Having recently signed up to the newly renamed TNA+ partly due to always having a liking for TNA and partly due to finding the fantastic Cross the Line TNA podcast in which they are reviewing all TNA shows starting from the very beginning. When ECW folded in April 2001 it left video distribution company RF Video in a tough spot. ECW was their best seller and its absence threatened to seriously decrease their income. Hey everybody I've been on an early 90s WCW kick and just watched SuperBrawl 91. Tatsumi Fujinami is a legend in Japan and him versus Ric Flair in Japan was a huge money maker. However I don't think a lot of fans in the states were to familiar with him. I know they had the pay per view in Japan that set the SuperBrawl main event up but I just don't think there was enough time to really build Fujinami up to the WCW fans. New Japan initially planned to hold it's annual New Japan Cup from March 4th to the 21st. Alas the pandemic struck and New Japan temporarily closed it's doors. After reopening, it held the tournament with an altered bracket as some talent couldn't return to Japan. I've played three different games on this site, I'm currently in Dawn of War, I was in the 1981 game before it shut down and I'm kinda in the Battle of the Ages but that one's mostly dead. In addition to the ones I've played personally, I've seen several other games set in various periods, 2019, 93, 95 and another in 83. Ok full disclosure. I only watched the pre-show not the actual ppv. But that said from what I've seen/read several questionable decisions were made in terms of booking. So as a year-end gift for you -and a challenge for me- I've taken up the challenge of seeing if I can book it better. Some rules I've set for myself. 1. Myself and @SirEdger are going to fine tune the 1981 project and looking for a 3rd and/or possibly 4th member to do some fantasy booking starting in the year 1981. I have already gone through and put together 3-15 man rosters from that time period for the WWF, AWA, and MACW. I'd be open to looking at a promotion like Georgia, Florida, Mid South, or World Class if someone was interested. You'd take the 15 people who are already in your crew and then draft out the rest of the roster to 40. Someone made the comment on reddit yesterday that they felt if Savage had the spot Hogan was given in 84, the WWF would be no less a success than what it became. I conceded that it was interesting but made the points that Hogan already had a rub from being in the Rocky movie, being a top face for Verne, as well as being familiar with the people in the WWF from his earlier time there. Not sure if this was a rumor or not, but apparently the original plans for WM4 were for Dibiase to win the title, while Savage would have beaten Honky for the IC title on the Main Event Special where Andre beat Hogan and sold the title to Dibiase. However, Honky threatened to jump to Crockett with the IC belt, so they changed it so that Savage wins the title. What if Honky had no issues with dropping the IC title, and they went with the original plans?
