Armchair Booking

Forum for fantasy booking.

First, I would like to say hello to everyone as this is my first post. The idea I had was if you booked a 10 match card using matches that have taken place to see how good your card would look. There are two rules. 1. You can only use a particular wrestler once. For example, you can have Bret Hart vs Steve Austin from wm13. You can't have Bret or Austin in any other match on the card. Using Royal Rumbles/Battle Royals is not recommended. 2. You can only have a particular title represented once. You can have Hogan vs Savage from wm5 but you can't have that and Flair/Steamboat from Chitown. Even though they are seperate companies, 1 world title per card. S…

Breaking News - Dixie Carter has resigned from the spot of president of TNA Wrestling. Everyone at TNA Wrestling would like to thank Dixie and her mother Janet Carter for making TNA the huge succes that it has been to this day. To find out who the next owner of TNA Wrestling will be, make sure you check out Impact Wrestling this Thursday LIVE on Spike TV! TNA Impact - May 1st 2014 The whole roster is on the ramp as news broke this week that the Carter Family have left TNA Wrestling and the ring has some sort of cover over it that is hovering over the top of it so you can't see anything of the ring or ringside. The show starts with Mike Tenay and Taz on commentary…

So I got interested in the Crockett Cup during a project I'm doing and thought I'd fantasy book a 4th Crockett Cup. Background: Crockett Promotions had a stipulation in the sale to Turner that they would hold one final Crockett Cup in April of 1989 to honor the Crockett family and that they would offer spots to all teams in the nation no matter the cost to make it the best ever. Non-Tournament Special Attraction Match: Hulk Hogan/Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair/Randy Savage: Two out of Three Falls EDIT: I realize the very last bracket is swapped, but it still works out

  4. I thought I’d post a “Road to WrestleMania 30” fantasy booking just to get feedback. I had fun doing it, but it was harder than I thought to get as many people included as I could and making it interesting. I started at TLC instead of the Royal Rumble to try and setup the reasoning for the story going forward. Goals: Strengthen Titles – Four separate men’s singles titles is just too much. Create fresh matchups/stars – This was difficult, but I think coming out of this theoretical WrestleMania it would be an interesting summer. NOTE: I only casually keep up with the current product so if anything is off, that is why. TLC PPV Kassius Ohno defea…

  5. At Extreme Rules, The Shield destroys Evolution. Bryan retains against Kane. The next night, no one knows where Batista is. He took the fall and they haven't seen him since. Randy Orton isn't much help on his own. HHH is embarrassed. He's talking to Stephanie later in the show. HHH: "You know what we have to do, right?" Stephanie: "What?" HHH: "We have to go talk to HIM." Stephanie: "Who? ... OH, YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING. No way! Not him!" HHH: "It's our best shot of regaining control of what's going on around here." Stephanie reluctantly agrees. *** The next week, HHH and Stephanie meet with Paul Heyman. Stephanie can barely hide her disgust. Heyma…

  6. I wanted to throw my hat into fantasy booking, for some reason. Slabinski611 threw this out as an option in a thread and he allowed me to go with it. What if Randy Savage returned to the WWF at Survivor Series 1996? I know this was a rumour out there at the time, however I have no idea if it had any validity. However, I am going to run with it. I am not going to start at Survivor Series though, but start the night after Buried Alive. I am going to loosely follow events, but modify as I go. For reference here is the events of Buried Alive: In Your House "Buried Alive" - Indianapolis, IN - Market Square Arena - October 20, 1996 (9,649; 8,238 paid) Fre…

Okay, this is using the Filsinger Games Legends of Wrestling card game. So the winners of matches are determined by dice rolls. This promotion is a territory that runs Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. For the roster I'm using guys primarily from the 70s and 80s with guys from the 90s and 60s mixed in together. This is also a part of an NWA promotion I've run for over 3 years so you'll see NWA champions stop in here and there and footage from big matches from that promotion. This is meant to be like an 80s style promotion. There will be a weekly television show and maybe quarterly big house shows. I'll try to cycle talent as best as I can. I…

  8. In this thread, I'm going to pursue one of my worst ever ideas by booking Ivan Koloff first into Race's spot at Starrcade 83 and then into Iron Sheik's spot in December 1983. Consider this a trailer.

