Armchair Booking

Forum for fantasy booking.

  1. Started by milky wimpshake,

I watched the Bash '91 the other day for the first time since I rented it as a kid that year. Being fairly young, I didn't recognize it as being actively autrocious, but rather just boring. I was an enormous wrestling fan, and consumed any content I could get my eyes on, but WCW was my favorite, for all the same reasons that I've read others tell. This show was obviously a low point for the promotion, when it should have been a transformative show for the company. So, I had this fantasy booking concept bounce through my head for literally years, and I'm going to throw it out here and see how it looks in type. (Note-The only MAJOR bit of reality that I have taken l…

My friend and I were riffing on dream survivor series teams here's what we came up with United Nations (Swan Michaels, Mike Elgin, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Shinsuke Nakamura) vs Bullet Club (Prince Devitt, AJ Styles, Young Bucks, Kenny Omega) WWE Dream Team(Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, The Rock, Shelton Benjamin) vs Gaijin (Miricale Violence (Terry Gordy and Dr Death Steve Williams), Dynamite Kid, Vader, Stan Hansen) WCW (Sting, Booker T, Stevie Ray, DDP, Psycosis) vs Team Classic (Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard), Junkyard Dog, Tito Santana, Rick Martel) Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Jim Niedhart, Owen Hart, British Bulldog…

Aight so fantasy booking CMLL main event scene for the next two years ahead I have it something like this. Right now they have Caristico and Mistico tagging together. Sometime in the next month or two Caristico turns on Mistico, rips off his mask, beats the shit out of him. Cuts a promo saying its his mask and fuck the fake Mistico basically. Caristico is now a rudo. They begin the build towards Caristico vs Mistico Mask v Mask at the Anniversary Show. Rush and the rest of Los Ungobernables beat the shit out of Super Porky for no appearent reason other than because they can. Maximo makes the save. Begins build toward Rush vs Maximo hair v hair at the Anniversar…

    - WCW has the best roster on the planet - WCW has far bigger stars than WWF - Stone Cold Steve Austin doesn't get going with Hart - No screwjob, no Mr McMahon, no endless debates. - DX doesn't get the white heat they got. - No Bret heel turn, no great 1997 run, no WM13 classic. - Assumingly, Bret would have shown up as a face in WCW. Or would he have joined the nWo in the fall of 96? It's all very Sliding Doors, but I can't help but feel the wrestlign world would be a very different place right now, had Bret have made the jump in 1996... What do you think the immediate landscape would have been like, and what would have come of it?

So apparently wwe is looking for some non wrestling roles for the total divas star . Got some ideas for if they want to keep her involved in the product and some if they want to keep her to the network 1. Pair her with tye dillger , he a perfect ten , so is she 2. After a mask match they lose , los madadors is sad , she cheers them up and becomes there Vallet 3. Her an Natalia have a rookie vs vet respect angle that ends with natty messing her up in the ring , she gets revenge by brining bliss and Emma to kick her butt 4. They use some of three and she teams with cesero , pissing off Tyson who sends dudes after his former tag partner 5. She joins rose letting…

  6. I've been developing an idea which I think could bring wrestling back to the mainstream, like the "Rock n Wrestling" build-up or the Monday Night Wars. The only issue being that it doesn't really involve any WWE talent. Anyway, you book a celebrity actor who is known for working the general public and basically book them like Andy Kaufman in Memphis. Initially, I thought of Sasha Baron Cohen, since his "work" in Borat is the stuff of legends. He also has the acting chops to pull this off and get heel heat. A more current name would probably be Shia LeBeouf, who has generated more WTF moments for gossip sites than anyone. I'd say Cohen probably works better with his la…

edit: in keeping with tradition of fucking up my threadtitles, I meant to say Roberts instead of Savage in that subtitle. Oh well, you get the point, hah. I got this idea watching the old episode of Saturday Nights Main Event the other day where Roberts goes to hit Liz with the chair after his match with Savage. Lets say he hit her, setting up a Wrestlemania match with Savage instead of going on to feud with Taker? For continuity's sake lets say Taker still turns face at this show, but instead helps Hogan when Sid walks out on him during the tag match, much to the frustration of Flair I guess. Taker and Sid can battle to the back and set up a Wrestlemania VIII …

