle a little love on the ones I've only recently discovered and started to binge. I've showered some love on Briscoe & Bradshaw. Then I gushed a bit over the surprisingly strong Matt Hardy show. And now I'm here to post about another I'm currently digging, and it's just Dr. Tom doing the best possible version of Something To Wrestle. Sure. He's not as bombastic as Bruce and doesn't hold the key to the kingdom in terms of giving us a peek into Vince's way of thinking or anything. But I love it. Tom is more reserved as a personality for sure, but there's such rich insight and still a …

I Love Pro Wrestling. Pro wrestling has not always been good to me and I have not always been good to pro wrestling. But Love is not about being perfect to each other all the time. It is about caring unconditionally about the welfare of one another and putting the other first. I love Pro Wrestling in spite of its flaws because it can be the most beautiful form of human storytelling. So this is my ongoing tribute to the greatest art form on Earth and to the men & woman who have entertained me and millions of other worldwide for over a century now. This is Pro Wrestling Love. Greatest Match Ever Project is being hosted at http://gweproject.freeforums.net/ I h…

Hi there everyone, I am planning to do a recap for Can Chris Hero Save Wrestling? every week. This is for the first episode, which you can find here. Hero opens the show by talking about how he loves pro wrestling, that he has since being 9 years old and he's 41 years old now. Conrad asks what's been going on in the past year with Hero. Conrad mentions Hero starting last year as a player/coach in NXT and NXT UK, and asks who came to him with the idea of that role. Hero starts talking about Matt Bloom being the head coach when he returned to NXT in January 2017, and being in Terry Taylor's class, and talking about the tiers at the performance center. You have Sha…

A quick introduction: Some of you know me more over the past 13-14 years as “Supersonic” throughout various message boards. During that time eight years ago, having grown frustrated with Jim Cornette’s direction with Ring of Honor under the ownership of Sinclair Broadcast Group, I went back to ROH’s birth and chronicled “The Good Shit” on message boards, spending 5.5 years reviewing roughly the same amount of years for ROH and other promotions, concluding with Man Up. With over 2.5 years of not reviewing anything since, I now feel recharged and will once again go back in time during this pandemic. But this time, it’s different; no longer am I cherry-picking just…

It's the 44th episode of Wrestling with a Generation Gap as we go to the 1990's to cover one of the last great regional territories, Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Dave, Nick and Rob take a look at SMW's most famous card, the Night of the Legends. Along the way we cover the rise and fall of this legendary promotion and one historic night in Knoxville as well as provide detailed bios for The Mongolian Stomper, The Doctor of Desire Tom Pritchard and the legend himself Ricky Gibson. Along the way we discuss Chris Candido's career moves (always bad or not), a legends match between legends only recently retired that's really good, the sad decline of Terry Gordy, Chris Jericho near…

Hey everyone. I don't post here anymore, and barely did in the first place, but a fellow lapsed poster and I have recently begun our podcast. Wrestling Is Gross is a show about deathmatches, matches that are deathmatch adjacent, and just generally any wrestling that seems smelly or disgusting. We did an episode on 2003 CZW. We did an episode showcasing chain, dog collar and strap matches. Our latest episode covers a few choice Ian Rotten matches, including some of the fabled Methlab Battlarts matches. We are looking to provide a unique voice in a genre of podcasting where everyone sounds largely the same, both literally and figuratively. We want to provide a per…

SCG Radio returns this week to talk April to June of 1991 in the World Wrestling Federation! This week, we're walking through everything in the undercard, from Jake Roberts' snake getting squashed and killed by Earthquake, the failed return of Andre The Giant, Bobby Heenan's managing career ends, the often-forgotten Virgilina angle (!), The Mountie and Big Bossman cross paths, IRS debuts, and the tag team scene goes to hell in a handbasket. On top of that, we discuss the first WBF pay-per-view, as well as detail the trial of Dr. George Zahorian on drug trafficking charges, including to WWF wrestlers, one of which was none other than Hulk Hogan. All the facts, figures and …

SCG Radio returns to look at April to June 1991 in the WWF! In the first part of our look at the quarter, we break down the top feuds in the promotion to look at the tale it tells - Hulk Hogan Vs. Sgt. Slaughter goes up against Ultimate Warrior Vs. Undertaker at the houses, and the results were striking. We talk about the major angles of the period in the main event scene, the WWF loses its deal with NBC, Warrior gets press for being a gay prostitute (allegedly!), and in perhaps the biggest story of the quarter, WCW's Sid Vicious hands in his notice and sets sail for TITAN in hilarious fashion! All the facts, figures and analysis you love, check it out and let us know wha…

SCG Radio returns this week for the second part of our series covering the WWF in 1991! Today, Liam O'Rourke and Kyle Ross look at WrestleMania 7, all the highs and lows of the show, notes on the success or failure of the event (spoiler: it was a failure), moves Vince McMahon made between January and March in the bodybuilding world, a notable doctor gets indicted, and we talk all about the undercard scene for the first three months of the year, all with notes, facts and figures from the Wrestling Observer newsletters of the period. A ton of fun, check it out and let us know what you think! https://mcdn.podbean.com/mf/web/dmatud/SCG_Radio_161_-_The_WWF_In_1991_Part_1B…

So yeah, I had this nagging idea in the back of my mind to try this a few months ago. A WCW rewatch podcast that focused on TV matches (while not ignoring the bigger events obviously, but how many podcasts are out there watching fuckin' Power Hour?) I found a cohost, another friend recommended a nice pun of a name, and we are in business. Originally the thought was starting at the NWA/WCW '91 split, but considering that just cuts out one weekend of 1991, we decided to just start at the new year... which meant a lot of Starrcade '90 flashbacks. The podcast's site can be found here: https://podcastle.podiant.co/ with our first episode being found: https://pod…

SCG Radio returns this week with the first episode of a mini-series covering 1991 in the WWF! In this first part, I'm joined by Kyle Ross to discuss the absolute disaster that was the Sgt. Slaughter push, leading to and through the Royal Rumble, the shocking decision to put the World Title on him, and the feud with Hulk Hogan. Discussing all the media fallout, the promos, the presentation of the angle as well as backstage notes on feelings behind-the-scenes, the show breaks down Vince McMahon's terrible decision to exploit the Persian Gulf War so shamelessly. Check it out and let us know your thoughts - I'm especially interested in people's memories on the Slaughter angle…
