The Thread Killer and Sweet Brown Koko's back and forth in the Jim Cornette thread got me thinking. What was the best match you ever saw live in person? We have a lot of people here who are in their 40s and 50s and who grew up in Tennessee and the Carolinas so I'm really looking forward to some of these answers.

Nobody's started a thread like this yet so I thought I'd give it a shot. What was the MOTY? What were Some MOTY contenders? What was the promotion of the year? What were the best promos, angles, and skits of the year? What was the best weekly TV Show? Who was the wrestler of the year? What was the show of the year?

Wow. Just learned listening to Meltzer that Guy Hauray died at 77. For us French fans from the 80's and (as far as I go) 90's, he was basically the equivalent of Gorilla Mansoon/Jesse Ventura (the later when he turned heel in the later years). Great talker with a smooth as silk elocution (and great vocabulary too). My favourite memories came with his heel turn, he was just godlike at it, Ventura/Heenan level of greatness to me. To this day with my father we still refer to the routine he did during Royal Rumble 93 when he asked about a hundred times about Bob Backlund "What's his name already ? How old is he ? I can't see him...", to the exasperation of Ray Rougeau (and of…

Something I've been thinking about recently: 1. Who is someone with booking experience that you would like to see have a chance to be in charge of booking a promotion again? My vote goes to Paul Heyman. I doubt he'll ever be put in charge of WWE even if Vince were to pass away, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone bring him in and let him take over for a while, whether it's a promotion that could use a shot in the arm like Ring of Honor or something new. 2. Who is someone without experience that deserves a shot at booking? My vote for that goes to Scott Hall. If he has his demons in check I believe he could be great at it, based on how much he is given…

Local news here reporting former Steelers linebacker Kevin Greene passed away today at the age of 58. Most people here of course would know him from his time in WCW where he was really good for someone with no experience in the few appearances he made.

This came to me cuz I recently saw a tweet which said "How has Bryan been one of the best wrestlers in the world for 20 years? Even Bret couldn't do that." For me, this makes no sense. For me, this answer is obvious. I love Bret, he is great, but Daniel Bryan is one of the GOAT contenders, clearly several steps above Bret, in the league of Flair, Jumbo, Hansen, Casas, etc. Bret is great, but he is not in that league. Bryan is. Bryan debuted in 1998. He had a bunch of great matches in 2001, and he was consistently great in 2002, and he remains a consistently best-in-the-world wrestler in 2020, and has been so during the entire time period, apart from his retirement. …

So one of my fellow podcasters has requested an episode featuring Herb Abrams UWF. I've seen the PPV shows and a few episodes but this isn't a territory I know that much about. What would you suggest I include for some of the best or most famous (infamous) moments in UWF history? Looking for about an hour of footage or so. Thanks so much!

I can’t do Hodge justice. Hell of an amateur career and had long reigns as world junior heavyweight champion.

As if 2020 couldn't get worse. Really fond of his roles in Hulkamania Era WWF and WCW. He was one of those unmistakable characters, and his other roles are iconic to this day, even when his screentime is at a minimum. Shame.

Hi, I don't contribute as much as I did in years past, but I come here to read up at least once every day. With the year that's been, I just wanted to thank everyone that does write here, offering some comfort away from all the unpleasantness. Merry Christmas, Mick

Dunno if this is worth posting but Jimmy Rave has had to have an arm amputaed and so his wrestling days are done. I know Dylan Hales liked him a lot I don't know how other people here felt about him. But definitely a talented guy in my eyes and it's really sad to hear about something like this happening to anyone

Depending on your opinion of him and his "relevance" this might not deserve it's own thread...but I'm going to start one anyhow. Chris Hyatte died today at the age of 50. I know the membership here at PWO tends to skew a bit older, so it's likely a number of you remember his name, even if you might not have thought about him for years. For those of you who don't know who he was, Chris Hyatte was a Pro Wrestling columnist during the infancy of the so called "Internet Wrestling Community." When I first went online in 1996, there were only a small handful of sites devoted to Pro Wrestling, as hard as that is to imagine now. One of the biggest sites devoted to Pro Wre…

So the United Wrestling Network is the "governing body" created by Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, and they recently announced a world title to go with their tag team and TV titles. The bracket: Watts is a CWFH regular and Peter Avalon is the booker/promoter for their Championship Wrestling from Arizona sister group.

In spite of everything, New Japan have somehow managed to put together a G1 line-up that's as stacked as ever. I'm trying not to have too lofty expectations because Covid era wrestling has struggled to live up to normal times but the Jingu show was fun enough to make me excited about the company again after the Summer of EVIL. Here are the blocks: A Block Kazuchika Okada Kota Ibushi Jay White Tomohiro Ishii Shingo Takagi Minoru Suzuki Taichi Jeff Cobb Will Ospreay Yujiro Takahashi B Block Tetsuya Naito EVIL Hiroshi Tanahashi SANADA Zack Sabre Jr. KENTA Hirooki…

I've never been able to get into joshi, but after the GME project I think I really need to give it a try as there seems to be a lot of great wrestling I've missed out on. I think the main obstacle for me getting into joshi is the same as the obstacle for me enjoying women's MMA and women's boxing- I can't find women getting hurt in sports entertaining. Men getting hurt absolutely, sign me up for Sunday Ticket and a DAZN pass. But with women though there is something unsettling about it. I feel like this un easiness I feel has kept me from watching some of the greatest wrestling to ever happen and I want to try to stick my toe in, but don't know where to start. Any sugges…

http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/glow-netflix-series-female-wrestling-league-1201785407/ I know there are some G.L.O.W. fans on the board so I figured this was worth creating a topic about. I'm interested in it even though I never cared about GLOW just because I think a comedy series about wrestling has a lot of potential.

I envision a rich discussion with many different candidates put forward. Since PWO is the home of challenging received opinion, I'm interested to see if there are any Russo defenders in the house. I certainly think you can make a strong case that he's not the worst ever.
