Was reading the Steel Cage site, and when they did a brief bit on the Boss Man/Nailz feud, they mentioned that Brian Adams did the original voiceovers for the Nailz promos before we saw Kevin Wacholz on screen. (I'd like to see if any of these promos can be found anywhere so I may compare) Even as a youngun back in the day, I knew the voice at least sounded like Crush (whom one of the Apter or etc. mags said was coming back at the time) so I was convinced he would play the convict character somehow. Then they began running the "Kona" Crush promos at the same time. But was it ever considered to make Adams into the Boss Man's new rival? Or did they always have Wach…

from yesterday's WO update: So basically he wants everyone in wrestling to kill themselves to meet some kind of ideal image wrestlers are supposed to have. Only TNA could end up having the guy who's supposed to be pimping their PPV go on a pro steroid rant and openly discuss match finishes.

-Endless career where he was often carrying first ballot hall-of-fame wrestlers to good matches, was versatile, was popular, and headlined some big shows. -Trained the UWF crew. -Directly responsible for the promotion that spawned Pancrase and Battlarts, to say nothing of his influence on UWF/UWF2/UWFi, etc. -Mainstream acting success. Why is Hase in before him? I know why Asai is in (more recent, more time in the US) but he has a far inferior case. The only person from Japan on the 2009 ballot who's got a competitive case is Gran Hamada (who should also be in ahead of Asai). I poked around a little and haven't been able to find how Fujiwara has done in years…

So, No Way Out tonight... - HHH wins the title again - Edge steals Kofi's Chamber spot and wins the other title - Orton beats Shane, no surprise - Michaels beats JBL, probably ending their storyline Certainly an eventful PPV, but I thought this show would provide some answers as to where they are going for Mania, and now it's even more unclear. HHH and Edge as champions would seem to prevent the match between them I was expecting, but I'm thinking they might do that match anyway and make it title for title. They wouldn't necessarily have to unify the brands if they did that, just have the champ wrestle on both shows like in the early days of the draft. …

So it started with Test dying last week and now Steve Dunn/Doll of Well Dunn fame and Luchador Abismo Negro died this weekend. Abismo was found in a river face down after apparently having a anxiety attack on a bus at 1:30 am. Sad way for him to go.

Can anyone shed some light on John Muse? 04/30/01 WON - "Speaking of Bischoff, if he had been able to acquire WCW as was expected, besides Rob Van Dam and Don Callis, who have admitted being pretty close to deals but told to keep it quiet, I believe Joey Styles was also under consideration as an announcer and John Muse was going to be given the job of head booker of the cruiserweight division, which would have been kept largely seperate."

That’s the title of my wrestling column, it’s not too eye popping original, but it’s not completely devoid of originality either. I got my motivation to write this time consuming column because I love professional wrestling, and I want to make an honest living out of writing professionally. Being a forum member at internet message boards like DVDVR (Death Valley Driver Video Review) and Pro Wrestling Only also helps considerably in wanting to spend the hours it takes to watch matches, jog down some thoughts, and then spin them into words that will hopefully be clever enough to garner actual readers. This will be a definite learning experience, I’m sure I’ll skin my k…

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/ve...ect_feb_18_2009 Anyone think we're about to get into more media stories about dementia, Alzheimer's Disease and how they are linked to concussions and the like? And how likely may it have been that Verne may have suffered from multiple concussions during his wrestling career, even when he wrestled during a time when wrestlers weren't known for taking frequent blows to the head.

http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/919...DVD-Listing.htm This was an absolutely tremendous lineup of the best matches from SNME, along with some of the great moments and the funnier sketches they did. The nice part about it is going to a three-disc edition so as much of the early yeras can be featured as possible. It will be nice to have DVD-quality versions of Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart, Jake Roberts vs. Ricky Steamboat, the two Hogan steel cage matches with Paul Orndorff and Big Bossman, Rockers vs. Brain Busters and the match where Shawn Michaels won his first IC title. And most of all, the Rick Martel Arrogance spots, which may have been the most aweso…

She's been sending informal columns to sites like WO and F4W for a few weeks and they're actually really good. The latest is my favorite so far, talking about how lucky she was to break in while there were still territories to learn in, flawed psychology she's seen at indy shows, and who young wrestlers should watch to learn from. http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/h...t.asp?aID=22397 The "bad years" in her "personal life" line makes me wonder if she's the Bridgitte Nielsen of wrestling: Someone who seems like an embarrassing idiot while deep into substance abuse but surprisingly intelligent when clean. This isn't the first time that she's come off well a…

Details about the DVD can be found here. Some of the matches are good selections, a few obviously being selected for historical importance more than anything else. Not sure if it's one to go out of your way to get, though.

I am currently working on All Japan nominations. Some of my thoughts are just short lines and others are tedious recaps that help me keep the matches in line. I thought you guys might be interested in some of the stuff we have been watching for the 80s project. 1980 Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Dick Slater (Champion Carnival Final, 5/1/80) - Really strong match here. I love how these guys battle over the smallest move. Jumbo tries a double underhook suplex but Slater blocks it by hooking his foot around Jumbo’s leg. He fights and twists to keep Jumbo from getting a Boston Crab. I mark out huge for that shit. Early on, Slater’s main focus was on Jumbo’s leg and he does enoug…

Back in 1985 when the whole "Pro Wrestling USA" experiment launched, they held a card at the Meadowlands that the Apter mags just went apeshit over. At the time, on paper it did seem like the greatest thing ever to those of us in New Jersey without cable and just the Apter mags to know about anything besides the WWF. Does this show exist on tape at all? I remember that there were some no shows, and the mags tried to explain them away kayfabe. The only one I remember was Lawler was supposed to team with Tommy Rich against the Road Warriors, not the Baron. NWA/AWA Star Wars 2/85 February 24, 1985 in East Rutherford, NJ The Meadowlands drawing 18,600 (…

So one of my e-friends was all "have you seen the Terri Runnels chairshot pic?" and I said no, expecting some hilarious upskirt pic or something along those lines but instead saw this: So does anyone know the story behind this?

This is something that I've been wondering about lately. Who exactly is the best wrestler in the world? The easy answer seems to be Danielson, but is that really the case, or is it just people buying into his hype? A couple of years ago, I'd have said KENTA. But then the best match of his that I'd ever seen, vs. SUWA from 9/18/05, wound up being all SUWA. So I'm stumped, who is it?

So the newest Observer says this in a FCW TV recap: I decided to check out the match and it was a perfectly fine, if dull, generic indy tag match, but nowhere near what Dave said. Usually, I wouldn't care, but this match made me wonder, as normally, one can see why Dave rated a divisive match a certain way: He liked it because it had a lot of cool well-executed highspots, or MMA spots, or a hot run of nearfalls, or something else that he always likes. This didn't have any of that other than what I'd agree was a great finish (Hennig hits a apron to ring Perfectplex on Wilson, Natalya pulls on his leg to break up the pin, Hennig sits up, and Wilson quickly crucifixes…
