KIMERA Following the dissolution of the Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF), Akira Maeda decided to build a new promotion dedicated to pure shoot-style wrestling; however, before this could happen, he was approached by Yoshiaki Fujiwara and Bob Backlund to create something unique that would truly alter the landscape of professional wrestling in Japan. Thus, KIMERA was born, a promotion which fused traditional pro-wrestling, catch-as-catch-can, and the pure shoot-style that Maeda intended to adopt. Maeda, Fujiwara and Backlund, the founders and co-owners of KIMERA, devised three distinct sets of rules which would govern the wrestling matches: Strong, Catch, and Hybrid…

Here's a big one to ponder. A condition of JCP selling to Turner was that Flair would be around. Flair came close to signing with the WWF during this time, which would have changed wrestling history in many ways. Just a few things to ponder among many: - Would the WWF have ended up with a monopoly as early as 1988? How does wrestling history change if WCW never exists? - Would JCP have been able to sell off to TBS at all, possibly at lesser value? All of these questions assume there is a monopoly at this point: - What are the big money matches and just how big money are they? Hogan-Flair, Savage-Flair, Hogan-Savage vs Sting-Luger, Hogan-Luger, Warrior-Sting, War…

(Well, I know this was supposed to be done ages ago, but between work, real world shit, and just plain forgetting about it, I never did it. I actually came across the paper I was using to keep track of my draft picks today at work, so I figured I would get at least a bare bones outline of what my plan was up on the board.) -Match 1- Chris Von Erich vs "From Outta Town" Snake Brown A quick opener against a scrub to give the youngest Von Erich a win in Texas Stadium and start the crowd off happy! -Match 2- The Killer Bee's (Brian Blair/Jim Brunzell) vs The Texas Hangmen (Psycho/Killer) The Bee's pull out the masked confusion gimmick to counter the Hangm…

Gli-San Puroresu Kayfabe-breaking introduction: My favourite style of wrestling is late-80s to mid-90s Kings Road style: Jumbo, Tenryu, Misawa, Kawada stiff, violent, manly, heavy on in-ring story-telling and long-term character development The best time I have ever had as a wrestling fan was the period from 2009 through 2014, from when I first got settled here in Japan until the sad day when my beloved local indy, Osaka Pro Wrestling, ceased to operate as a regular promotion. On the surface, Osaka Pro could not be much different from peak-years AJPW. With an emphasis on entertainment, high-flying action, variety, comedy, and nostalgia Osaka Pro drew a small but l…

Dragon Gate of Kobe (Hyogo, Kansai) Japan is one of the more interesting promotions in Japan of today. Slowly but surely were able to make themselves the second top promotion in Japan, currently selling out the Korakuen Hall Shows and all of the top arenas besides the Sumo Hall and Tokyo Dome. But it wasn't always that glorious. There were truly periods in time of Dragon Gate that wasn't all that peachy clean, Dragon Gate was known to reclaim their glory through the grand rivalry of Blood Warriors and Junction Three. But before that all it wasn't all that great, which you all will soon find out why. Dragon Gate a home of Units, Nearly everyone is in a Unit and there ca…

I'm using the Filsinger card game for this booking. Because of this, I have no control over who wins so keep that in mind as this promotion advances. I'm also going to try and be realistic to who I think would potentially work in CWF Mid-Atlantic. I'm not running this in real time or anything so you might see a flurry of shows over a short period of time and some droughts where I'm not posting anything. The format I'm probably going to do for the first few months is weekly TV with a monthly bigger event. The monthly events might get reduced down depending on how I feel.

Kayfabe-breaking Introduction I am a weirdo because One of the ways in which I am a weirdo is that being a fan of pro wrestling was my bridge into being a fan of amateur wrestling, judo, and the martial arts in general. Despite spending my childhood trapped in a world without cable or any local promotion to speak of, and exposed almost exclusively to the WWF except via Apter mag or VHS rental, I gravitated towards the technical wrestlers - Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart, Curt Hennig, etc. My first question when I understood wrestling was fake was "who tells Andre he has to lose?". My second was "what if it wasn't?". I live in Iowa. There are badass wrestlers all over the …

Volume 1 Prologue. It's the year 2329 and the Emperor of the Moon, Ralph, is faced with a huge dilemma. It's been 100 years since the war between Earth and the Moon ended with nuclear strikes that wiped the Earthlings off Earth entirely. The Moon has been very peaceful and prosperous ever since, citizens have called it an utopia. However, rumblings have started to grow. Slowly, yes, starting in New New York City, but they have started to spread all the way to the capital, Lunar Town. Emperor Ralph sat on the thrown in Lunar Town and ponders what exactly the issue is. Everybody has everything they need, money was abolished with the destruction of Earth, food is…