  8. Started by Loss,

I've always wanted to give this a try, so might as well use this thread for that. I want to start with the Nitro the night after Spring Stampede '99 for a few reasons: - I think the heel/face positioning is overall pretty decent around this time, with a couple of glaring exceptions - I think I might be able to convince some of the midcarders not to jump to the WWF - It's the closest to a full roster WCW really was in the down years (Only missing Scott Hall and Lex Luger in terms of the top guys. Hogan was out for a few months with a knee injury) - I can avoid the absolutely horrid summer of main events in this promotion Nitro Thunder Saturday Night W…

While Parv is in control of the WWF on Earth-Z, over here on Earth 616 I have decided to take over World Class Championship Wrestling! I'm not as fancy with pictures, but I will try to insert them when appropriate. To set some things up, the biggest promotions in America are 1) AWA 2) WWF 3) WCCW, so I have some work to do. However, I do have a strong feud with the Von Erichs and The Freebirds. That's some good talent to build upon. Here is the roster that I will run under the ownership of Fritz Von Erich: Faces: Bruiser Brody David Von Erich Kerry Von Erich Kevin Von Erich Al Madril Chris Adams Tola Yatsu Brian Adias Heels: Michael Hayes The…

  11. So. Fantasy booking is fun right? Right. So here we go. First off, some rules are in order. I’m going to be working from the WrestleMania card to start and not making any last minute changes. I’m also going to use real WWE as a barometer for who I can and cannot use. So if someone gets injured in the real, I will have to deal with that injury as well. I also am beholden to the WWE/NXT roster as it actually exists so when Brock Lesnar goes, he goes. Since he didn’t go, he stays. I also won’t add Nakamura to the roster unless that actually happens because otherwise the roster would become unrecognizable in about a week. This inserts constraints to the fantasy…

  12. In what has to be considered incredibly shocking news, WWE announced at a press conference in Los Angeles today a major rebranding of WWE Studios as "WWE Hollywood", shifting it's focus from the producing and distribution of feature film properties, to the production and distribution of a weekly professional wrestling show to be filmed on the studio lot. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon explained that WWE Hollywood would distinguish itself from WWE's main brand and it's developmental branch NXT by focusing on a roster of celebrities from outside the world of wrestling. "For years, WWE has been synonymous with the same kind of glitz and glamour and excitement and act…

OK, after watching a LOT of 1984 TV building to Starrcade, this is what mine would have been had Dusty not put himself ALL over it.. and won the Tag Titles then didnt defend them at the show could he put himself in a needless, heatless match for million dollars that meant nothing vs. Flair, who had to be turned heel all the sudden after being face the whole year...then gave us a bullshit finish to the biggest show of the year. Flair (NWA Champ) vs. Tully (TV Champ) - NWA title vs. $10,000 - Tully had been on that 10,000 thing for MONTHS, and it would have made more sense and we could have had an actual finish to the Starrcade Main event with them feuding for the previous…

  14. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/andrew-lutzke-books-hulk-hogan-turns-heel-in-1993/ A look at how different the wrestling world would have looked had Hulk Hogan gone rogue in 1993 and turned his back on the Hulkamaniacs while still in the WWF. How does Hogan handle The Kliq? The rise of DX and Steve Austin as anti-heroes? Celebrities coming in to mingle with the superstars? WCW's talent raids? Can he and Macho Man settle things once and for all? Where does Bret Hart, Lex Luger and Yokozuna fit in all this? All those answers and more within!

