  2. The first Sumo Hall main event for DDT. HARA has some incredibly silly entrance gear for the occasion. The matwork and striking early on is dissapointingly clumsy and awkward but once they start working at a higher pace and eventually doing high spots it gets pretty good, they build on each other's moves and counter and dodge stuff. HARASHIMA catching Ibushi's dives with a straight knee was great. Pretty good match and it feels like a special moment.

  3. WWE Champion Randy Orton vs John Cena - Summerslam 2009 I bought this PPV because the Punk/Hardy storyline was so engrossing that my brother and I just had to get this one. For soap enthusiasts, Bold & The Beautiful's Ridge Forrester is in attendance for this show. I spotted him in the crowd in a couple shots when they pan. This is during Randy Orton's very lean and very hairless phase that makes him look wicked creepy. A little context, Batista actually defeated Orton for the belt in June, but got injured in the match. So WWE just rebooted put the belt back on Orton and had him feud with Cena. Honestly, not a bad idea, their 2007 feud got cut short by an i…

  4. WWE Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler - Summerslam 2009 Rey is so good at creating tension within moves. He is so small that you never know if he will land his move or it will be turn against him. There are a couple great cradles that Ziggler sat down on or Mysterio won control. This feeling of going either way really adds to the match. I thought this match was built around a succession of nearfalls throughout. Ziggler set the tone early with the powerslam, cover and then a cradle. Ziggler lost at the previous PPV and was here to win. Mysterio's moonsault at the beginning was breath-taking and I liked his rana from the apron. Ziggler hits a buckl…

  5. Christian vs William Regal - WWECW 8/25/09 Christian defeated William Regal two nights previous at Summerslam in 8 seconds with the Killswitch. So Regal demands a rematch because he was not ready, Tiffany (remember her?!? I'll never forget her and Gail Kim tearing the house down in Boston in 2013 in their Last Woman Standing Match) comes out and order to a rematch but it will be non-title. Regal has to win this match to get a title shot. Terrific TV Match. They play off the Summerslam match with Christian going for the Killswitch early. Christian controls with a series of headlock takedowns. He gets his dropkick to the outside but thinks twice about following it u…

  6. Sheamus vs Goldust - WWECW 8/25/09 Always a feud I wanted to check out because it is two of my all time favorites. I was not disappointed by this outing in the least bit. This is apparently the rubber as each hold a victory over the other. This is hard hitting, smashmouth and chaotic. I was expecting this out of Sheamus against Cena and Orton in early 2010 but it seems he was already sterilized by WWE. He was probably scared of taking the establishment out of the comfort zone. He was more comfortable with Goldust here just smacking the shit out of him. The thing with Sheamus is that he gives as good as he receives. When he slaps Sheamus, Goldust comes in and wrecks hi…

  7. Yujiro Yamamoto is the only guy whom I wish to nominate who doesn't have the three reviews on the internet so I'll try to at least bullshit through them. There is one thing I don't love in this match. A spot where they dare each other to kick each other as hard as possible. And even that I managed to enjoy as I happen to love watching them kick each other really hard. You get the slick matwork you'd want, they shoot slap and kick each other in the face really hard and they even incorporate a really good legwork segment in there. I really don't think of Dragon Screw Legwhips as something that I particularly like or dislike in my wrestling, but here Sawa pulls them off as v…
