Watching clips of Brazo de Plata and Los Brazos got me thinking about some of the great matches that involved trios. Those that come to mind are: Dick Togo, Taka Michinoku & Terry Boy vs. Gran Hamada, Masato Yakushiji & The Great Sasuke (4-13-97) Angel Azteca, Solar I & Super Astro vs Blue Panther, La Parka & Rambo (8-30-92) The Shield Vs. The Wyatt Family (2-23-14) CIMA, Masato Yoshino & Naruki Doi vs. Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi & Ryo Saito (3-13-06)

I know - it's a bit out of nowhere, but I watched them v Nasty Boys at Havoc '90 last week, and the match thread here had some suggestion of that as their best match ever. Made me realise I'd never sat down and thought about it. And are the Steiners still regarded as a great team? They certainly were when I started watching in '91......

Can't thank you enough for this amazing stuff! One minor correction concerning Dyanamite Kid's tour in 1979: "Hara’s next pair of defenses would take place two months later, on 1979.07.20 and 1979.07.21, and the latter was a double title match for a belt he’d already held. In his first major Japanese appearance (a draw against Isamu Teranishi on 1979.07.19 was also broadcast in clipped form, though the first Hara match wasn’t)" I have a thick magazine covering the IWE, and it happens to have TV "relays", or match listings for all the TV shows. This magazine claims these were the listings covering that July tour: 7/23 (taped 7/1…

cubsfan just tweeted that his death was confirmed tonight, he was in poor health for a while. Not only was he part of one of the most famous trios of all time with his brothers, he's also the father of several wrestlers. Not the least of which is the ace of AAA, Psycho Clown.

Around 2011, I first had the idea of making a list of ten matches that, if stranded on a desert island, I could watch and be entertained indefinitely. I soon decided that ten matches weren't sufficient to encapsulate everything I enjoy about pro wrestling, so the list eventually expanded to 50 and then 100 matches. After exposing myself to as much wrestling from as many regions and eras as I could, I now have a list of 200 matches that I can unreservedly call my favorites (as of January 1, 2020, anyway). Now that the list is solidified, I want to give the matches a fresh look so I can properly rank them. So for the next month or so (or however long it takes), this project…

Was just curious if anyone happened to be attending this weekend, and might be willing to attempt to help me out with something? https://www.tmartpromotions.com/ for anyone wondering what it is.

Every fan can think of a spot, move or sequence that leaves a bad taste in their mouth. That thing common in a wrestling match that causes you to lose interest and think they aren't even trying to make this look like a competition. For Vince Jr. it supposedly is when somebody is getting punched or choked in the corner and doesn't try to cover up but uses that time as a breather rather than selling. Jim Ross has recently talked about dives to the outside in tag matches where both teams are on the floor obviously waiting to catch the guy. Cornette has a litany of spots and moves he complains about but his main complaint usually is when things look blatantly cooperative. Fo…

Look's like Terry Funk's health issues have continued to deteriorate. He posted a video the other day asking fans to stop sending fan mail and Dustin Rhodes just posted something today to pray for him.... not good.

CMLL did a press release saying they were ending their partnership with ROH, which is probably not completely unrelated to the news that Matt Taven is being booked on the show Rush and family are running to kick off their new promotion.

He was 71. He was probably best known for the Final Conflict cage match with Sgt. Slaughter against Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood, which led to the creation of Starrcade. He had been suffering from a number of health issues in recent years, but the F4W site is reporting that his death was self-inflicted.

Forget about Rip and Zeus, BRRRRROTHER - Austin Aries vs. Low-Ki is the real Battle of the Tough Guys, and their presence guarantees plenty of DOOKIE! Who is the better/worse worker, tough guy, draw, etc.? Basically any metric you can think of is up for discussion here. Austin Aries is an arrogant asshole has its own thread, so keep those comments there. This is more about the rasslin'.

My buddy JT at Place2Be Nation is doing a Crockett/WCW greatest matches poll that will last throughout the next year. It will be a nice way for us old school fans to jump into some footage we enjoy. Fans of the 90s WCW can sink in. I never had a chance to complete the DVDVR project for Crockett so it will give me a chance to explore and rank those matches. If you would like to participate, here's the Facebook link. https://www.facebook.com/groups/GWCWMatches/ Feel free to discuss those matches here at PWO as well. I'm pretty excited about this.

Hello everyone, this is a topic that's been on my mind lately and i don't really see it covered much on here. Figured the rollout of GWE 2026 might be a good time for it! Over the past few months i've been involved in a series of old wrestling watch parties in a particular Discord server, and it's interesting to see the reactions. The core group there has a lot of lapsed Attitude Era or newer fans, the sort who've only vaguely heard of Bruno Sammartino & Chief Jay Strongbow and never knew there was another Funk besides Terry. Also noteworthy is that it's a very social-justice-minded bunch, with a good portion of them being transgender/nonbinary. This resu…

I’ve been reading around George Scott as a booker: how he transformed Mid-Atlantic to be a singles territory built around Johnny Weaver while being instrumental in bringing in new talent including Flair, Steamboat and Piper. So the story goes Scott made Flair study tapes of Buddy Rogers to become the Nature Boy when he wanted to work a cowboy gimmick. Scott literally “tore down” the old territory to build it back up again: retraining the fans to appreciate a new style. It took at least 8-9 months. Later in his WWF run as booker, 84-86, he also “retrained” the old New York crowds: upping the work rate, bringing in NWA guys (Funks, Steamboat, Piper, Bob Orton Jr…

I've always liked some of the continuities and traditions on the RWTL. So I've put together this spreadsheet. I've only included 2000 to show that Tenryu comes back after the exodus. Now some fun stats: Tournament appearances (to 2000): Total tournaments: 24 Baba: 19 Dory: 16 Hansen: 18 Jumbo: 15 Misawa: 13 Kawada: 12 Abdullah: 12 Ace: 11 Tenryu: 10 Taue: 10 Kobashi: 10 Most tournaments won as same team: Funks: 3 Misawa and Kobashi: 3 Most tournaments won (singles): Jumbo: 5 (2 with Baba, 2 with Tenryu, 1 with Yatsu) Kobashi: 5 (3 wi…

Reading through some of the responses in the "good matches ruined by their endings" thread, I realised that there are a lot of high profile examples of wrestling match endings that have negatively affected how well that match is perceived. But I'd probably find it more difficult to name examples of the opposite: matches which are actively enhanced by strong or creative finishes. This also draws off some discussion about WALTER/Ciampa from this week's Takeover ending with a single chop, which seems to have divided opinion. I watched that match and instantly loved it. It felt particularly refreshing for a modern WWE match to end with a move like that and it factored i…
