So I LOVE Koji Kanemoto. Once I've said that, he wouldn't come close to sniffing a top 200 pro wrestlers list. As an explanation: This is a clipped match. We come in with Koji slamming Takaiwa down and doing his second turnbuckle tumbleweed and missing. Selling is not his strong point. He pops back up and does it again. Misses again. Didn't hurt a second time. Works to two of them (because I guess since he missed two before, he needs to hit two). Then misses a top turnbuckle version. That one he gets up fast, but Takaiwa has had enough. He gets in some offense, then Koji goes to the moonsault, because that has won him so many matches and high flying…

18 minute match clipped down to 10, making this a sprint. Ikeda and Ishikawa start the match with a crazy headbutt exchange and they are just fighting like feral animals. Oh boy the sheer CONTEMPT Ishikawa has for Ikeda. Usuda and Tanaka blast eachother with kicks to the face. Tanaka, for once, was pretty tight here. It never ceases to fascinate me how these guys would go to any japanese town hall and proceed to kill eachother night in night out. EDIT: It's of course Ikeda teaming up with Katsumi Usuda.

Steve Austin/Ken Shamrock/Goldust/Hawk/Animal v Bret Hart/Owen Hart/Davey Boy Smith/Brian Pillman/Jim Neidhart (WWF Canadian Stampede 06/97) This is of course, a molten hot brawl with the crowd going totally wild for the Foundation. It isn't Rock/Hogan level reaction, but it's getting there, and takes a match that would have been merely decent, into something memorable. There's hate, lots of different storylines played out, wall to wall action and Brian fucking Pillman. It's awesome. The problem with this match though, is that it also has a lot of sub-standard workers. The match is great when Owen, Bret, Pillman, Davey, Austin or Shamrock are in together, and Goldust …

This almost seems like something of a hidden gem. A five or so minute match, which is seemingly there just to give Lawler an excuse to tell Polish jokes abouty Ivan Putski, and it's almost shockingly engaging. Shelley shows some good mat skills, and Brian take a couple of overdone bumps, to let him look good in Canada. But, when Brian takes over, Shelley sells like Brian is damn near killing him. There are at least two spots that would have made great finishes, thanks to Shelley's selling. The full nelson facebuster, and a bit later after Shelley splats on his dive. The missed dive is the beginning of the end anyway, because he looks like he's out of it, and it doesn't ta…

I dont know where you want to put this. This is the tag match from Orgy of Violence where PG-13 wins and Jason returns. This is not the one that made the Yearbook. This was aired on ECW Hardcore TV on 7/8 but it takes place on 6/28. I dont know if you are doing match date or air date for ECW. PG-13 vs Mikey Whipwreck & Spike Dudley - ECW Orgy of Violence 6/28/97 Unfortunately, this is clipped on ECW Hardcore TV. I need to track down the full version because this was a blast. I think I have a new favorite spot in wrestling. JC Ice thrusts his hips into Mikey's face saying "Mikey likes it, Mikey like it, Mikey really likes it" only for Mikey to grab him by th…

WCW Crusierweight Champion Chris Jericho vs Ultimo Dragon - WCW Bash At The Beach 1997 Jericho certainly had a penchant for biting off more than he could chew in this time period. The dropkick while on the top rope could have been disastrous and the Super-Rana on Gedo was. Jericho was trying to make a name for himself and I respect that. Hell, WCW was putting him in a position to succeed his WAR buddies and people like Eddie Guerrero. I liked this match warts and all. There are a lot of warts in the form of blown spots, but this dripped with effort and was very competitive something that has been missing from previous Dragon matches. I really felt the competitive riva…
