The WDKW100 is a fan poll used to identify the very best wrestlers of the prior year based on an in-ring basis only. Votes were solicited mostly on Twitter and the final tally saw more than 70 folks submit ballots. You can find posts for the top 100 including blurbs from the WDKW forums and recommended matches on my blog. 2. Hi people, I opened the second poll "Who is a better in ring performer?" I decided to make comparisons between wrestlers considered the ability as in ring performers, that include workrate, in ring psychology, storytelling, selling, cleaning in the execution of the moves, quality of matches. You should try to vote not your favourite wrestlers, but you should vote the wrestler that you think is a better in ring performer. In few words you should try to be as objective as possible. However if you think that the wrestlers are great in ring performers in the same way, and it's impossible to choose who is better than the other, you should vote the option number 3, …

After the topic that I opened about Danielson two days ago, I decided to make comparisons between wrestlers considered the ability as in ring performers, that include workrate, in ring psychology, storytelling, selling, cleaning in the execution of the moves, quality of matches, charisma into the match. 5. Good afternoon guys, I am a new subscriber. Considering the fact that Danielson is again an active performer, I would like to ask you what do you think about his ring ability. He is probably the best of his generation, but how would you compare him with the best of other generations, considering exclusively in ring ability, not drawing power? Is he objectively on Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada/Liger/Bret Hart considering exclusively in ring talent? Maybe Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada have more great matches, but the reason was also that their best matches were against each other, so they knew each other, while Danielson challenged a lot of different wrestlers with different sty…

A topic that I thought would complement the MOTYs by year thread well. 1983 - Terry Funk 1984 - El Satanico 1985 - Chigusa Nagayo 1986 - Tatsumi Fujinami 1987 - Tatsumi Fujinami 1988 - Genichiro Tenryu 1989 - Ric Flair (insanely competitive year: Fujiwara, Satanico, Tenryu, Jumbo all up there) 1990 - El Dandy (Fujiwara would have won it in almost any other year) 1991 - Jumbo Tsuruta 1992 - Jushin Liger 1993 - Akira Hokuto 1994 - Aja Kong 1995 - Mitsuharu Misawa 1996 - Volk Han (Ohtani is close) 1997 - Kiyoshi Tamura 1998 - Koji Kanemoto 1999 - Mariko Yoshida 2000 - Shinya Hashimoto 2001 - Steve Austin 2002 - Genichiro Tenryu 2003 - Kenta Kobashi 2…

  7. I don't think I'll even watch this year. I guess Goldberg is the anchor inductee? Im not a supporter but I get why they're inducting him. I guess they're running out of big inductees. The Rock and Undertaker are really the only two they have left in the bank until Cena retires. The Dudleys deserve it but I can think of a couple that should/could go in before them. Double JJ was midcard unless you count dying WCW and TNA. Hillbilly Jim is a nice guy but HOF is a stretch. Ivory seems like a token inductee.

Exhibit #1 1985 Magnum TA says to Baby Doll that he'll show her what a real man is then proceeds to force a long kiss on her, while Dave Crockett is all smile and excited and comments "She likes it ! She likes it !" Of course she didn't and when Magnum let her go, she of course slaps the shit out of him. Which leads to Magnum trying to tear her clothes off. THEN, Tully Blanchard jumps on Magnum like a crazed man and tries to beat the shit out of him. So, the babyface sexually assaulted a woman with the happy approval of the announcer then tried to expose her when she actually dared to retaliate. And the heel (and what a creep Tully Blanchard was) jump…

AJPW announced AJPW TV on yesterdays show. All we know about it is that it will air live footage and have on demand services for those shows after they air. As for when it will be rolled out we do not know, there is a big show in saitama super arena on 25th march so that could be a candidate or possibly the start of the champions carnival as it was announced in a set of two video packages with the cc Blocks. As for past footage nobody knows for sure, but the general thought is that it will probably not have any pre split footage as that is owned by NTV not AJPW. The current promotion AJPW is technically a different promotion as when Jun akiyama Bought the promotion in…

