Try not to let this turn into a DVDVR Sleaze Thread memorial if at all possible (for the youngin's out there, back in the day there was a mega thread about sleazy things wrestlers of the past were involved in that eventually turned into people making shit up to the point some of the things mentioned are still considered to have actually happened).

Dave Meltzer on Observer Radio recently started comparing the AJPW 90s pillars to the current NJPW top guys - funnily enough, it started with him saying "Misawa, Kawada and Kobashi are on the level of the modern NJPW guys" which made me laugh for many reasons - but I thought it would make for an interesting discussion. He compared Tanahashi to Kobashi which I agree is a good analogy. He said Tanahashi has more charisma than 90s Kobashi which is insane to me. I do think there's a spiritual connection between the two. Tanahashi idolised Shawn Michaels and Kobashi was Michaels with excellent offence and a bit less drama. I think Kobashi blows Tanahashi out of the wate…

If you haven't heard about this yet, here are some of the details as I understand them. Brett Dibiase was indicted for embezzling from his father Ted Dibiase's faith based non government organization. At the same time, Brett Dibiase ran the Mississippi Department of Human Services during which time that government agency awarded $2.1 million in welfare funds to Ted Dibiase's non profit some of which ended up in Brett Dibiase's pocket. Anybody down in Mississippi know more than this or know more accurate details than whats being said online?

It's on now, but the main event is Psycho Clown/Pentagon/Fenix vs LA Park/Rush/Bestia del Ring which should be some pretty good AAA craziness.

Thought I just had in the shower, Mick Foley's run as a top guy in WWF normalized what I consider the two biggest problems I see in modern wrestling- career threatening dangerous bumps and bad skit comedy. Sure there were other people during my childhood who got over risking their well being with dangerous bumps and sure there were guys who got over doing stupid comedy sketches, but there was nobody who drew as much money or had the same level of success doing those two things as Mick Foley. So my question is, if Mick Foley hadn't had the level of success he had, would we now have the dangerous bumps and excessive violence that seems to plauge modern wrestling? And if Mic…

cubsfan reported tonight that La Parka passed away tonight from the injuries he suffered doing a dive in November, he was 56 years old. Despite always being confused with the more famous LA Park, he was one of AAA's biggest stars really up until Psycho Clown broke out a few years ago.

It was suggested it should have its own thread, so here it is. The story for those who don't follow the Impact thread: Tessa made a tweet about supporting women and it opened the floodgates for every woman wrestler she had a run in with and/or saw her bad behavior to drop all the receipts for the world to see.

I am wondering what is out there in regards of Jushin Liger matches outside of Japan. I was going a bit through youtube and this is what is available there (dates of All Star stuff definitely is sketchy, I just tried to match the listings with Cagematch) - minus WCW, of course (and only looking at 1999 or earlier): All Star 1986-09-27 - Fuji Yamada & Clive Myers vs John Wilkie & Zigue Zag - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXJbGG7fCok 1986-09-27 - Fuji Yamada & Clive Myers vs Blondie Barratt & Rocky Moran - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TivpEyrXbA 1986-11-25 - Fuji Yamada vs Rocky Moran - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-dEE_WKXXY + https://w…

Dont really post here much (or anywhere, in fact), so apologies if i missed a topic. but this has been playing on my mind for a while really. Why did AEW join in with the idea that that wrestling TV shows need to be 2 hours+ with potential to overrun? WWE shows are horrendous, the idea of watching a 3 hour Raw is horrific. Two hours of smackdown- especially in its current slump- is a chore. AEW is quite novel to me because its new but its difficult for me to imagine watching this for 2 hours every week for the next year unless something drastically changes. By contrast NWA Power feels like a breeze frankly. I dont know if its on TV or not but 45-50 minut…

I looked around (not too hard admittedly, but I did look) and I don't see a 2019 MOTY thread anywhere here at PWO? If there isn't one, perhaps we could discuss it here? I need to review all the shows I've watched thus far this year, but I am leaning toward WALTER vs. Tyler Bate from NXT UK Takeover: Cardiff on 08/31/19. That is in close contention with Cody vs. Dustin Rhodes from AEW Double or Nothing. Also let's not forget The Undertaker vs. Goldberg from WWE Super Showdown. Anybody else have any picks, a Top 10 list, recommendations...anything?

Longtime CMLL star Mr. Niebla passed away at the age of 46 earlier on 12/23, reportedly due to a blood infection. His was a sad, cautionary tale in lucha: someone with undeniable charisma that unfortunately saw his career derail due to a long battle with alcoholism. He was very popular with his peers, as seen by him always being brought back when he'd get suspended, but the increasing visibility of his escapades with CMLL streaming more of their shows (plus an incident where he went on a Fantasica Mania tour and ended up hospitalized due to a relapse) led to CMLL using him less and less as of late. He's been ill for a while, but I get the impression that folks were under…
