Coming out on November 27: Oh man, the infamous phantom title change, a WCCW squash, the Rockers comeback match, and the Tell Me A Lie video. This could be the greatest WWE DVD ever.

S.L.L.'s post in the other thread got me thinking, for WWE, what has been a better time period? Obviously, because there's more wrestling on TV now, there have been far more good matches that people have seen this decade than last decade. But would you say the peak stuff from the 2000s is better or worse than the peak Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels matches from the 90s? Let's talk.

The Destroyer v Toyonobori - JWA 02/26/65 I don't really have a lot to say about this one, other than this is a valuable match to see because Toyonobori pretty much does nothing and Destroyer has to carry him every step of the way. He does a terrific job doing so, but in a match like this, the better worker is pretty much stripped down to formula, but lucky for Beyer, he has a great formula that's enough to make this a three-star match with virtually no help from his opponent. The difference between Destroyer going all out in a match with a slug and someone like Kurt Angle doing it is that Beyer doesn't forget that he needs to make his opponent look good in the process. …

Hello everyone. This is my first post and so I tried to make it an interesting one. I, like most of us here, have fell victim to the obsessive hobby of trying to find THE best matches of a certain promotion, year, decade, all-time, etc. I recently undertook the project of dissecting each year between 2000 - present in hopes of making definitive lists to be used as a reference. I recently completed 2000 and am currently working on 2001. I worked out a method for doing this and would enjoy any feedback on making it better. First, I listed the results for "Match of the Year" as voted by the readers of the WON. Second, I went through the entire year of the WON and…

According to this link from DVDVR, the Rumble will be the first WWE show in HD. I hope their makeup staff all got raises in anticipation of this.

I thought I'd sprinkle these out and do these for every promotion. AAA comes first alphabetically, so it comes first here. Basically, here's how it works: 1. How was AAA overall in 2007? 2. What was the best overall period for AAA and why? 3. What was the worst overall period for AAA and why? 4. What are the must-see matches, covering the entire history of AAA? 5. Which wrestlers have had the best runs in the history of AAA? 6. How would you describe AAA booking overall? 7. Five best AAA matches ever? 8. Any interesting AAA-related links? 9. Are there things that are sort of unique to AAA that someone who is watching for the fi…

I heard recently that Inoki is a muslim. His Islamic name is Mohammed Hussein. Is this common knowledge? The con thread should be full of Inoki stories.

What are some tales about the Yakusa and wrestling? And specifically what was the whole story with the Vader incident?

Might not be the absolute proper place for this, but it was clearly inspired by the Rumble thread so I figured I'd put it here, since I was watching Survivor Series 89 while checking out the board and I think there were some near-perfect teams in '89. The babyface super dream team of Hogan, Roberts AND Demolition. The smarmy prick heel magic of Rick Rude, Curt Hennig and the underrated Rougeaus. Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka and the Bushwhackers all bonding in their mutual insanity. I also always liked the Savage/Steamboat/Roberts/Beefcake/Duggan team from 1987 and the Owen/Bulldog/Jarrett/Michaels/Diesel team from 1994. Who are your favorites?

Anyone know a good New Japan results site? I'm trying to find dates on some 1990-1992 matches. The old WONs I've been searching forever and none of the matches I have on tape appear to be covered, or I'm just overlooking them.

Why does WWE still let this guy do media interviews? From a recent interview with Mike Mooneyham: Of course, he was getting steroids after he had returned from injury, so the timeline is completely off. At this point, it's not any type of startling revelation that he's lying, but I'm really shocked that WWE is letting him take questions about this in his interviews, especially considering that WWE stepped in when some paper tried to ask John Morrison about it a few weeks back, and he's not even someone who has been caught in a lie.

AJPW TV 1991 disc 10: HOLY GUACAMOLE what a great, great disc. God bless Dan Ginnetty for putting this one together: * Kawada vs. Taue 15:53 shown * Gordy & Williams vs. Hansen & Spivey 14:42 shown * Kid & Smith vs. Kroffat & Furnas 4:31 shown * Misawa, Kobashi & Kawada vs. Jumbo, Taue & Fuchi 28:20 of 51:32 shown I believe the air dates were 05/05 and 05/12 Kawada vs. Taue: Four years later, they'd have one of the best matches ever, and their '91 Carnival match ain't exactly chopped liver, either. Kawada cranks on Taue's arm from many angles, and when Taue gets his turn, Toshi just kicks Akira in the …

... but it never hurts to ask. Basically, wrestling talk online has gotten really boring for me lately. I'm sure others feel the same way. Is it too soon to try Greatest Wrestler Ever 2? More footage is popping up all the time, so it seems like people's opinions change pretty frequently. If it is too soon, does anyone have any suggestions on some ridiculously ambitious project that could be started that might get people talking again? Let me know your thoughts.