There is a lot of talent out there right now. I was thinking about how you could make a really awesome card with independent talent if you had a lot of money to waste. If you could, what kind of dream card would you set up? I think I would do something like this: 1. The Young Bucks vs. The Time Splitters 2. John Greed vs. Kyle Matthews 3. Rey Escorpión vs. Volador Jr. 4. Silas Young vs. Chris Masters 5. Luke Gallows vs. Harry Smith Intermission 6. The Overdogs (Josh Alexander & Sebastian Suave) vs. The Briscoe Brothers 7. Chris Hero vs. James Mason 8. Street Fight: Kevin Steen vs. L.A. Park

A lot has been said about how will the WWE be able to not fuck up D-Bry's momentum given how little success they've had with long term booking and big angles in the last few years. Here's my scenario for Bryan to keep his momentum and stretch his quest for the WWE Title until Mania. I think the main thing is trying to give him as many important matches as possible until Royal Rumble as after that the Road to Wrestlemania is quite simpler. To me, the biggest problem they have is that Orton and Triple H are not enough for Bryan to run through and get to Mania as a hot act. He needs more heels that are established and can generate real heat. So... The NOC title …

I figured if I try to do fantasy booking on any of the topics I created in my poll, it will take some brainstorming on my part. So in the meantime I came up with this idea. It is an american version of the AJPW RWTL. I know that contradicts the use of the word world but it is just for fun anyway. I will do one and if people like it I will do another and so on. Since I am an old timers fan we are starting with 1986. The tournament will begin thanksgiving night and end on Christmas night. The rules are a round robin tourney with 2 points for victory,1 point for a draw, 0 points for loss/double dq/co. 12 teams which means 11 cards. Teams are decided with 4 spots …

One of the things that people who know me would say is that I love fantasy booking. I've even parlayed it into some weird independent consulting gig with the WWE once upon a time, and I've always kept notes on what I'd do booking wise when I watch wrestling. So I guess I'll just use this thread as a personal playground for some booking ideas. Depending on the mood, I may do week to week booking with detailed information, and other times I might just do monthly recaps. Feedback, of course, are always welcomed. The first topic I will touch upon is 2002- The age of the brand split in the WWE. I will rebook from the beginning of the split up to Wrestlemania 2004. Will p…

OK, I am finishing up Bret Hart's first title run and I would like to try something else. I gave 6 options above for everyone to choose from. Also interested in some feedback on what I've done with the rebooking of Bret Hart in 93-94. Thanks.

I'm not going week by week, just broad themes. Cast of characters: Regal had assembled his Ruthless Roundtable of Ezekiel Jackson and Vladmir Koslov. They had been trying to get Christian's belt for basically half a year and failing. Trent Baretta and Caylen Croft had been called up as a tag team. Hawkins, as best as I can remember, was not called up with them and didn't show up on the roster til May. Zach Ryder was still a heel and just beat Dreamer in a feud that sent him out of the company. Daniel Bryan was in developmental basically warming up but ready to be called up at any point. He had just had his match with Kaval in FCW on January 14. This is what I a…

I haven't got all of my thoughts together yet though I intend to ramble on about this later. I will say as a hint as to some of where I'd go, I think they botched this right from the beginning on the last Nitro through to how they introduced WCW being purchased. I also think they fucked up not rebranding Smackdown when they found out no network would take on Nitro as a separate show because it had a rep for losing money. But I'll get to all that later when I've had more time to smooth out some things. There are a couple realities that I think need to be acknowledged, though not necessarily respected totally when it comes to redoing this thing. One, the biggest reason…

OK I am a HUGE mark for anything NWO, I will say that from the start... Do you think the NWO 2000 version could have worked with just Hart / Steiner / Nash / Hall / Jarrett if Bret doesnt get hurt at Starrcade and then forced to quit after being in out of ring angles, followed by Goldberg ripping his arm apart on the limo, followed by Jarrett and Hall both getting injured, derailing things into the mess it became... When the last NWO formed, I thought it was great, it was just them and they even said they were just the best, no one else was coming...the night they formed, Nash's mic is broken which sucks as his comments could have been good. Thunder was go…

The "Who's Bob Brown in each fed" question led to me this when I saw the Nash comments, particularly about Starrcade 1998. If everything is the same up to and during Starrcade, same ending with Nash winning after Goldberg gets shocked by returning Hall, walks into a powerbomb and loses...BUT afterward, starting the next night, the booking is done different with Goldberg still the main focus and the booking at the top being about Goldberg trying to get back to Nash, with Nash (now heel again) putting stuff in his way and watching it get knocked down.... Would there be soo much hatred toward the end of the Starrcade show? The fans popped when Nash won and hon…
