American Tag Team Champions Fantastics vs Midnight Express - WCCW 12/25/84 It is Christmas Day 1984 so the Fantastics are throwing candy canes out to the fans. I just love these teams chemistry. Rogers holding the rope open for Cornette and calling him a chicken was fun. Fantastics outsmart and outquick MX and have them scurrying, discombobulated and hugging one another for comfort. Roger commits the cardinal mistake of tag team wrestling; he hits the man on the apron and Condrey comes from behind to hit him. MX double teams and goes after the arm. MX offense is great during this extended heat segment backbreaker, kneedrop, double stomp and lots of double team and goo…

Billy is a type of worker that Kamala could have a good match with. I loved the early brawling. I even liked Kamala's nerve hold.for the 1st 2 minutes at least. This is where Billy sold it wonderfully. I loved him balling his fist trying to get the nerves going in his arm.We get a comeb*.ck that is short lived. Then to a fun finish. I enjoyed aspects of the match, and want to see a rematch. 2 1/4.*.

This was fine for what it was. Way too short to tell much of a story. Still the finish set up a variety of stuff. Like multiple ref stip, , special ref, No DQ etc. 2*

This was fun for what it was. Ladd is a smart worker still. Brad was good showing fire underneath. The crowd was hot for Brad's comeback. Just too short. 2 1/4*

I've always dug Parson's. Still do to this day. Still a kind of nothing match. Put on the card to eat up some time. 1/2 *

Kerry Von Erich vs Gino Hernandez 12/27/84 This was a really good match. In some earlier Gino we saw this opportunistic young punk who wasn't afraid to throw hands. Here he's morphed into this charismatic, big bumping, stooging heel who's a heat magnet. This was 2 rings and they used them. Gino did some cat and mouse spots. It was a fun back and forth bout. By the end Keryy's bleeding. 3 1/4* I think this might be new.

These guys are both really good workers. Oliver is most famous for his Portland run. Horner is a guy who has worked everywhere. Always did well. The epitome of a mid carder, but a real good hand in the ring. These guys did what was needed from them. Have an entertaining high energy match. This was a very good match for what was needed from the talent. Oliver's heeling to Horner's fight. Good stuff. 2 1/2*

Rock N Roll Express/Duggan vs Doc/Dibiase/Hercules 12/27/84 2 1/2* This is a new one. I found this more fun than good, and a match that was suited better live than for people watching it at home. You had a match going on in each ring, while you had one wrestler in between each ring that could tag in and out to each ring. This is a pretty cool premise and wonder if it started in Houston. I will say their is a lot to digest but super fun stuff.

WWF World Tag Team Champions North-South vs Jack & Jerry Brisco – MSG 12/28/84 This is one of the weirdest matches to ever take place in WWF ring for my money. Three of the four of these guys (Murdoch, Briscos) just seem so not WWF wrestlers. It is totally crazy seeing this match in MSG. Finally got around to watching this match as it is probably the 80s WWF tag team match with the most hype that I have never watched. This is the Dick Murdoch show through and through. For the first ten minutes, I was totally lost on why this is considered a classic. It just seemed like one of the all-time funniest performances by an individual wrestler. You had…

Schultz is the guy that slaped a reporter once right? Seems fitting he'd be challenging Inoki for the World's Martial Arts title. This was fun-Schultz controlled the match with basic holds but Inoki's comebacks were really good-he went after Schultz with nice slaps and awesome looking punches. Schultz also executed a Suplex by dropping Inoki more on his head/neck which was....not exactly what I excpected out of 1984 WWF. **3/4

Hulk Hogan defends the WWF World Title -- aired on Japanese TV - 1/4/85; Prime Time Wrestling - 2/19/85 full version available on WWE's Top 50 Superstars of All Time DVD Oh, what a difference a year makes. This match comes almost to the date of the anniversary of Sheik's screwjob title win, the angle that served as the creative catalyst for the decade. Only twelve months later, this resembles a different promotion. Howdy Doody is out; Hulkamania is in. The Three Wise Men are being outshined by Roddy Piper and Bobby Heenan. And Vince McMahon is going to put wrestling on the Moon. One thing I don't think Vince ever considered is just how over Sheik would …

aired on All American Wrestling - 1/13/85; Japanese TV - 1/4/85 available on CHV Best of the WWF Vol. 1 Never read much about this one so let's give it a shot. This takes place after intermission on a very stacked card, the final MSG show of 1984. Needless to say it's been a hell of a year for WWF and not just in terms of mainstream attention and national expansion. This is comfortably the best in-ring work we'll see out of New York for 15 years. Unfortunately this is mainly due to a handful of guys who won't stick around long enough for the WrestleMania payday (Murdoch, Slaughter) and an insanely over heel gimmick that ran it's course (Iron Sheik). Another big …

Six-Man Tag Team Champions Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez & Jake The Snake Roberts vs Kerry, Kevin & Mike Von Erich - WCCW 12/31/84 This is my first Gino Hernandez match. Honestly, he did not do much and what he did do he seemed kinda awkward. I know he has a rep as a real heat-seeking heel like a Piper, but did not get that feel. I will keep an open mind. I don't think I have ever see Jake bump so much. Well it is World Class and the Von Erichs will make you for bump for them. That being said you could see when he was wrestling Mike how he was literally leading him through everything. So that was nice of him. The hook for the match was the big Chris Adam…
