In many ways, the final title match between Fujinami and Choshu mirrored their very first contest. Fujinami is once again the proud company champion and Choshu the unpredictable outsider. However, at this chapter in their rivalry, the bigger story arc has already been told and the in-ring work now feels run down and uninspired, and unfortunately, the chapter ends with a shit double countout. Choshu and his Ishingun boys take care of Inoki before the bell and at times, the camera seems more interested in what’s happening to Inoki then what Choshu and Fujinami are doing in the ring. It’s the same well-tread structure, with the two working the mat for dominance, the old heat…

Six-Man Tag Team Champions Fabulous Freebirds vs Von Erichs - WCCW 9/5/83 The Freebirds must think the Confederate soldiers are their lucky charm as they repeat the entrance from when they won the titles. Per usual, there is massive heat. Buddy Jack Roberts is cocky because the Von Erichs cant put the Claw on his head due to his headgear, the very loaded headgear that won the Birds back their titles. So David puts it on his stomach. Great set up and payoff! Love Buddy Jack! Hayes drives Kerry into the allegedly loaded helmet. Again it is through Buddy the heat segment starts. They work a strong heat segment on Kerry, who is the best seller of his brothers. Gordy …

These guys have a lot of history. Wrestling 2 and TA feuded with Reed and Neidhardt for the tag belts. The match is super fun before they even lock up. Wrestling 2 uses his speed advantage to start. A Million Dollar Knee Lift stuns Reed and he takes a powder.Wrestling 2 has a headlock on Reed. Reed tries to toss 2, but he holds onto the front face lock. Huge Knee lift from the 2nd rope and Reed is reeling. Wrestling 2 runs into a Reed knee to set up the heat. Elbow drop by Reed. Reed is using his weight on 2. Wrestling 2 tries to rally, but Reed tugs him down by the mask. Wrestling 2 showing tons of fire underneath, Reed pulls the mask again. Reed using his weig…

This really is a great match to upload for Thanksgiving. Andre teaming up with the local babyface always seems special. I've always been a mark for Devestation Inc. So this has the potential to be a barn burner. We start out with a wild fight. Missing Link takes a bump like he was shot out of a cannon. It settles down and we have some fun with Kamala refusing to enter the ring if Andre is in . So it becomes Duggan and Link. Link is bumping big for Duggan and showing plenty of ass to make Duggan look great. Finally we get Andre and Kamala and the crowd erupts. Then these guys are fighting and Kamala is showing tons of agression or savagery. I really enjoyed the match …

In 1983 this is a dream match. Both huge draws and special attraction types. Andre is really taking it to Abby. Abby's comeback is very similar to Andre's. This is a give and take brawl. Andre hits Abby with a fence. They brawl in the stands. This was pretty short and sweet. 2 3/4*

Surprised that there wasn't a thread about this match already. This gets pimped as MOTY, MOTD, an all-time great match, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Trying to get more into lucha, and I am so glad I watched this match - because it was absolutely awesome. This was a total bloodbath - one of the best blood visuals in wrestling ever. Absolutely loved how it started with MS-1 being a total dick, just beating the crap out of Chicana, and then how naturally it transitioned from MS-1 being the cocky heel in control to him being in total trouble when Chicana busted out that epic comeback of his. Loved every second of this. ****3/4

We start out with 2 really good promos. Dusty's promo was off the chart, but have no clue what he mans to out black Reed. Early on we have Dusty funky like a monkey. He nails Reed with the bionic elbow. Dusty is 1 step ahead early. Dusty transitions to the leg and works a leg lock. This is to take Butch's strength out of the equation.Reed was real good at making Dusty look good. He bumped well and sold for Dusty. When Reed was on offense he didn't really get a chance to get the heat. His heat segment was a front facelock and that's pretty uninteresting. So the 1st 10 minutes or so was fun Though when Butch goes on offense the match suffers. It just wasn't much of a…

We start of with Paul Boesch doing interviews with the girls. He's straight up Uncle Paul here and one of the reasons Houston loved him so much. The match was really good. They went 15+ and worked at a pretty quick pace. The early work was Day on top and set up that she was the heel in this match. We got a lot of back and forth action. With Day's work on top was longer. We'd see Combs get shots of working on top but Day would cut it off rather abruptly. In the spot of the night or maybe the 80's Day takes a sternum bump into the corner alla Bret Hart. Comb charges and takes a top rope flip bump to the outside that takes out Paul Boesch!!!! This sets up a run at the f…

This has a lot of beef here. Doc is pretty green here. So green he has no facial hair. He makes up for being green by being intense as hell. We start out with a brawl right at bell. 1st Doc pairs off with Bundy and ecerts his physical dominance. Then Doc does the same with Gang and scores and amateur take down. Duggan in with OMG and the gang is bumping big for all of Duggan's offense. Bundy in to give it a try and both guys are throwing hands that sees old Hacksaw get the advantage. Doc back in, but this time Bundy and Gang have the advantage. The heels are using their weight to tire out Doc. Doc makes the tag, but an experienced worker would have milked it some more. Du…

This is an awesome squash match .Kamala was savage and a total monster here. Rich was chosen for a reason. It seemed they were building to a Tommy Rich rematch that never happened. I miss these type of matches on the card.

I always thought Magnum was like a hybrid Von Erich. Like he was willing to sell like David, had fire like Kevin, and the "IT" factor of Kerry. This was a better match than I had seen any of the Von Erich's have with Link. We see early on Magnum on a fun shine sequence. Link was great at eating all of Magnum's offense and bumping big for it. Magnum's offense wasn't anything special, but the way Link put it over sure was. The early part of Link's heat was great with some really nifty back work. Of course Magnum's comeback is full of fire. We get a ref bump which sets up Link getting the win, and a match with JYD next week. 3*

Very good bout, but the Portland crowd wasn't as loud as they used to be for the big matches, so this didn't feel like a big deal despite being a very important match. Dynamite was at his best at the beginning and Rose made him look great with impressive selling. They attempted to add some drama with the blood, but they kind of gave up at one point, which was a shame. I liked Rose's comeback, even though the last fall was too short for me, and the fact that Dynamite won "luckily, but smartly" like Flair would do, as at least the match got a true finish ***1/2