  14. Our friends from Reddit organised a poll over the last couple of weeks. Can't say I'm a fan of the results, but at least there's some value in seeing how casual smart fans think. It's very Meltzerian, pro-recency (4 of the top 5 are from 2017-18!) and I was most struck by how there's not a single Lucha, Joshi, British or Shoot-Style match anywhere. I thought at least a Manami Toyota match would make it. No Flair vs. Steamboat 2/3 falls either, I thought that match had been canonised but apparently not. Oh and Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens ranking higher than any of the AJPW bouts they're cosplaying is funny. 1) IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada © vs. …

Inspired by the GWWE project: Imagine you have a time machine and can cherry-pick WWF/E wrestlers at their peak to put on one magnificent card. Who would you choose and how would you book them? Self-imposed limits: Ten matches. Only choose from the GWWE Top 100, and try not to reprise classic matches we have already seen (like Bret vs Austin or Savage vs Steamboat). It's tough! I am cheating by booking Survivor Series matches, and I'm still leaving worthy wrestlers like Shinsuke, Show and Punk off of the card. All Time Dream Survivor Series - Toronto, Canada - SkyDome - November 2018 Main Event - Heavyweight Title: Bret Hart vs Bryan Danielson - My two…

  19. The one actually at WrestleMania was better, but I liked the tone of these videos building up to the Iron Man match. The one before Hogan/McMahon at WM 19 was pretty amazing too, particularly the choice of music.

This case received nationwide attention at the time and is still unsolved 31 years later. Pretty incredible if Haynes is being truthful here

  21. From the WO site: That's.....actually not to bad. They aren't completely cutting their throats on PPVs like WWE did while beating them to the punch with different tiers.

  22. I was thinking about this after hearing Kris and Bix talk about how ECW on the WWE Network is almost unwatchable due to the understandable edits done to remove the copyrighted music. Also with ROH starting up it's new streaming service it will probably remove a lot of the entrances of the 2002-2008 pre-HD Net era with the copyrighted music as most of their DVD releases have in the past few years. So with stuff like this I was wondering other peoples thoughts on this strictly from personal preference as a viewer? Obviously this is necessary as they would not be feasibly able to pay for all the copyrighted music, but when you watch stuff back do you prefer the n…

It's one of the most important years any wrestling company has ever had - Mid-Atlantic in 1983 builds up a Steamboast/Youngblood-Slaughter/Kernodle match that causes a legendary traffic jam in Greensboro. And it leads to the creation of Starrcade, closed-circuit, indirectly to PPV, a million different things. You all know the story, this place is smart. While pieces of episodes from this year have previously been available, we now have entire episodes from the first 10 months up on the WWE Network. So my goal here is to just post when I see something significant, and Mid-Atlantic experts can let me know if it's new or something in circulation.

There are some classic Dusty "What the hell is he talking about?!?!?" kind of promos (so far my favorite is the one hyping the barbed wire match where he says America was made by barbed wire, keeping varmints out) but two of my favorite quotes so far: Ric Flair: "I got a letter from a woman who didn't want me to talk about my clothes, my cars, my women, my looks...don't you understand that one of the problems of the world today is lack of communication?!" and from the wisdom of Tully Blanchard: "Wrestling is like a chess game between two men...(pause)...or four if it's a tag team"

I was interested in seeing where different views are on watching older stuff compared to newer stuff. What do people prefer and what do they end up watching more? I used to be all about watching stuff from current year with just a little archival footage on the side. Now I almost only watch older stuff and I've seen a total of 2 matches from 2017. It's not that I dislike newer stuff as I loved both the matches I watched, but there's a few reasons I simply prefer to watch older stuff. Main reason is there is so much great historical footage popping up online these days I just can't find the interest to watch a full show as it airs. There's always been wrestling on…