It is the spring of 1989. The Cold War has signifigantly thawed. Two years earlier Billy Joel had done a series of mega concerts exposing the Soviet people to Western music. Inoki had already ran a small show with a skelton crew in the USSR. This show featured NJPW mid carders against members of the Red Bull Army which was composed of Soviet amateur wrestlers and judokas who had been trained in pro wrestling by Inoki himself. But Inoki realizes its time for something bigger- a mega tour, stadium shows in several cities, with major stars, and world titles on the line. Each show will feature a major title defended in the main event. Inoki will also fight a series of Mixed …

Okay fellas here we go... Here are some simple rules to abide by 1988-1992 time frame. Pick an individual or team and put the year in which your are selecting them to give us an idea. No one can be picked twice obviously. We will not have a pool and go on the honor system. 35 rounds random snake order each set of two rounds. Added five more for announcers and managers. You don't need to use all 35 but it's there. Build you talent to have one major show in your chosen city. Talent from all over the world can be selected. Managers can be part of your pick Announcers and such can be part of your picks Tag teams must be tag teams or they'll be challenged and picks may …

So, I started up a WCW 2001 game in TEW 2016, and I actually booked enough interesting stuff that I'd thought I'd put it out there for you guys to read and comment on. The basic gist is Bischoff and friends actually bought WCW, it's now May and I have a two hour show on FX, along with the entire old WCW roster, aside from folks like Goldberg & Hogan. I'm starting out with Eric's idea of starting out in Las Vegas, but I'm going from there. One quick note is for some reason (I forget 2001), Booker starts with an injury, so yes, the World & US Title is vacant. Also, I came up with the idea of writing this all out before writing down all the exact times of angles…

Okay, so, I've been screwing around with some old fant-booking of a new promotion. In theory, it's for WGN what JCP/WCW was to TBS. Chicago-based promotion, hub and spoke around the Midwest, theoretically taking what was left of the AWA's territory. Trying to market in a more modern way (longer TV matches) but retain aspects that I like, and integrate in concepts of lucha and puro that can stand within an older style. At some point, for example, I want apuestas to be huge show-carrying matches. Just a general bet that fans will like some of the things that we have now. Talent: Anyone not signed by WCW/WWF, or at least being used by them. Cutting out every other second…

These What If threads are interesting, so here's one I came up with. What if after the Summerslam 97 piledriver incident, Austin was never cleared by the doctors and was pretty much forced to retire? What would happen then? I could see them hastily turning Bret babyface somehow (maybe the rest of the Hart Foundation become more of a gang, which causes Bret to decide to break ties with them (possibly leading to a Bret beatdown), and he can apologize for the whole anti-American stuff) and definitely not getting rid of him (maybe he lets Shawn go, but thats a topic someone else already did). I cant see the WWF overtaking WCW if that happens though, at best they'd be at the l…

Bill Watts was fired/resigned as Vice President of Wrestling Operations from WCW on February 10, 1993. Two days later Eric Bischoff was named Executive Producer of WCW and Ole Anderson was named Vice President of Wrestling Operations from WCW. That means Bischoff controlled TV and Ole the house shows, essentially. Now instead of those two, what happens if I time travel to the year of 1983 and use my power of hindsight to take the job? This thread will follow WCW from that point going forward. There will be a lot of questions to answer, especially about talent. Things like, can Austin become a star in WCW if treated well? Can WCW become big without Hogan (I'm …

So many possibilities here: Vince Russo was responsible for record high ratings during the Attitude Era. What if he never went to WCW but instead remained in the WWF? - Can he sustain those numbers? - Even if he can't, is he remembered in a much more favorable light? - What happens to WCW? Do they remain in business? (I always felt it was a very naive and simplistic view to blame Russo for everything when there were clearly other and much bigger problems and factors in play.) - Does TNA ever become a thing? (We already know Vince Russo came up with the name, so it would have at least been called something else.) - Does Chyna get a second chance in …

We all know that Hulk Hogan turned heel at Bash at the Beach 1996 and changed the course of history for WCW with the creation of the New World Order. But, for many years, we've been hearing stories about how Sting was first supposed to be the 3rd man but this was reportedly nixed before Eric Bischoff set his choice on Hulk Hogan. What would've been if Sting turned on WCW to join Hall & Nash? Would've Hogan lead the charge to fight the NWO? Would've Sting taken the title away from Randy Savage at Halloween Havoc? And would've this affected the incoming members later, like Ted Dibiase & Syxx, coming off from their WWF stints? And what about the l…