Skipped ahead a little in my 1992 AJPW viewing to the 5/25/92 TV, taped at Miyagi Sports Center. I'd already seen the famous Kobashi/Kikuchi vs. Kroffat/Furnas match, and after many rewatches it's still marvellous fun. The crowd wasn't quite as insanely hot for the rest of the show, but was still better than most and added to the whole episode. The second match shown was only a small clip, and was the typical Baba comedy match featuring the debut of young and rather nervous looking Jun Izumida. Even in his first match he had his "hard head" gimmick, leading him to stand up to Masanobu Fuchi and have a great battle of the headbutts with Motoshi Okuma, with both ending with…

http://www.maximonline.com/Thelastdaysofch...icles/9733.aspx The best mainstream piece I've seen. Nothing new if you've been following the newsletters, but certainly interesting to see in a magazine w/ 2.5 million readers that's geared towards WWE's target demographic.

Barry Windham v Arn Anderson - WCW Slamboree 1993 Not as good as you'd expect it to be given the participants. Windham and Arn for whatever reason never gelled for me as opponents, but I did enjoy them quite a bit as a team. This is a match with some nice DDTs and spinebusters, and Windham has a pretty wild bladejob going on, but there's just not much of a match, and there's really no build to speak of. You'd think these two would have really good matches against each other, but every Windham/Arn match I've seen has had me disappointed.

So according to the WON, Harry's drug test failure was actually when he was still in developmental, and WWE waited until he was brought on the main roster and given a push before suspending him. The logic allegedly being that they wanted to prove they mean business by showing they're willing to suspend a guy they started pushing to show the media they mean it with the new testing policies. The whole deal with putting his debut dark match with Carlito on WWE.com was just part of getting him established as a name just so they can be on record punishing a WWE Superstar and not some no-name development guy. Things like this make CNN's editing of their piece that muc…

The Stro, formerly known as The Maestro, Robbie Eagle, and Gorgeous George III, is going to be my guest on Smart Mark Radio tonight, and while I have no doubt the questions I have lined up will lead to a good solid hour, I would like to give you guys the opportunity to ask any questions you might have as well. Normally I wouldn't shill, but it's not often I get a guest that ever had any sort of national notoriety.

TNA has its own viral marketing site now at http://www.11t11n07a.com/. When you put the puzzle together, you see a photo of Sting along with the words "genesis" and "November 11", along with what appears to be "Huffman" (Booker T's SHOOTNAME~!) written backwards.

So, it's going to be Samoa Joe vs. either Misawa or Marufuji for the GHC Title as the Main Event. I'm insanely happy about this, mainly because... I'm going to be there LIVE! I'm getting married in Japan in November... and my wife-to-be was willing to book my ticket so that I can be in Tokyo for the Budokan show before heading down to her mom's place. (We'll also be going to see Dragon Gate in Kyushu for their shows around the November Sumo Basho... which we'll also be attending). I know that it's trendy to bash Joe's wrestling lately... but I am quite sure we'll see some of the old Joe outside the confines of TNA. I know that Misawa is a broken down old m…

So, I'm working my way through the entries in this year's Super 8, and I've lined these three up for interviews. All three are based out of the northeastern indy scene, so if anyone has any questions for them, feel free to post them here. Also, if anyone knows any good matches featuring any of these guys, that are readily available, please let me know. Thanks.

So I'm going through my DVDs and have a ton of unwatched RINGS stuff from 1991-1997. I was wondering if someone can maybe hook me up with a history or match reviews of some of the stuff or something, because I'm trying to condense my entire collection to just the essentials, and I don't want to not keep something good. The other option is to watch every bit of it, which I may end up having to do, but any recommendations would be nice. I know about the more pimped Volk Han stuff, so no need to mention any of that. The goal would be that I would save anything historically significant, featuring key names or above average as a match. Any help is appreciated. …