  15. Ok so I decided to take a fun concept that they do on Place to Be Nation and bring it to PWO. It's called the Monthly All Time SuperCard. The way it works is you go through and pick one match from any WWE PPV that happened that month for every year there was a PPV that month. The Rules are: You can only use one person once unless they have a major character change ie Isaac Yankem & Kane. Something like Hulk Hogan & Hollywood Hogan would not count. The following championships MUST be on the line for every card (WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, Intercontinental Championship, & World Tag Team Championship (when they are split into two sep…

It doesn't get much stupider than what WWE puts on the air every Monday night these days, but let's try and get even stupider in this thread. Your task is to book the stupidest 3-hour Monday Night Raw ever. Here are the guidelines. Book the show in 15-minute segments (it's ok for matches or angles to occupy more than one segment) A wrestler can only wrestle once. He/she can appear in multiple interviews or angles if it makes sense Everybody and everything from the entire history of wrestling is free for use. Don't limit yourself only to past Raw segments. For example, go ahead and open the show w/ the scaffold match from GAB '91, then follow it up with Ric Flair …

This is what is happening. I am going to try to do this from now until at least WrestleMania 31. The concept is, after this week of TV I take over the WWE's booking. Full control to do whatever I want (with the current talent, not bringing in others, so somewhat realistic?). I will put up Raw, Main Event & Smackdown before Raw airs every week. I am currently working on week one and it will be up by 8 PM Monday. This is just a hype first post. If you are in for shitty fantasy booking and an alternate WWE, get excited.

Off the rebooking Wrestlemania thread, thought I'd throw up an overall Re-booking thread where you take a show that you wish was rebooked and, well, RE-BOOK it!!! First up for me...1995 King Of The Ring. A terrible show in a really bad year for WWF that could have been an REALLY good show with a lot of guys in their prime... This tournament could have had Owen / Davey / HBK / Taker / Razor / Yoko / Two others. I would have done it like this.. Quarterfinals Owen vs. Davey - Go 14:55 and have Owen win Razor vs. Roadie - IC title feud continues. They didnt have an actual title match anyway..Razor wins to get a little revenge on Roadie constantly fucking with Raz…

Part of me seriously wishes that they ran Winner of Hogan v Slaughter v Winner of Warrior v Savage as the real main event of WMVII. I think the innate promise of Warrior vs Hogan II would have helped to sell tickets and that card could easily lose the horrible Bravo vs Texas Tornado match and probably a few others. On some level it bugged me that Slaughter promised Savage a title shot and the poor bastard never got it.

  22. Started by MikeCampbell,

Everyone seems sure, for good reasons, that it's going to be Ryback. I'd say use the PPV kick off show, to show an angle of Ryback getting jumped by Harper and carted off in an ambulance. This takes Ryback out of the match and sets up a program with Harper. Team Cena comes down and Cena gets on the mic, and says that the Authority took Ryback out. But, if they think that the match is going to be 5-on-4, "I'M AFRAID I'VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS!" and the returning Bad News Barrett is the fifth member. It gives Barrett a big return, and also can play off the fact that HHH was seemingly a huge supporter of him before he got hurt. And the announcers can talk about the history o…

The fall of 2005 was an interesting time in the WWE. In the months after SummerSlam 2005, the Rey Mysterio/Eddie Guerrero paternity angle was long over, Hulk Hogan and Chris Jericho left the company, and Batista and John Cena's ascension to the top of the mountain was complete. As is typical for the WWE, September and October were relatively quiet months with fairly unremarkable pay-per-views. The waiting game until January's Road to WrestleMania had begun. And then Eddie Guerrero passed away in November in the midst of a friendship/rivalry storyline with real life buddy, Dave Batista. A couple months later, Batista, then-World Heavyweight Champion, suffered a tri…

Between NXT and the Nexus, 2010 drove me a little fantasy-booking insane. I've had this rattling around in my head since...2010, so now that there's a place for it I may as well try to flesh it out into a coherent whole and see what it looks like outside my head. The challenge I gave myself was to re-do NXT, under much of the same conditions as it was at the time, and try to make it an effective pro wrestling program to introduce new talent with, instead of the self-burying joke of a show it turned out to be. As you can already tell, this was and is me fantasy booking in a very reactive way, so I will probably be dropping a lot of "I'm not doing X like they did in re…

I will first admit that I am stealing this idea from the WM8 thread. The 2nd thing I will admit is I don't think there was anything the wwf could do to draw business once the fans were tiring of Hogan. What I do know is I hated the year of yokozuna and the lex express. So what I am going to do is rebook the ppvs starting with the 93 rumble through WM10. I will include brief paragraphs explaining why wrestlers are feuding. To be continued.
