An absolutely amazing match. Bryan tortures the shit out of young Zack - just stretches him out with his vicious submission holds & beats him down with his brutal strikes. ZSJ's selling & bumping is excellent + it looks all the more devastating than it already is because of his skinny frame. He gets pretty much nothing in until he gets fired up as Bryan is delivering corner strikes to him - that's when he gets his big comeback, in which he applies a very good looking armbar, which Bryan sells like DEATH. One thing I've learned from scouring 2000s puro is that Minoru Suzuki consistently delivers the goods in tag matches. Suzuki and Kea come in with a clear game plan: neutralize the heavy hitter Suwama and isolate the junior Kondo. The opening minutes are centered around Suzuki goading Suwama into blowing his stack, resulting in him eating a spike piledriver on the floor. When Suwama is the legal man, Suzuki and Kea go crazy with blind tags, even catching him off-guard with a fake blind tag. Suwama and Kondo string together a nice run of offense near the end, but Suwama's exuberance once again leads to him being taken out and Kondo is overwhelmed by the numbers game. Lots o…

I thought this was totally awesome, CWA is the most recent iteration of Kingsport TN indy wrestling which is a tradition which goes back decades. I loved the opening section of this with Robbie Cassidy bumping around and busting open Chase Owens. Cassidy was fucking great in this, classic southern punches, big cage bumps, an awesome top rope fist drop, I had watched bits and pieces of Kingsport indies before (Tony Givens used to send me DVD's) , but this match made me want to search out more Robby Cassidy. This has always got comparisons to Danielson vs. KENTA (GBH) because the story of the match being pretty much the same - the champ coming into it with injured arm(s) against one of the most lethal offensive wrestlers around. So let's say it right away; this is definitely not as good as that match. This is certainly great, though. KENTA's targeting of Nigel's freshly injured arm was tremendous & Nigel's selling really was fantastic. I actually thought that there wasn't enough of KENTA kicking Nigel's arm stuff - all of that ruled, clearly the highlight of the match, but after a while, KENTA didn't target that arm as much as he did in the beginning stages of the match, …
