  3. Damn good match, heel Liger is always fun to watch and La Sombra was awesome as the young flying babyface, the school boy suplex is a great looking moving and I liked what they did with it in the first and third fall. Liger being bested at every turn near the end and having to cheat to get the W was a great heel move that went accordingly with the story they were telling. Can't say this was special or anything but I can't find much to complain about either, a very good encounter that's worth a watch. Kinda off topic but good lord Lucha commentary is horrible, I've made my dislike for it be known in the past before, even made a thread about, but after more than a ye…

  4. Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Satoshi Kojima - NJPW 8/15/10 It is a huge testament to Tanahashi that he rebuilt New Japan with very little support outside of his contemporary Nakamura and Yuji Nagata of the previous generation. The Three Musketeers has Inoki, Choshu, Fujinami to prop their cards. For Tanahashi He had no Musketeers and Sasaki & Kojima had left. Obviously he didn’t wrestle himself but as far as one person carries his wrestling company back from he brink of bankruptcy this right up there with Stone Cold in 1998. Heres the return of one of those Prodigal Sons That New Japan lost when Mutoh defected to All Japan. I don’t think Kojima would have been a gam…

  5. Team WWE is John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho, R-Truth, John Morrison, Bret Hart & Daniel Bryan. The ending & the result are truly awful, but looking past that, this is actually a very good Survivor Series style multi-man elimination tag. The 35+ minutes they go fly by -- the action is solid throughout, and there's some flashes of greatness in there; Daniel Bryan was absolutely awesome for every second he was in there, and Bret Hart had a really nice short run too. He still threw one helluva punch, and I liked the way they eliminated him, even if you could argue that it made him look dumb. Also a shoutout to the future Ryback in one Skip Sheffield; I thought tha…

  7. Great, unheralded match, unfortunate to have occured long after NOAH's peak but before the proliferation of Japanese wrestling on streaming sites. Akiyama and Sugiura do some classic wizardry here with spots that look like they should knock either man unconscious. Akiyama does a great job eating strike after strike after strike and selling his way back into the fight. This goes a long way to getting a half full Ariake Coliseum into the match, because as you can tell from the opening minutes, they weren't exactly blowing the roof off the rafters. It's a twenty five minute match but I never got close to wanting them to wrap it up. The match keeps escalating until they arriv…
