  1. Started by Woof,

Over on Twitter earlier today Charles sent up a flare looking for a list of the best matches of 2015, so I thought I'd throw one up here. I've been working on cobbling together a spreadsheet of the "greatest matches of all time", which is basically just a documented list of any match that got significant praise at some point in time. It's extensive, but not all-inclusive. For instance, for the 2015 stuff below I have included any match that was nominated on the Voices Of Wrestling Match Of The Month columns they've been posting; any match that received a 4 or better star rating on any online recap I may have read; and anything that I may have personally seen and reall…

This is something I've thought about because of changes in my own habits. A decade ago, I drank whilst watching quite a bit. I have really good memories of RoH, TNA and WWE for the second half of the 2000s, and wonder how accurate those memories are. I remember being fairly smashed by the end of a few WWE live events in Belfast too. Nowadays, I rarely get the tv to myself on a weekend night, so most of my wrestling watching is during the week, or during the day at weekends. And if the missus heard a beer crack open during those hours that's the last you'd hear from me . Anyway, curious about a few things - How much booze before you'd question your evaluatio…

With Daniel Bryan career over due to a concussion, its only a matter of time before some other talent is pulled due to concussion issues. Randy Orton and bubba ray both have a history of concussion's, HHH and Undertaker took lots of chair shots over there career's. Likewise Brock Lesnar did a lot of chair shots, plus with his MMA career and his shot at football I'm guessing his results wouldn't be the best. Plus when you include just taking bumps night after night, I'm guessing lots of wrestlers would have brain injures/issues and just aren't aware of it. If the Wwe tested everyone, would there be a enough main event talent left to even stay in business?

  5. I saw this a few days ago, but have not seen it discussed much anywhere (scroll down to February 1): https://www.facebook.com/Wrestling-Memories-Tribute-Page-127300010634723/ I am guessing it is true, but just didn't see it discussed or confirmed anywhere. I remember watching his feud with Manny Fernandez on ESPN. I always felt bad for him because the gimmick was he was broke, and things always seemed to get worse for him. And with the ESPN random airings, I never saw a positive payoff for him, but also not sure if there ever was once since Global often left things unresolved with people coming and going so often.

  6. Not sure if anyone else would be interested but I threw this list together. Joshi has had a pretty good year so I wanted to try and compare them to the matches that happen in NXT. I also wanted to see if I could reasonably stretch the list long enough to include a match from the WWE main roster. Luckily, there's been a couple of really good matches so the list didn't have to get too egregious. 1. Kairi Hojo vs. Meiko Satomura (Stardom, 6/14) 2. Io Shirai vs. Koguma (Stardom, 2/22) 3. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley (NXT, 8/22) 4. Arisa Nakajima vs. Hikaru Shida (JWP, 7/11) 5. Tsukasa Fujimoto/Arisa Nakajima vs. Misaki Ohata/Ryo Mizunami (Ice Ribbon, 12/31) …

For this week's podcast we're returning to our "court case" format to argue over CM Punk, on the charge of fraud and misrepresentation - in that he and his WWE career didn't live up to all the hype (the internet and his own) surrounding him going in and throughout. We're looking for your thoughts on which side of the fence you sit on. Do you feel CM Punk lived up to the internet cheerleading and underground buzz synonymous with his name for years and surpassed it, or do you think he fell short of his and his supporters' claims? As always, the best contributions (or "witness statements", in this instance) will be read on the show and you'll be credited accordingly.…

What do you do? This is a two fold question: 1) How do you go about recording responses to wrestling as you watch? 2) What do you do afterwards to record your wrestling watching? This is asked primarily due to the vast number of podcasts/blogs people run, but also as I've heard of a few of you recording matches on spreadsheets. This is more for curiosity than anything.

I hadn't even heard of this until today when Mike Tyson of all people posted the trailer on Facebook. Just got through with watching it and I was really impressed: a lot of hard work must have gone into it. The Dynamite Kid interview is brilliant. Absolutely night and day to that abysmal Highspots effort both in terms of production and content. God knows how they were able to pull a coherent interview out of Dyno where he isn't giving one word answers, but you have to take your hat off as they clearly knew what they were doing. Really recommend this, you can see it at www.ninelegendsfilm.com Has anybody else seen it? Did anybody know it was getting made …

Not necessarily in terms of being jacked ... Was it Lex Luger in WCW around the mid-90s when Schiavone would tout him as having 3% body fat? Or Was it Ricky Steamboat in the late 70s around the time Flair says he was living on nothing but tuna and chicken breasts? Or someone else?

I had a search and couldn't find a topic like this already, but if I missed it, I'm sorry. Who are you favourite squash match workers? Doing the 1986 project has allowed me to see more squashes than I have in years, and Don Muraco is a guy who stands out. He had an offense that was diverse and interesting for the time, and just beasted jobbers. Ron Garvin is another one who just blasted through jobbers in an interesting way. Both Midnight and Rock and Roll Express wrestled interesting squashes - the Rock and Rolls especially, as the layout of their squash matches varied from match to match.

  21. Growing up in a rural area, my family didn't have cable until I was a junior in high school. This meant my wrestling options were limited to the WWF on Saturday mornings and the AWA on Sunday mornings. Around the mid-90s, I started getting VHS tapes of WCW pay-per-views from one of my father's co-workers. However, I still didn't have access to their weekly TV shows, so I don't count myself as "following" WCW at that time. In the later 90s, I finally got cable, which allowed me to follow both the WWF and WCW on a weekly basis. A couple of the regional sports networks would run ECW sporadically late on Saturday nights, so I guess I could claim to have followed WWF, WCW …

I was thinking about the big shows for 2002 as I'm trying to do a year in review type watching and got a little stumped at the big shows for international promotions. WWE has Mania, TNA has Bound for Glory, AAA Triplemania and CMLL/Anniversary show I'm assuming. But what about places like Noah? Toryumon? BJPW? DDT? Those were a few I was thinking of for 2002 alone but this could cover any year and any promotion.

  23. Like, Rey Mysterio level tiny. Look, I know, it shouldn't matter. He just had a great match on the ROH PPV. He's a great worker and he's in ridiculously good shape. But... even next to Jericho. It's amazingly noticeable. Possibly limiting even in 2016 WWE.
