The people (oh god this just sounds like a "you people" promo now) who ranked the event on Cagematch typically averaged this out at nearly one star on the scale which I found to be just complete bullshit: this was a tremendous love-letter to classic British Catch wrestling, and unlike many matches where the guys involved are too scared to keep that going for the whole match and just default into regular stuff usually after a while, these madmen kept this theme going for the whole duration pretty much. Williams focuses in on the arm until trying for a fancy top rope moonsault in the corner, with Ogawa stomping his leg and causing the lad to crumple. What I loved about this…

Yone attacks Akiyama at the bell, which looks way cooler than those segments usually do since a bunch of smoke comes out when Akiyama climbs on the entrance ramp and Yone takes advantage of that. The kicks he takes Akiyama down with looked clunky, which was the first sign I wasn't going to like this as much as I did however many years ago I'd watched it first. Akiyama's acting is top notch-he gets into Yone's face and goes straight after him, Yone instantly fired back with kicks, Akiyama barely registers it, then gets kicked in the face and has to, then gets serious and Exploders him off the apron. I just CAN'T BELIEVE that there was a SUB-10 MINUTE NOAH MAIN EVENT in 2007. I mean that in the most positive way possible. We start things off with them going right to the business with a crazy intense strike exchange that ends up with KENTA getting the control w/ a nice lariat. KENTA does a great job working over the champ - Morishima gets a nice comeback with a big lariat, his comeback is quickly cut off in awesome fashion by KENTA who gives him a HUGE German. Badass. KENTA again controls for a while only for Morishima to get the control with a LARIAT. Clearly the story they told in this match is that key to success is a goddamn lariat. Always a lariat. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage vs Samoa Joe - Destination X 2007 I keep waiting for Christian to knock my socks off. He is very good but nothing spectacular. Same holds true here. I thought Joe was great as usual. The shine was really good. Showed off Joe's strikes, explosiveness and the cool badass. Christian was pretty good feeding all this. I liked Christian squandering his lucky advantage by going for a chair perfect way for a heel to lose his edge by being greedy. Joe really threw him down. Christian finally gets a DDT on apron.
