Galactica is way more 'competent' here than the mask vs hair match, and she doesn't have Monster Ripper to bail her out this time. Galactica takes advantage early using the post and brawling in the outside. Galactica's teammates triple team Yokota and Galactica gets a rolling senton on the floor. Galactica uses biting, rope burning, eye gouging, choking, and other heel tactics to control Yokota for a good amount of time until Yokota dumps Galactica to the floor. Yokota with a tope and a kneeling piledriver on the floor. Galactica takes back over using dirty tactics, and Yokota does a blade job. Galactica gets running kick, a senton, a biting chin lock and power slam…

Super Tiger vs Akira Maeda - UWF 1/7/85 I just found out that the Original UWF was Sayama's promotion not Maeda's. It now all makes sense why Sayama has not jobbed once! I checked Cagematch and through this match Super Tiger does not lose. I will say I have greatly enjoyed him in this run in UWF. He has such a beautiful kicks. I don't think I have seen someone kick as gracefully and as forcefully as Super Tiger. It is such a diverse array of kicks too that makes it special. He really tags Maeda with a couple great roundhouse kicks to the midsection. I have to say I thought this was a better Maeda still not great, but his strategy was smart. He let Tiger come to him. T…

Fujiwara was once again ruled in this match match with his great veteran prowess, time and again forcing Yamazaki back to the ropes as he zeroes in on Kazuo’s arm. Seriously, those ropes became Yamazaki’s second home. When Yamazaki realizes that taking the grap action down to the canvas is a bad idea against Fujiwara, he starts snapping off kicks. It works to an extent but it also serves to further piss off Fujiwara. The build to the arm submission finish was teased throughout, with Fujiwara briefly switching things up to the legs as a way to weaken some of Yamazaki’s kick. Yamazaki's kicks were on point, especially that solebutt, and he puts a little extra spicy mustard …

Genichiro Tenryu, Mighty Inoue, Takahashi Ishikawa vs Riki Chosu, Animal Hamaguchi, Isawmu Teranishi - AJPW 1/10/85 Fast & Furious! It doesn't matter if it is 1985 or 1995, All Japan six-man tags are wrestled at a clip few can ever keep up with. This is the opening salvo in Choshu's legendary invasion of All Japan that forever changed the course of puroresu history. I have seen some of the follow up Tenryu/Choshu singles and really liked them. I wanted to go back and watch this before I delved any deeper into this legendary rivalry. If you are like me, Inoue is in red, Ishikawa is in purple, Animal is in the singlet and Teranishi is in white. They cut an a…

American Tag Team Champions Fantastics vs Midnight Express - WCCW 1/11/85 Fantastics take their time to hug and kiss every single woman in the front row. I love it! We get not one, but two "Clear the ring, booty shake, high five, thumbs up" sequence. We need more fun, happy go lucky tag teams! Another funny part was there was a "Lets Go Bobby" chant when both Bobby's were in there. I liked the shine even better in this one as it is clearly evident by my first paragraph. I always love the side headlock/headscissors takedown of both your opponents. There is a false heat segment where Eaton seems to actually take Rogers down by legal tactics, but it is just a psych o…

Rock N Roll Express vs The Nightmares - Memphis 1/18/85 The Nightmares are Ken Wayne and Danny Davis. I only know Danny Davis through Stone Cold who said he had a stiff chop and was a good mentor. They are a couple short dudes. Mempho was definitely the short man's territory. RNRs must be on loan from Watts. They looks so good here. Awesome, awesome shine. I am loving these Memphis tag team match shine. Just so many fun spots. Just watch it. Cant describe them all. If you don't smile, well then you just have no soul. I thought the heat segment is what brings this above the PYT/Fabs matches as the Nightmares are more focused on Gibson's knee and do some great work on i…

This is a previously unavailable HH I picked up from Max Lanicault and it is another classic from this series. I think these two work so well together because of what they do different. Fujiwara is going to take you down and rip at your extremities, Sayama is going to throw fast nasty kicks and punches and knock you silly. Both guys can hang in the others world, Fujiwara throws some very cool punch combos in the corner, Sayama counters some on the mat, still they want to get the match where they need it to be. Sayama tries to punish Fujiwara when he gets it to the ground by slipping out and landing huge jumping knees on his prone body, Fujiwara gets some very nasty throws…

This was my favorite feud as a kid in the 80's. When Adams sided with Gary Hart and Gino it crushed me. Both of these guys were ahead of the curve of working a real athletic style. Add in the hate and it was an awesome feud. This was short but sweet. You could tell how much both guys hated one another. The chair shot near fall was great. Kevin V.E as a wrestler you believed in him. 3*

Takada is a young gun with some already good stuff under his belt, and he's wrestling Tiger with a big handicap due to a broken arm (allegedly) which he sustained in a untelevised bout against Fujiwara. This plays into the start as he gets a bit too compliant in stand-up and ends up getting battered with a combo of sharp kicks from Tiger, which allows him to wrestle his opponent to the mat and attempt a cross armbreaker, countered by Takada excellently into his own, which he's almost able to end the match right then and there if not for him locking his hands together for dear life. He has to give up his back, which results in Takada applying a nasty Misawa-style neck cran…

The match is all shtick, but wonderfully enjoyable. The real fun begins in the post match, with Bobby Heenan taking on Andre and getting his just deserts. Patera does a wonderful job of selling how big and powerful Andre is. Enjoyable hokum.

WWF Intercontinental Champion Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana - WWF, MSG 1/21/85 Could not find the November draw again on line, which means that is the only Valentine/Santana singles match that I have not seen from this run. We skip ahead to January of the following year and while this is still a very heated feud, the storyline has taken a turn to being more about the Intercontinental Championship. Santana was able to attack Valentine savagely in October, but after a draw in November the chances of rematches would be less and less probable. Thus why this match is a much slower pace. Tito does not want to risk disqualification like he did in October because his emot…

NWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair vs Kerry Von Erich - St. Louis 1/25/85 Pretty standard Flair/Kerry, which a standard most wrestlers dream that could reach and it is pretty damn great. It is just in the Pantheon of Flair/Kerry this is their Greatest Hits. It is a ton of fun. Good Kerry shine with some fun headscissors takedowns and dropkicks. I liked the fake outs into Flair heat like the short knee and the thumb in the eye before we get the real one. We get the Claw, but Flair makes to the outside and Kerry maintains it only for Flair to smash him into the post. Standard Flair heat segment with cheating and working midsection. We get Kerry sleeper as the hope…
