February 1980

  1. I enjoyed the 1st 5-8 minutes of this. I enjoyed Mil putting Hito in holds. Though the longer it went the less interested I got which is never good. I did like to see Mil get his dander up and see those nasty looking side mounted punches. Still not enough. 1 3/4*

  2. This is JIP and probably clipped, only 6 minutes of footage. It is marked as February 3, 1979, but it is actually on that same date in 1980. The Crusher is 53 years old here, Bockwinkel has recently turned 45. We start with Nick Bockwinkel ramming The Crusher's head into the far side of the cage, then he brings him over to camera side and does it again. Bock punches the Crusher in the head four times and Crusher goes down. The Crusher is bleeding now and Bockwinkel is punching and going after the cut. He is biting him and goes to ram him into the cage, but The Crusher reverses and sends Bockwinkel into the fence, he punches Bock and takes him into the …

  3. 1980-02-05 AJW Yumi Ikeshita & Mami Kumano vs. Nancy Kumi & Lucy Kayama ★★★ Ikeshita and Kumano are “The Black Pair” and are the current tag champions. Their name just hits the nail on the head. The best way I can describe them is a couple of jackals. They did an awesome job patrolling the apron when an opponent was on the outside, waiting to attack when they attempted to climb back in. Honestly at points in this match I felt that there were more than just the two of them based on how they kept swarming. If you’ve seen baby spiders hatch and consume their mother, that was the closest comparison. Kayama was the poor soul here getting destroyed and she ba…

  4. We start with an interview with Atlas. Race interrupts and gets pressed over Atlas's head. We go to the match and this is a boatload of fun. Gino is full of charisma here. He is so great bumping and stooging for Atlas. Gino got all of Tony's stuff over. This wasn't just a one man show though. Atlas showed a lot of athleticism. Atlas took the match 2 out of 3 falls. This was so entertaining. This was worked totally different than the Atlas-Boc match, but worked just as well. 3 1/4*

  5. This is for the vacated All Pacific title match and a hell of a fight. Wait, it's Yumi Ikeshita - surely there's gonna be a ton of cheating? Well, believe it or not, but Ikeshita actually left her foreign object aside for a few minutes and went at it with Lucy on the mat. And bah gawd Yumi Ikeshita was quite the skilled grappler! She had some swank arm locks and takedowns including a really rocking flying armscissor and was just as good at dominating on the ground as she as at dominating with cheating. Eventually Lucy gets the better of her leg and Yumi actually resorts to foreign object shenanigans while hobbling one one foot and making a comeback. They go back to the wr…

  6. We start off with an Atlas promo. Atlas' Ladies walk on my chest shirt is so great based on the stories. A Gino challege. This leads to a Gino/Atlas confrontation in ring. A fight ensues. Gino takes a powder, and Jerry Brown attacks. Atlas makes a comeback. Atlas shows flashes of athleticism like the arm drags, and flying head scissors. I've always loved Atlas's jumping head butt.Loving Jerry Brown using joint manipulation , digging the trunk pulls. His heel work is solid. A little sloppy was that rope running spot. Solid stuff, decent filler match.
